Western Rivers Caller Worked
Rifleman88 replied to Rifleman88's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
hi hunter, sorry for the late reply, went out again last night. Had 22 rabbits in hereford. Saw 2 foxes but only had the .22lr. i'm using a Browning A-Bolt .223 with 50g norma. Got a pvs 14 mounted on the back with a night master 800 on top. i spot with a fst thermal scope. Expensive setup but I'm in the marines so I've signed out the nv and thermal for free from the store lol. Strange to miss a fox at 100y the 22.250 flies pretty flat aswel and wind won't affect the round that much at 100. that being said I've missed a few in my time lol. The caller is western rivers, think my mate payed -
So i borrowed my mate's western rivers caller to try it out last night. Never really used one so i wanted to try it out before i get an electric caller. After sitting in one spot for 1 1/2 hours and necking a litre of coffee, the tricky vixen I've been after showed up. Spotted her through the thermal and she decided to sit on a bank behind a load of trees giving me no clear shot. She sat there for 10 minutes after i lowered the volume without moving. Finally i changed the call, whacked the volume up and she came flying into the caller which was at 100 yards. She wouldn't stop moving and was s

I'm away from home at the moment so pics to follow. Im selling my AAs410 superlite as i only really shoot firearms now. Also my clutch has gone on the BMW, so i need the extra cash. It comes with a swivel bipod, silencer, hawke 3x9x40, 1 mag, Leather woven sling, a hard case and a 3ltr divers bottle. I an looking for £700 ono. I'm not to happy about selling it as its a cracking little gun and as you all know the S410 is a pleasure to shoot, that being said, needs must and she has to go to a new home, Cheers Lads, Serious offers only please, Rifleman. -

Alrite Guys, Is anyone interested in purchasing any of theses diy gongs? 12" by 10mm. Ive tested it with 17hmr at 100 yards .22lr at 60. .223 at 200yards. The targets hold up well. I wouldn't go any closer than 150/200 yards with the .223 though as i think eventually the rounds would punch through. Ive been using them for the past month and their much more fun than paper. You don't have to walk down range to see when you've hit as is swings and make a very satisfying "DING". The beauty of them is that they are reusable targets. I just carry a small can of white hamerite spray and w

Nice work, sorry I've been a while getting back as I've been away, if your that close we should have a meet and shoot.

About an hour apart, squeaking wasn't bringing them in but the dying lamb call had the vixen running in, I shot her around 10 o'clock then after dragging her to my makeshift hide I switched to the vixen call. Dog fox ran along the same path I dragged her along about 30 mins later.

Farmers chuffed, I'm going to have a look for the Cubs tonight. It's military NVG from work

Three Lambs gone in a week, got a phone call yesterday to try and help out. Went to the land in the day time to range everything then zeroed the 223 for 200 yards. Shot vixen first at 240 yards and the Dog was around 220. Used a dying lamb call and tried squeaking but wouldn't come any further in.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I'll wait until I've slung a bit more lead down range before I'm concerned. Accuracy is bang on though. Another quick one, any tips on cleaning the whisper?

Sportsman didn't have eleys in which were my first choice, but the Winnies don't feed smooth, also I have to rip the bolt back to make sure the brass extracts, is this normal for an Annie? My .223 slings the brass about 2 foot when I cock it

yep whisper fitted, had 12 bunnies lastnite. the winchesters aren't the best in it though, feels rough when its feeding.

Just been out and zeroed for 60 yards, baffling accuracy! going out for a mooch now, taking the .223 too incase mr fox is about. i'll post tomorrow with a pic of my hopefully big bag
