  14. thers no situation at the min its just for future referance and just for youngun's to see (mind im only 23 lol), it may help them as when i started hunting and that at around 13 / 14 i bought a dog already trained so really did'nt have to train much with her. (just to add more experiance really) and when i did get my own dog to train i was left in the same situation that i think some people are in, i started the pup off too early (approx 5 or 6 months) and it started yapping. as i had no real help or good advise about how to correct this. .. the only advise was to get rid as theres nothing i
  15. hi all just wondering what everyone thinks is the reason behind lurchers yapping / barking when chasing its givin quarry?. and i was wondering how you would go about stopping this or how you did stop it. i maybe wrong in thinking but i belive it may be started with starting pups off too young .. letting them run befor they can walk sort of thing. how i would try to prevent this would be to leave the dog off for a while then start again from scratch .. give it a few kills and as many easy slips as i could. IMO would like to hear other ideas and please let me know if im wrong
  16. I've got a 14 month old male pup that I'll be taking out this fall for his first, he's full of piss and vinegar. He has one problem that I'm not quite sure what to do about, he face barks in the kennel and I'm hoping it isn't an omen of some sort. Any suggestions? I'm hoping once he see's game and is let on that it will go away. What do you consider "introduced proper"? He's not for-sale, just been reading here and there. He was born with us and he'll be staying with us regardless but I'd like to see the barking go away. He's keen at spotting but yet to be let go, and I'm sure that alon
  17. never heard of a snach dog atb with the sale thou
  18. i think the reason lurchers are for sale between 8 - 18 months is because idots have them running them too young and the pup probs starts yappin behind the quarry or jacks because they hav'nt introduced them properly IMO
  19. a few well trained and bred rhodesians would be the dog for that. maybebut why notuse a dog thats that was bred for the purpose borzoi ect. these dogs will probabley take wolve and hold lynx at bay never seen bears worked by dogs before i dont think bear would survive over here . . . "i dont think bear would survive over here" i dont think much would survive if any was introduced never mind the bears .. unless the hunter had a high powered gun how many of you's would go lampin on there own??
  20. just out of interest if any of these was introduced could you hunt them?? and what dog would take these?? also the hare was already here and they've banned that ... so i cant see them introducing anything in for people to hunt i can understand if 1 maybe attackin people or livestock then someone would be brought in to fix it
