Help with Air Arms TDR please
sibaldib replied to sibaldib's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
OK thanks mate Sib -
Thanks Si. I'm happy to pay the postage if you like. Sib

Si, You probably won't want that old R10 now you've got your "new" rifles, so I'll take it off your hands! Sib

Can't go wrong with a JSR scope. I've had a couple and been very pleased with them. I've got an illuminated reticle one on my HW95 at present and it was excellent value for £40. Cheers Sib

Help with Air Arms TDR please
sibaldib replied to sibaldib's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The other thing the guy didn't tell me is that it didn't have a safety. It doesn't bother me that much as I never cock any rifle until about to fire and never rely on the safety. However I feel he should have told me. When I questioned it, he said it was in a small pouch in the bag. On looking at it, it's obvious that the small grubscrew and ball bearing are also misssing. In contrast, the S400 I bought with Rowan magazine, off the same forum, was exactly as described even down to the slight mark on the stock. Caveat Emptor, as they say. Cheers Sib -
Help with Air Arms TDR please

Blimey Si - have you used swim lanes and flow charts in the past? You'd be excellent with them!! Right, I got home early from work today and had a little bit of daylight to work in. Firstly I put the TRD silencer on my AA S400 .22. No problem. Ten shots in the same place. Then put it back on the TDR. First two shots bang on next one high, next one low etc......... Rotated the silencer clockwise 1/8th of a turn - same as above. Rotated the silencer clockwise another 1/8th of a turn - same as above. Help with Air Arms TDR please
sibaldib replied to sibaldib's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Thanks Si. Tonight, I'm going to put the TDR silencer on the S400 to see if that works correctly. If it does, then obviously I have some kind of barrel problem. The annoying thing is that this couldn't only just have happened and the seller must have noticed this, but of course there's no way of proving it. I want to get it sorted out now as it is bugging me! Cheers Sib -
Help with Air Arms TDR please

Evening chaps, OK - got home from work tonight and tried the rifle without the silencer. I was holding a lamp, whilst my lad took 10 shots from about 15 yds to get an idea of what was happening. When I went to look, all the shots had gone through a hole the size of a 5 pence piece. My lad, who is a locksmith then got out a fibre optic torch he uses to look inside locks and found that there were marks on the exit end of the silencer where the pellets had obviously been clipping. I have tried the silencer from my S400 but I am back to square one with that so the problem must be m -
Nice shooting Si. You really do love that R10, don't you? Sib

Help with Air Arms TDR please
sibaldib replied to sibaldib's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
OK, thanks guys. I also forgot to say that I released the barrel band and then re-attached and it was the same as before. I can understand the lower mounts helping with initial zeroing, but that surely wouldn't be responsible for high shots, then low shots, would it? I think before I start bu**ering about with the scope mounts gain, I am going to: 1) give the barrel a good clean 2) try the gun without the silencer attached. Thanks again guys - keep the ideas coming. Sib -
Help with Air Arms TDR please
sibaldib replied to sibaldib's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Thanks Shay. I did swap silencers but not take it off completely as I was zeroing in my garden and didn't want to upset the neighbours. I need high mounts as the scope is 3-9x50 and it has a S410 magazine that need clearance provided by the high mounts, but I get your drift. Cheers Sib -

Hi Davy. I knew I'd forget to say something else I did. Yes - every time I tried something different I re-centred the turret adjusters. Help! Sib -
I bought a second hand AA TDR in .177 last week off someone on the BBS forum. I already have a S400 with Rowan magazine and wanted to use the scope, presently on that, on the TDR. I went through the usual routine of setting up the scope, but could not get it anywhere near zero. I then realised it was shooting something like 7†low at 30 yds. I took the scope off again and shimmed it on the back mount with some 35mm film and the point of aim moved to a more reasonable level. Again I tried zeroing in but sometimes the pellets would go high and sometimes low. I tried both Bisley Magnums

Looks like you guys all had a good day. We had horrible drizzly rain down here in the south and I didn't see any rabbits in the paddocks all day. I see Festa has his " as seen on the DVD" Prosport up for sale. Cheers Sib

I think it is the fact its a new gun plus the fact that I don't hold it correctly. I have been given a lot of good advice on the Weihrauch forum, but it's really hit and miss (pun intended) When I get it right it is a deadly accurate gun, but that is only in the minority. I,ve put about 200 pellets through it if that. Shame, as its a super rifle. I might get it tuned, but don't want to spend £150 only to find I still don't like it! Sibaldib is my forum name. Cheers Sib

I suppose you'll be taking vermin with this soon and showing us all up. I can't hit diddly squat with my new HW95. Very depressing. Sib

Let us know how you get on as, for the price, it looks a good buy. Cheers Sib

Very nice Si. The scope cam makes all the difference. Some great shots there. Cheers Sib

AA S410 TDR accuracy issue
sibaldib replied to silentshot1's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I agree with Davy on this - fill to a lower pressure. I have found on my AA S400 Classic in .22 that 175bar is a good fill pressure to start at. I have just acquired a .177 TDR so will have to start experimenting again. Cheers Sib -
Nice bag Si and great news that your son is coming along well. My lads were shooting when they were 11 or 12 and although they haven't continued it on, it has taught them a valauble lesson in gun safety etc. Cheers Sib

How to make metal targets for under a pound
sibaldib replied to zini's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Si, I am going to try to get up there in March or April depending on how I can organise my business trips. I should think you've got a potential future in pest control or airgun courses/days out etc Sib -
Nice video Si. The headshot on the corvid was amazing. Exactly how it should be done. Cheers Sib

Straight out of the box the HW97 will have less recoil, simply because of it's extra weight. I bought a HW95 recently and have been suprised by the recoil, having shot PCPs for the past few years. However tried a mate's 95 that has had over 5,000 pellets through it and it is a much nicer recoil. If you're not carrying it around much, I'd agree with the others, and go the HW97 route. Cheers Sib

BSA R10 shooting small targets and then scope camera hunting
sibaldib replied to zini's topic in Airgun Hunting
Brilliant footage Si. Particularly liked the 40 yarder where you were making allowance for holdover and windage. I guess this just comes from experience, but I'm not sure I would have the confidence to move off target that much for the wind. More please. Cheers Sib -
Both rifles put out just below the legal limit. The HW95 is best for hunting as it is light in comparison to the HW97. However the downside is that there is a fair amount of recoil until it is run in, after a few thousand shots. The HW97 is very accurate and has less recoil, but I wouldn't want to carry one around all day. To be honest you won't go wrong with either of them. Cheers Sib
