      y...get a real gat 7mm

  2. Firstly id say that barrel life depends on how you care for the barrel. IS the barrel cleaned properly after each session? is it cleaned using solvents that arnt overly aggressive, do you leave your rifle stored with the moderator on? What kind of accuracy do you accept from your rifle? etc The questions go on, at the end if you look after your barrel, it will look after you!
  3. Personally, i dont rate the .17hmr as a fox round. You can talk shot placement all you like, but there is always a time when something dosent go quite to plan. And yes i did own one and did take a few foxes with it, they were taken at sub 100 yrds, but didnt take to it so i sold it.
  4. Ive just bought a Niggeloh, its a back-pack style sling thats very handy if your carrying some weighty rifle around. Not cheap, but worth it http://www.scottcountry.co.uk/products_detail.asp?productID=1406&froogle=true
  5. I collected .204 ruger on the weekend from ukgunrepairs and with the help of riflecraft have produced the following - AICS stock, 26" 1/10 twist stainless heavy contour barrel (screw-cut) blueprinted Rem 700 action & IOR 8-25x50. It had its first outing to "break the barrel in" on Monday with the help of Dicehorn & Shooting Charley (thanks Chaps) Now the real work on load development will begin this weekend, i just wish i didnt have to work so that i could play with guns all the time! This will be a real shooter if i can do my part..... I know its not to everyones ta
  6. Some stunning guns on their site, very very nice, the craftsmanship is truely exceptional
  7. Simple answer - no that would not affect. You just need to demonstrate your competence when the fao comes round for the interview of your awareness of the footpath. It also dosent matter how many acres you have, so long as it's not as flat as a pancake as you will need suitabl backstop for all calibres. If it is all flat, you may be able to get away with putting up high seats. Hope this helps Sam
  8. I've got a 8-25x50 with the 35mm tube and I love it Sam
  9. yep, totally agree If your confident that you can place the shot, why not.
  10. Give rimfire magic a call www.rimfiremagic.co.uk Hope this helps Sam
  11. Shit the bed, i bet that fookin hurt!
  12. Good shooting there Also thats a nice set-up. Is that a IOR Scope? Sam
  13. I have a PES T12 on my .204 ruger currently, its made of stainless steel. Its a bit weighty but it works well and i like it. The next moderator im getting when the .308 is ready will be either a A-tec or a ASE north star.
  14. Good shooting there Den, was that with the 39grn SBK's?? Sam
  15. Start with myfreetargets.com if you require more, just google it
  16. Good post Mark - There is also the possibility that he may commit suicide, if done in the wilderness, the body may not be found for a considerable time Will he hand himself in? i doubt it
  17. A sporter would have been just as pointable so other than looks NO advantage(looks is in the eye of the beholder). NOT a dig an observation regarding the thread. IMO it comes down to "horses for courses" some people will buy the sporter & some the Varmint - wether there is a difference in the capability... i doubt there is any.
  18. I had a CZ 16" varmint .17 hmr, to be honest the weight was never a issue, it was very pointable. Excellent for lamping from a vehicle and I also thought it was a attractive looking rifle.
  19. Well it looks like I won't be doing any reloading for the .308 for about 11 weeks, as I have decided to go for a custom rifle! I spoke to RifleCraft yesterday and got the ball rolling. 22" 1/11 twist heavy contour, rem 700 blue-printed action, HS precision stock. The .204 should be back in my hands very soon, just waiting for the Proof house now. Also a slight adjustment on that front, I've decided to drop that into the ACIS as I've picked up some AI .223 magazines for it. Pictures to follow very soon hopefully!!!!!
  20. I know its not quite the same.... ive got a terrier that goes rough shooting with me and the shotgun & she will also sit next to me when out with the centrefire after long range rabbits. I started young, when she was a pup i would bang her metal food bowl on the floor, started quiet ish then gradually got louder. Being sure that encouragement was given for her to stay by my side... then she would get her meal. As for starting with guns, i would take the .22lr with me when i went for a walk with her, i didnt fire any rounds for a few outings. just to get her used to me carrying the
  21. Thanks for the replys, i'm going to try a box of prvi and see how I get on. At Under £50 per hundred fir 180grn soft point - it would be rude not to. Even the brass costs £30 per 100 So loaded for an extra £20 - to good to be true??? As in, pretty poor quality?? I will begin to load for it, I will just see if the rifle "likes" prvi first. The rifle Im getting is a Remmy 700 tactical AAC-SD, hopefully the Prvi stuff fits!! As for what it will be used for, well long range target, vermin & some Deer. Thanks for the price jonathan L.
  22. Hey Ric, well i may be jumping the gun a little (pardon the pun) i just want to get some bits "sorted". I mainly want Lapua as its the dogs really (from what ive read), and should in theory last longer than others. As for shooting factory, i was thinking of getting some Prvi to start..... as it will be a 1/10 twist bullet weights should be in the 170-200 grains. So i would try PPU Prvi for around 50-60 squids per 100! Thats a cheap way to get range time
  23. Hello all, well let's cut to the chase. I'm getting a .308 and will be home loading for it. Dose anybody have some or know someone who I could purchase some once fired Lapua brass from?? Thanks
