  1. touching on the subject of the russells, do any of you lot on here keep the russells of the longer haired variety. Or are none of the longer haired variety up to much??
  2. cracking BT dawn, perfect head on the lil' one. I'd like to know more regarding colours from someone in the know, My Brother has a Blue & Tan & he keeps siring Blues thats it, it now seems like a good quality to have, we have his son off the litter which will be ready at the end of Feb, I will have to get some images up. We were gutted that the litter was completely Blue as he was put to a cracking Red bitch & we wanted a Red dog,you never know what the genes will throw I suppose! RS
  3. Erm it sounds like you have caused a few problem with the retrieving, The first thing I would be working on, is the recall. If that was 100% the dog will be returning to you, not its bed or running away! Secondly you may of bored the dog with retrieves, Less is honestly more in alot of cases. If you feel you done too much retrieving when the dog was younger really lay off it for a good few weeks or months. I would then steadily introduce a dummy maybe with a rabbit skin, don't throw this dummy at first over a sustained period I would tease the dog with it in an enclosed area, the dummy
  4. with a pup Nik i would definitely ergh on the cautious side & take ollie the vets, as you say he is acting out of sorts & you think there is a problem... Thats enough to warrant a visit to the vets, I was always taught its best to be safe, than sorry! Good luck & i hope its nothing
  5. Jason looks like a great lil' pack, like the look of the cocker looks a very nice stamp mate Keep getting on your good days out Dave it sounds like you have some terrific sport & you love the mooch, get some more images up aswell Always like your threads pal.
  6. the above response is so true, dogs just starting thinking of getting there leg over if bred from too young
  7. great response Hannah, with you 100%, too much retrieving will spoil your dog, you need to really lay off it, tease the dog with a certain toy as Hannah mentioned, a tennis ball may be good as you could store it in the dogs food, scent will be on it then and more interesting. don't be throwing the ball long distances when you do start the retrieving again, just sit down and throw the ball in a very close proximity, teasing then throwing & lots of fuss. Hopefully pup will like the game & you keep taking baby steps until your on the real thing, no pressure & no rushing to take the ba
  8. Great News, i'm over the moon for yourself and the dog... good to hear a good ending for once
  9. couldn't agree more Kay, i've been hammered on my reputation, all abit of fun to me though.
  10. Good luck in getting him back BB, i hate reading threads like this its too often for my liking the thefts of dogs, I will keep my eye about and keep looking on websites with dogs for sale, hope the pup comes up! GOOD LUCK pal
  11. haha thanks lads, i'm posting some serious shite! just looked at my rating and i've been hammered, like the new idea THL...good to have some feedback off posts, think i'm going to be in for a very poor reputation
  12. As above, do members rate you to determine this?? Just looked at mine and its a minus 1, baffled about it, and would love to know a heads up thanks all.
  13. easy to handle is much better than constantly keeping on top of them, how are yours marked Dell, heavily or alot of white, would of been good to keep some paperwork even if you didn't reg them. I agree there is alot of snobbery when it comes to dogs, RS
  14. nice topic dillan, set up looks great and love your good honest replies, hope the pup makes a good one
  15. some great advice once again Dell, I agree with you on running the one pup on, all focus is on getting the dog upto par instead of struggling with 2. Dell it sounds like you keep a very nice line of springers, and you have continued to do so, well done on that pal.
  16. agree with the above, pedigree is a bonus working ability is the key... not numerous ftch is pedigree.
  17. i'm spot on mate, you need to hurry up & sell the dog, I'm wanting her very bad haha
  18. now is the perfect age for getting the health tests done, regarding breeding him its down to you, but the dog must be of great quality for people wanting to use him at such a young age, you haven't gone out on your own back looking for a mating people are coming to you so your dog must be of a very high standard so well done to you, i also share your reservations about waiting to breed, but if he has all the right qualities and he is in good health aswell as breeding for the right reasons whats stopping you. I MUST ADD get the health test done first though pal. RS
  19. the fu**in pri** needs a good slap,no need for having good honest folk off, fed up of reading stuff like this
  20. she's bloody gorgeous and if she is doing all that the price is very fair, if i had the space and my missus allowed it,she'd be on her way here now!!
  21. think of his growing bones though, don't over do with a pup especially a lab.
  22. very smart, thats set you back a fair bit hasn't it!!
  23. Nik he looks great, he's a bruiser isn't he...made up for you. Now to the serious talk haha, this present time is going to be very hard for you and the family, you may have a bundle of joy but alot of hard work comes with it as you have noticed, the key is getting some sort of house training going otherwise the mess will get you down. The key is to keep an eye on the dog, whe he starts to circle in the same spot or his behaviour changes ie sniffing more and so on, you get up take him straight outside, even if he doesn't want to-lead him by his collar. wait with him outside and even if
  24. very nice offer dabber, valley hounds don't turn your back mate plod on and remember the good times with your bitch, so sorry for your loss.
  25. snap I like that alot " time spent out training and bonding = success in the field" never a truer word spoken put the graft in and have a great bond your dog will do anything for you, well in the case of my bitch she will doe anything for herself
