  2. Stanleigh, I don't go out there to specifically take pheasants, but if the dog finds one or two then fair play, and I will enjoy eating them. Now if someone was putting their dogs onto poults then posting "Yeah great look what my dog has caught" then that's But sometimes a poult may be caught. I can also see the other side to rearing and releasing these birds, it's hard work, time and £££. My dogs work for me, they find and they catch, I take and I eat it. Nothing goes to waste. Like I said in my post, "Some may find this offensive" I'm not messing with anyones sport........
  3. nice thomas. what was the technique? dogs? shotgun or rifle? how many hounds do you run on the coyotes? do you drive the farms until they hit hot scent or just drop them in a likely area? tracking collars? i like those plotts. i know a guy who runs a brace for racoon & bobcat & a few times they've gone for deer behind their pens, before he has them collared, lol. he gets si p'oe'd. it was all night once, lol. ever x the hounds w/any terriers? those bears tear up a lot of dogs? it must be wild running them in those jungle forest. cheers & thanks,

  5. it's real real contraversial here. when they originally released them, i believe there was to be a breeding quota & then a season was to be opened. good policy, because you could raise a lot of money for wild lands conservation by selling a few high dollar tags, plus outtfitters make $, etc. Win, win. Like africa where the trophy hunters in some cases fund a lot of the parks & wildlife conservation plans for the good of the whole ecosystem. But, a lot of the seasons have been blocked etc. Supposedly killing a lot of dogs. Been great for the forests & trout though. they push
  6. ( sorry aaron, meant to reply to the collar ques. here is the write up that accompanied the email,....not sure of validity, but a friend fwd it to me from last march. can't see much farce in it. salmon area is wild, remote & beautiful.... "Heidi Leavitt shot this wolf just outside their home down river at Spring Creek. Heidi was in the store and said that they have had a pack running around their place and decided when they heard them coming their way again, they would try and shoot one (she did have a tag). So next time came quickly and while waiting for the pack to get cl
  7. thomas- good luck with your wife, our thoughts & prayers are with you. my sister in law just fought off the cancer plague w/a stage 3C prognosis, 4, they don't even treat you. Knock wood. Keep fighting & sending love, good on ya. You gotta be the tough one. you'd be a real wanker, out hunting & not being w/her. plus it's been interesting for us all hearing your experiences in another part of the world, particularly the great white north. i'm in a better boat, knock wood, 2 new kids, new biz starting,(stuck on computer) & wifey not giving any time for release, ,lol. wouldn
  8. Uphill waddya mean "still believe" Dan anytime ya get the urge to talk about mary-liz gimme a shout  Good read guys . I thought i'd share these because i had em & thought you might enjoy. The 1st one is from ny state pred club, i believe... The 2nd, a friend fwd from somebody in idaho during their season. Seems somewhat cheesy doing it w/out dogs doesn't it? lol. Wow, ooh, mammal w/700x brain capacity launches bullet 1.3 miles to unsuspecting creature. OOh, tough guy, lol. But, i guess losing 10 dogs every course... It seemed fitting for the forum since most d
  9. a few more pics, why not,- airedale backing a point, lol.
  10. i'll put $ on it skycat, when they're ready., lol. we can donate the proceeds to thl or a charity that accepts pay pal, given in the name of thl & lurchermen. it's a fun way to keep it competitive. i.e., i'll put some money up thru paypal to the thl charity acct, saying they won't be straight lined, somebody else pledges a few quid, saying no fn way, etc, etc. it could be a load of fun & good way to donate a few bucks to charity in the name of dog hunters, imo. it'll have to be a fair slip, distance, etc. 1 out of 3, maybe. doesn't have to be a lot of money, either, couple buck
  11. she's sweet skycat. i like that hard look in her eye. i've had some of the craziest shiite happen when calling fox at night. Particularly, once, i set up around the bend on top of a rise on an overgrown logging/staging area ( very wide 75yds where they load & stack logs ), what i do ( in whatever state or country it's ok to do ), is run a rope thru their collars so i can just pull it free when they're sent, & we were calling about 15 mins & they got bored, layed down, i was sitting on a stump at the inside edge of the rise, starting to think about other things, looking at the
  12. The very best of the best will catch and kill a coyote by itself. They can do this because of their speed, power, brains, and grit. The correct mixture of these four things will kill coyotes. These dogs are extremely fast and powerful. They combine that with their technique and their courage and they overwhelm a coyote and there isnt much of a fight. If they couldnt do this they couldnt catch and kill a coyote. These dogs have been bred hard for many years but as of late I am seeing a trend towards speed alone and it's sad cuz they fast dogs for the most part are cowards that will trip a
  13. I dont doubt there may be an Airedale that can kill a shot coyote or maybe even one with a drag or a trap on it. That aint the same though and takes all of the coyotes skill away from it. Looking good skycat. Great read & cool pics & team. It will be interesting, like the one gent said, to compare these x's to your other lurchers. cheers, Well said Dan. Airedales can & do kill cornered or trapped coyotes, & have done it singely, one on one,& good ones can do it w/most dogs near their class too, but coyotes are so feckn fast it blows me away. do the sta

  16. They are similar in some aspects (in fact back in the 1970s they were thought to be the same breed until people realised that there were differences) and were used in North Africa for hunting the same game (hare, gazelle) but also there are considerable differences The Azawakh is taller than its body length, with very upright leg angulations, with straight back (not rounded like whippet or greyhound) sloping slightly upwards from withers to haunches (whereas the Sloughi is slightly longer in body length) The Azawakh should have white markings on chest/neck, all 4 feet and tip of tail (
  17. yes, it's possible, & please do & attach yourself to it as well, w/a very large rock attached to your head & please post results. cheers,
  18. cool photos. there are a lot in ny, vt, me, canada. pa just opened a 1 only trapping season, dmf idiots. I love them because they eat porcupines, that's why they release them where they got trapped out. They rip open the porc's face & flip em & grill em, lol. i've seen 2 on logging roads in quebec. my dogs had 1 treed for 1 minute & it in an overgrown clearcut jungle & it was gone. fastest black blur i've ever seen. cheers,
  19. this is an unbelievable clip. i nearly spilled my beer. cheers, http://www.flyrodreel.com/blogs/tedwilliams/2010/september/want-catch-pound-striper http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/7132093/
  20. My lurcher loves feathered game. Geese she really likes to hunt, but she hunts em all, turkeys, grouse, quail (released), pheasant, dove & songbirds, lol. I feed tons of birds in winter & if she's really bored she'll bay up the birds/bark & circle a small apple tree near the feeder where the birds congregate, lol. She's good under the shotgun too. My favorite bird hunt is stalking geese on marshes or fields & sending her for the flush inside 30-40-50 yds,= complete mayhem flush & often she gets her own on the way up, . cheers,
  21. sweet pups, what are they x' with?

  24. caught nine white marlin the other day! we hooked 15, & saw 25-30 in one short day. It was insane, everyone grabbing rods & screaming " longrigger, flatline, etc, every time one of the beauties ripped through the spread at 50 mph wreaking havoc, lol. It was pure beautiful chaos nearly all day long too. Talk about andrenaline...each one of those marlin was potentially worth $100,000's. What a rip. It's that august marlin moon. We came in 4th i believe out of 137 boats for most marlin caught & released in the 3 day tournament but still no money.... great times though &
