    Cragman, sorry to hear that mate. If people cant be bothered back filling & tidying up after themselves they shouldn't be digging in the first place, it's part & parcel of the sport. I always take pride in my hunting what ever it may be & would never go on someones land without permission, not on mate!!

    Already tried that mate but the farmer said the shooters are all paying a grand each & don't want anyone else on the land, I even offered to feed pheasant/ partridge & keep an eye on them but they don't want the land disturbing, they said they will shoot the foxes themselves at night if they cause any problems

    Thats a kind offer mate thanks but might be a bit far, maybe 4 hours drive but will not rule it out. I have been down that way when I used to do moto-x to Rhayader at Toms farm, if your permission is anything like that terrain it was pretty impressive your a lucky man

    Thanks Blackheart, i will not mess anyone about & I'm 100% genuine lad, people on here will vouch for me if need be. Genuine interest in hunting, terriers, ferreting, shooting & falconry but I've not done a great deal with terriers & would like to get into it if anyone is willing. Thanks, Richard

    Open forum? I am not asking for anything illegal, I would only help dig with someone who has written permission from the landowner for the protection of gamebirds etc??

    I know it's a long shot but are there any experienced terriermen digging with land owners permission from the Cheshire area that go out on their own & could do with a helper/ general dogs body to give them a hand digging, carrying gear etc or even just for a day out with terriers. Lost my permission to a shooting syndicate & was just getting started this season so after a mentor really or just tag along on a couple of digs to get some experience. If anyone wants to ring me for a chat send me a pm & I will give you my number, if not I will keep looking for some new permission. Like

    Cheers for reply, I have got an old blackbirds nest with eggs & a couple of egg shells in, bread on top & under a tree, they are landing in tree & having a look but not gone near trap yet. Do you think if I shot one and propped it up in trap they would come down, think they may be wise to traps as it is on a farm & may have seen them before?? Thanks, Rich

    Thanks for the replies, I don't mind digging at all, I think the deepest I've dug to a ferret is 4 foot so easy work really & this particular Jill always stays put with her rabbit, she seems to lock on & have had rabbits bolt with her still attached & she still doesn't let go! The other Jill is very clever & will work every hole until it's cleared, she is 3 & has never killed yet, if she does get one in a stopend she will just scratch away until she's lifted out. I enjoy both their styles & am always guaranteed good sport when I take them out. Also the one I dig to regu
