  1. To be honest i couldnt be happier, i got mine for £700 delivered including steel rings. I know that alot of US shooters like them, take a look on the net The 35mm tube lets loads of light through, they have a very solid build quality, all together im very happy with the purchase Hopefully lamping on Exmoor again this weds....... i will try and get some more pics of the scope taken if any of you chaps are intrested, heres one of the reticle anyways. mine is the Tactical 6-24x50 Cheers Sam
  2. Well, a mate that i go out with quite a lot has a big permission on Exmoor. We hadnt been out scince before Christmas so decided its time to start hitting them before lambing really gets started, lamping from the quad. Total of the night was 4, ive only got a pic of one due to the fact of not being arsed to cross the valley to take pics...... could have had 6........ i missed one and so did Ian i rekon we must have seen 10, we will be going out again next week to try and keep on top of them. This was a Dog taken at about 250 over a valley, with my newly mounted IOR th
  3. Well chaps im looking for a deer rifle.... i already have a .204 ruger for foxing and general long range varminting. Thats why the .243 isnt on my list, i need something thats hard hitting and pretty flat, could you please give me users advice on the calibres avaliable, personally i think the .308 isnt really what i want but may be swayed. I reload for the .204 and would reload for the new rifle. i have a few things on my check list that it has to meet. - Flat as possible shooting - readily avaliable reloading consumables - not too expensive reloading if there are any other
  4. Very very nice, i want one of those for Christmas....
  5. pps, a lad i know has a Howa 1500 and can get 4000+ fps. Sam
  6. Well Lewdan... where to start Thinking of a .204 eh?? good man! just be aware that to get the best from your .204 you will have to put time into reloading, with the help of some very helpful users im starting to get some good results . I cant seem to work the Hornady V-Max 32`s or 40`s, but the sierras & H322 work like a treat and are very destructive.... Bullets and cases are avaliable from all sensible RFD`s if not in stock they can order. Cases nearly always in stock at midwayuk.com . Powder wise ive heard Reloader 10 is what to go for, personally im gonna stick with H322 fo
  7. Sorry a bit off the original question.... ive got some Chasseur - leather lined, ive had mine about 3 years, ones just started to leak, not sure where tho. Would i be able to push that as a Guarantee job?? And yes i would get another pair.... Cheers Sam There cheaper here http://www.molevalleyfarmers.com/mvf/store/search;jsessionid=0B1BDA3A87D97E7992EA609393B6E992?searchTerm=chameau&site=Products
  8. Hey, ive got a MAE T-12 on my .204, its pretty long with it on so i have to take it off to get it into the cabinet..... If im out having a good shoot up at some paper i will take the mod off and let the rifle and MOD cool down when its starting to get hot. Ive almost done exactly the same thing myself!! Ive just got into habbit now of just giving it a check every now and then. Cheers Sam
  9. Im a butcher and my boss has been paying between £1.20pp - £1.40pp for whole carcase- pp= per pound Delivered to the shop, thats in somerset Cheers sam
  10. : oh it does mate... five shot group 100 yards.... Snap.... you sure thats 5 shots? only looks like 2 holes...... LOL its pretty accurate then! I presume thats with home loads? Where did you get the work done? I should be grouping like that with the .204 - bit more work needed me thinks... Cheers
  11. Cracking set up there Snap..... i bet it shoots as good as it looks. Very nice indeed
  12. No probs Lee, right then, dose the £500 need to cover Rings & scope base??? As these will set you back some descent dollar if you want quality which i sugest you aim for. to start - There are a lot of people that are fans of 8x56 scopes that is a fixed power scope, now these figures mean 8 times magnification by a 56mm objective lens. Its a very good combo scope thats as good for deer stalking and lamping -so could ideally cover both needs for .223 & .243. But will depend on how far you want to push your rifle, ive only used a mates 8x56 on his .223 so cant really comment on
  13. Well...... fist couple of questions - Whats the budget to spend - Are you looking for fixed power or variable To be honest the list of Optics avaliable is endless, so just need those two answered - to narrow the search a tad. Cheers Sam
  14. Zini, i take my hat off to you... that is some great shooting! Quick question what scope are you using? Im more of a FAC shooter but needed a cheap PCP i had a superten years ago and loved it, wish i never sold it! I bought myself a AGS PCR1 combo for £199 with - logun mod, Niko 3-9x40, mounts, and slip. & Webley pump for £70. Not bad deal i thought i just wanted something for shots when a "live ammo" shot wasnt safe. I had a couple of crows today but fairly close at 20m. Also what pellets do you use? Cheers Sam
  15. LOL, you know... reading this one could make a very rude comment here... to compare that statement as acting like a lady..... Acting like a lady? You? No comment. No im not talking about myself!!! Ha ha ha
  16. LOL, you know... reading this one could make a very rude comment here... to compare that statement as acting like a lady.....
  17. Lol yeah, i like the thought of that maybe a beatles tribute band...
  18. As the title says - Are foxes canibalistic? Im saying this cause i shot a fox about 3 weeks or so ago and chucked it in the hedge... took the dog out for a walk today and saw that the remains had been pulled out of the hedge about 20 ft into the field and was stripped bare no skin left only the tail had hair on Maybe the snow is getting too much or is this normal? Cheers
  19. I did see one on there back along but im pretty sure that it was for around £800 without rings. Ive done a lot of looking around, benchrest shooters in the US are picking these over Nightforce etc.... Theres not much else out there that i really want scope wise, im not a fan of nightforce and S&B-Zeiss big mag i couldnt afford. I had a Docter 8-25x50 but couldnt go lamping with it cause the cross-hairs were so fine Ive got a Konus at the mo and for a "cheap Scope" i cant knock it but ive been after an IOR for some time now, will be very intresting to see how they compare. Chee
  20. Take a look at some of these beasts... MSR - ACR - M24 - MCS - Have fun watchin!! Sam
  21. Well hello chaps i hope all is well on a very frosty morning. As title states ive just bought myself an IOR Valdada 8-24x50 with the 35mm tube, to sit proudly on the .204 ruger. Here is a small bit of tech data, please could i have your thoughts.... i have read some very good reviews about them. Schott Glass Matte Illuminated MP-8 Dot 35mm Covered Knobs Side Focus IOR 35mm Medium Rings, Lenses Covers & Sun Shade included Technical Data Magnification: 6-24x Objective diameter: 50mm Field of view at 100 yards: 33-9.9 feet Exit pupil diameter: 8.2-2.1mm
  22. Well, im not sure really. I just had mine sent over, if its not a part of the action of barell i think its ok. Ive just seen this hogue on ebay-UK http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Remington-700-Hogue-PB-Stock_W0QQitemZ130354420686QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET?hash=item1e59ba9bce It states rrp 0f 195 so good deal maybe?? Cheers Sam
  23. Have a look on ebay.com and see if you can get a short action HS precision stock sent over. I know that HS Precision also make a DM (drop Magazine) conversion for a .223, its not cheap tho. Money would probably be better spent on a Jewell trigger. Thats what i did with my stock and now its fully floated Hope this helps a bit Cheers Sam
