    After speaking face to face with Ronnie Irvin (kc chairman) about the breeds future for an hour or two I can tell the doubters that kc WILL happen..eventulay. They (the kc) are excited about registering a British breed instead of so many new overseas breeds. Irvine has said the breed is superb and has ticked all the boxes ..but the polotics that go with the breed well thats another story..but we endevour. As for Kc ruining any breed then thats a little short sighted, and old school. Esepcily now after this years cock up with the BBC and crufts. Id like to see the breed recognised, this

    the plummer im fed up of seenig this dog in the country mans weekly diging rats and markink rabbits why as this dog never made a good earth dog and never will in my eyes,simply becouse its line is shite and the dog is lacking in capability and isnt realy a diging dog.i have owned one my self the friendship was short and sweet and it wasnt what i would call a terrier,shallow scared and didnt like the punisment.i read a lot of plummers books when i was younger,because they was the only books avalible but the breed is shite and not worth a carrot i have yet to see a good single handed dog two bot

    Oh yes theirs loads of breeds of terriers ive come across and Plummers that are nervous around groups of lads etc ..mainly coz they associate loads of noise and feet with a day trip to the nearest earth and a swift boot down holes with a fell boot up there ass,,when actualy they would rather "do it by myself quitely thanks."..I've retrained many of these, "none working hole shy yappers that are useless"..they need a quite voice and encouragement without any other dogs about!!..(which is uncommon) and more time than the average terrierman can give or wants to give.     I PUT THIS UP ON OUR PLUMMER FORUM AND HERE IS A BIT I WROTE ON THERE...HENCE THE PLUMMER BITS IN IT. It has to be said alot of todays ratting is done "around" making a living,which is a must. I understand the problem of other dogs. For me hunting is a lone thing though really Id much prefer my own company so i can learn the dogs signs. Having "others " about especially ratting is stressful for me and i think for my dogs especially any males who simply dont work but over mark each others marks, for ages.     Does anyone know anyone anywhere that uses ferrets instead of smokers to bolt rats?...are the old customs dieing?.. The only thing mechanical around my dogs noses are spades! IMO..ratting is best done with time on your hands ..slowly and methodical. I cant belive a terrier can mark well when a smoker is used. What about when your done and walk away from a hole do you let the terrier follow you with the terrier eager to see you stik the damn thing in the next hole.Seems to me that the work is being done by the smoker and guy on the trigger instead of only ferreting the terrier marked wa

    Yes brian gave me a pup after helping out work on a boat. Proetus turned out to be excellent ratter and was eventualy lost to ground in wales at a hunt. I wanted Barad his sister but she was given away to medlars and her genes not used properly. Kotian Salem produced one bitch *Barad and loads of dogs .trembling,scud,diemos pazzaz, phobos, proteus. trembling lost his throat to pig, phobos nearly did, all the males were fighters big style! But nearly all had inherited problems of the joints. Salems sire was "VAMPIRE" mm plenty of lads on here would love to hear more about him!

    Yea pig farm with a squre pit we ferreted the edge of the pit and bolted plenty . It was aknown ratting spot day and night, lost a russell there down a drain hole.

    Filmed years ago mind 148 rats in 1hour all bolted by a tiny jill ferret and some water. ..whos offspring i purchased kept for over ten years and bred upteen generations .The plummers were mine . A san bred daughter a rocky barad son and proteus from plummers kotion and salem. My mates black and white russell was a little soft, and lacked courage for me. The other dark fell crosses were digging dogs from a man who poached the whole of the northwest and bred some great lurchers.
