new pup wont stop yapppn...help
flossiedrops replied to maryhall's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
does it come in in the day or have company, if so it will think its bin abandoned at night if its dumped in the garden, get him a box or small covered crate to sleep in in the shed so hes got is own small den out of any draft with deep bedding like old fleece jumpers and shredded paper, hot water bottle will be comforting til it goes cold but then eel be asleep so e wont notice, in the day its noisy at night silent so have a tick or a radio on low like kids with a night light im not suggesting a nightlight tho thats a bit too far, feed him in the shed too with the door open so its his place. b -

fer chissake you've got a strange scared new dog with jaws to crush a deer and you're letting your neice 'pull and everything' on him, this is not fair on this dog or your neice when he gets fed up of being messed with and tells her to buga off in the only way he knows, stop being a twat and see if the previous owner will take him back and stop ruining him so that he is always suspect...sort it out boy before we have to read about another tragedy 'fed up dog vs pokey child' in the papers.. -
any recipies for a good pastry
flossiedrops replied to a topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
nicked this recipe off my neighbour after she gave me a game pie she cooked for a wi competition, it's crumbly and tasty (she won!). 1lb selfraising wholemeal flour 1/2 lb lard rub together and leave for 1/2 hour to rest mix to a dough leaving sides clean with hand hot water leave for several hours roll out to about 5-6mm thick and line the dish, dont get the bottom too wet so line the base with a thin layer of meat before filling up pie if you using a gravy top and glaze with egg and rest for 30 mins then bake medium oven 180-200C until brown -
made my first jam/jelly ever it was so easy take the used sloes and put 1lb with 1 pint water and simmer for 30 mins or so until fruit is really squishy, when cool strain thru a clean teatowel, ya not supposed to cos jelly won't be so clear but i wrung it out to get every last bit of juice out, back into saucepan and 1pint liquid to 1lb sugar and some lemon juice to help it set (optional add a good pinch of mixed spice) and boil gently until a splodge on a cold plate wrinkles when you push finger through it, let it cool a bit skim off any froth and pour into clean jamjars with metal lids and

Me too, long way to travel for just one straight race for lurcher, you should ask nighthunter next yr to do the full works for you, Good luck with the day anyhow that's a shame -me too, the nch supporters website said terrier and lurcher racing tho, yes nighthunter's events are excellent - straight racing coursing longjump and hurdles for terriers and lurchers, never mind i'll take my 3 to the beach instead -

i went. camped from friday eve to sunday and enjoyed myself. i have a young lurcher lacking in confidence so no racing for her but she did run against her mum in bunny chase in main ring and a terrierx so no lurcher racing but the terriers were well catered for with a 100yd dash! -
pick ones that have 'give' like a ripe plum and not shrivelled ones, freeze 24 hours and tip alcohol over asap to split skins, the sugar helps it ferment and sweeten it get screwtop dark glass wine bottles or clear jars but store clear ones in dark to keep red colour of sloe gin or vodka, half fill with sloes add couple ounces of sugar top up with gin or vodka ive used both last year and they taste the same to me, shake about couple times a week for month then monthly for year when you can taste for sweetnes and add more sugar if you want, when it tastes good tip out (and spend ages prising f

unlike a kennel club show people mix and chat and have a good friendly time they go to socialise more than show if it's a game fair then the site will have game stalls ie fishing shooting hunting stuff and main ring displays like flyfishing, stalking, ferreting, gundog and hawking displays then there will be a lurcher terrier and family dog show, the terriers will be judged in classes alike so puppies, russell type and smooth or rough coat, patterdale/fell type lakeland type border type etc and 'other' sometimes xbreed too (yey!) under 13.5", best entered - this is not best dog entered in
