Just the way I do things in winter mate, also you do more damage to rape etc when it's frozen walking through it etc so better to wait a few hours after dawn
summertime I like to be out before first light especially if I'm after crow's on standing barley
Hi mate I made my own aswell ( well my grandad did lol ) we tried a few with different size holes, think 2mm one side and 4mm the
worked brilliant managed to call a few in the day which was nice
Hi mate
I usually give it all day because most of my permission is a fair drive, but I keep in contact with farmers and have a look the week before for flight lines etc
This time of year is awkward because one shot and they are gone
I used to set up at first light but just through my experience its better to let them have a feed first thing then set up otherwise you spook the whole flock that's just come off the roost
That way they will drift back in smaller flocks
The only difference I noticed is that the newer winnies seem to be harder, pass straight through a rabbits head whereas the older ones used to mushroom more
What methods do people use to keep their spaniels at heel whilst walking with a lead?
I've been trying for weeks by snatching the lead back shouting heel etc but within 20 yards there is tension on the lead again, so then repeat snatching again but after about two miles it gets a bit tedious, tried changing direction etc but no signs of improvement
My lamping partner has a saluki whippet greyhound pup about 3 month old and 20 tts, how big do you think it will get? Its a dog, I know it can vary but what do you think the usual size it for a second cross? Cheers
Tidy cheers mate I want it cut right down so the mod is nearly touching the fore end, only be shooting out to 300 yards, my ammo is about 3300 fps, what will this go down to if I cut it from 20 to 16 inches?
I hope not casso but she is very driven and yesterday was a nightmare, completely ignoring whistle and voice commands
Also started pulling on the lead aswell, no matter how many times I pulled her back with a very sharp tug and said heel within five yards there was tension on the lead again and I walked her a good mile and a half after work just on the lead with no improvement at all
My springer bitch is 16 months old now, and I thought I was getting somewhere but yesterday she was a completely different dog
Ignoring the whistle at times and just not responding to most commands, what made it worse was she chased a rabbit and ignored the stop
I know I will have to go back to basics for a while but how do you stop them from chasing rabbits??
Can this be done without access to a rabbit pen?
Dan I had the same problem I took mine to brocks and he put a stronger spring in it and cleaned it fine since
He stripped the bolt in about half a second lol
I'm going to feed mine raw for a bit, see how she goes
Does anybody on here no where to buy chicken mince in bulk around the shropshire area?
