  1. very sad mate, lost but not forgotten you will always cherish the memories. r.i.p honey.
  2. i had the , 77ex and the 90 all very capable guns but it all depends on how much you want to spend and can your dosh spread a bit further for say a aas410 second hand about 300-350 these are a lighter and more capable gun also with the kit on weirauchs they are even heavier, think about carting one around for a few hours.
  3. i have a bitch she is oxcroft she is coming along fine works the cover and doing ok on the ratting she is 13 mths old, what you have to take into account is that borders take a quite a bit longer to come on than say patterdale terriers and you need a lot of patience but great characters.
  4. quote: Hi mate I dont think tou would go far wrong with one of David Hancocks dogs 1/4 collie x 3/4 grey. what you would find is that you would have to put a lot of time and effort in to get these dogs upto scratch he hasnt worked them for years but they are striking looking dogs, and you get what the ads say, and yes im talking from experience as long as you go in with your eyes open knowing what you are buying.better of sticking to someone who is working this strain a collie/grey is about the best rabbit/ferreting dog you can get but you get out what you put in.
  5. i have the the aas410k in 22 with all the kit there aint many better rifles for vermin control the rapids are 500 quid for a decent gun on its own so i would say this is a great buy at a good price the bbs gang are fair so at 525 he has had a bargain and now hes knocking off 50 quid, go for it.
  6. your all missing the point, he has an air rifle. go and shoot them at night with the air riffle . they roost at night in the trees . just go along and you will see them silueted against the night sky. easy to shoot i cant remember but it may be illegal of a night or is it with a lamp.
  7. the best of luck with you mate perservering to try and get a good home for the dog you obviously want a good home so keep at it.
  8. mcdonalds, tesco's anywere they have bins outside all good ones but you have to be careful in these places however places like tips stream banks anywhere were there is an abundance of food and somewhere for them to dig in,try the farm ditches by the corn or winter carrots and also feed hoppers for pheasant/partrigdes.
  9. we tend to take a diluted version of dettol in the field and clean them up in the back of the van because sometimes it can be a long day and then they get swollen it works for us.
  10. great dogs whippets for rabbits ,nothing quicker off the mark and can turn on a sixpence, look for breeding with nimrodel/laguna line in it and you wont go far wrong.incidently they ate more than a rabbiting dog and would also make good ratters and work the cover, good luck with your search.
  11. try goldeneye from the chemist and bathing with lukewarm milk.
  12. well done gang cant wack a good days ratting and the bigger dogs do make a great asset to any ratting team just that much quicker and powerful, all good fun.
  13. quote. First tings first. You don't NEED to be able to get a 1 inch group at 35 yards to hunt rabbits. You do need to be fairly accurate though. The kill zone on a rabbit is bigger than 1 inch. More important is your field skills, the actual hunting of the rabbit. The abillity to stalk your prey and get closer than 35 yards. Secondly, you wont get permission by coming on a hunting website, and asking for it with one of your first posts. When I first got back into fieldsports, I posted on what was the best way of going about getting my own permission, rather than just asking for it. I got
