Hi All, I am looking for some rabbit shooting to train our spaniels up for field trials . The ideal land would be rushy white grass where the rabbits sit tight on. Myself and a good friend would like to find some land around 3hrs from north wales. we would only be shooting around once twice a month . We are fully insured and fully responsible mature men. And have a old school ethic of trust and respect. don’t mind paying or happy to return a favour. Any help would be great . Many Thanks

I have to say aswel can make them soft, when i use to work dogs, i use to bring them in after a days working and dry them off and it gives you a good chance to check them over for cuts/thorns/and any other problems. cheers

It all depends on how quick you dropped his weight to, if you dropped it drastically, they will scream to. Has he killed yet.. it very hard to give an opinion over the net with out seeing the bird and knowing the "in's and out's" of what you have been doing and your training process, isnt there someone local that can help you out. all the best

I dont normally comment on posts but I would just like to comment on a well writen post for the sale of your pup, and looks like you have taken time in using the right wording, not like some adds on here, I wish you good luck in the sale of the pup and hope you find the right home, and you seem the type of person that does'nt come along often on here selling a pup, and if i was in the market for a pup regardless of distance i would be straight up of a trial on this pup. all the best -
ya got to be quick..haah

yes i have seen this in the past, but its all to do with keeping a certin line between friends and for maybe future breeding, somebody may have a dog which they would like to use if proven, as most straight hard working people and are really into field sports are not in it for the money its about having a good working dog, so pups are passed around friends or good friends of a friend, that one day, will return the good deed, in all forms of field sports this goes on, i know for people giving away £2500 birds of prey so in the future the deed will be returned, all about preserving the

Ive seen on local shoot's around me to be the same not many with papers, and i feel the one of the main reasons is a few people see a good working dam and sire on a shoot, and you always get, "when they have pups can i book one" and so on , in the end the guy has order of 5 pups, and because most people whom rough shoot or beat locally are not really bothered about papers or FTCH, because they have seen with there own eyes a great dam & sire work any cover retrieve from anywhere, and take any comand, the dogs are sold even if it had a certifcate from tony tiger Kellogg's Frosti

When i train my dogs, I will thow out on dummy left 1st dummy,,,,,, then one right, second dummy.. I then will send the dog out for the 1st dummy, as the dog will be concentrating on the last dummy thown and this makes a steady dog. thats the way i do it. but am sure some people do it different all the best

I dont really like to put anything down or anyone on a forum, it just not me. But i would say not really i use to be in it when it was free, and its wasnt any good, and now you have to pay, theres nothing on there you could find out with BASC or a loacl keeper or a friend whom has working gundogs save your money for a good beating stick. really i would get chatting to a local keeper pop round and have a chat, am sure with the season on its way they might be on the look out for some good beaters even better if you have a dog you will get paid. all the best -
good on ya selling to good working homes. am sure a few pictures of the dam & sire will help sales all the best with the pups
