  5. Yes, each gun, be it shotgun, air rifle, rifle etc needs it's own license, each of which cost € now and last for three years.

  8. An ordinary house alarm wouldn't be too bad. The monitored alarm would be a bugger though. I got this house costed by PhoneWatch before, it was either €1,200 or €1,800 I can't remember which, you've been here so you know it's not a mansion! There'll be plenty of fun & games for the next few weeks that's for sure
  9. Look at the application form Zook. Section 6.1 asks for details of other licenses, so as usual here each gun will be licensed. Also, NARGC.ie will have a sample filled in form on their website sometime soon, there's already a little info on there about it.
  10. Rumors There was debate a while back on differing levels of security. Depending on number of guns, types of guns (rimfire rifles, shotguns, centrefire rifles, pistols etc.). I would think myself that everyone will need at least a secured gun cabinet. As for alarms, could be just normal house alarm, or a monitored alarm such as Eircoms Phone Watch. But, wired to the cop shop, no, definitely not.
  11. It's € per gun but that's a saving or a cost depending on what you have. € for a rifle for three years is good considering it was €38 per year for every rifle. Though people with more than one shotgun are getting the shitty end of the stick as subsequent shotguns are now also € x 3 years instead of the reduced rate that they used to be. The new security standards haven't been published as yet. I believe they're due to be published this week sometime. In my opinion it's a mess, but like anything it'll get worked out.
