  1. think this is a great lil' thread and would love more opinions on if people think it follows on? Or is a learnt habit? I know springer men don't believe in breeding dogs which give tongue, and they say field trials are the best way of testing a dog, but i know of a OFTW which open up if left to go hot, the dog in question needs numerous days of beating just to settle him for a trial... more responses will be great. Great lil' thread Dell
  2. I disagree Dell, I think a dog which is expected to hunt to soon has a strong chance of being a yapper, the excitement gets to it or on the other hand is over matched and the yap comes from frustration... I think that Yapping isn't from breeding I think its the nature of the dog, maybe of an excitable nature, or has been brought on too soon or overmatched...
  3. all depends what you think of your dogs... personally would never sell one, when they are my dogs, they are mine for life, someone could offer me grands for my 2 here now & wouldn't take it, one has her hang ups but I accept them & more than likely I caused that, but at the end of the day she's my lil buddy and alot of blood, sweat & tears have gone into her.. ££££ spoils dogs
  4. should of got this sorted weeks ago, wish you luck in getting them done though pal
  5. good name, well chosen goes with his markings, just stick to the basics, no need to rush for months, less is more... and don't let bad habits start
  6. she looks spot on, exactly how a clumber should look,,
  7. very smart bitch, doing the job aswell, well done FH
  8. these are one of the bigger kennels, them and bridgnorth, definitely getting one of these in the future, have a ladies email address who may give you some relevent info if you want.
  9. come on pal, tie wraps no good no more Hows the mutts? Hos is the pup getting on?
  10. I personally think a bitch should be around 3 to 4 years old minumum, this is due to having atleast 2 seasons under her belt and proving her worth, like wise for a dog. Personally I wouldn't put a young dog across my bitch, like to use older stuff, which is now retired and putting good stock out there. Breeding youngsters on all levels is wrong
  11. cracking mix, the beagleXrussel, how are there tails for injuries though?? Used to spaniels myself got a bitch with a long dock and its forever being shredded, is it the same with these? Thanks
  12. Brog BBB is not being funny mate, he means the dog has obviously seen some graft , Good set up by the way aswell as good stamps
  13. very good subject to raise, I was taught you pay for quality... but when it comes to dogs that doesn't matter, the dog with the most potential I have was given to me for free, the breeder knew he would have a good home. I agree if something has been given away for free its easy come easy go, but that lies with the breeder, he should place the dogs where he knows they will have a great permanent life, be that a pet home or working...That doesn't matter if the pups are free or a £1000. This is the problem we are now having with dogs, backyard breeders-puppy peddlars have jumped on to br
  14. the sporting lucas terrier get worked, alot of people use them on shoots, beating and some are good retrievers. Obviously a good companion for general mooching, ferreting. I fancy one in the future, when i have the space and time is right. Rather expensive though £350 i think, google Sporting Lucas Terrier, a breed club will come up. RS
  15. I set my dogs/pups up not to fail, i get up 3 times a night when they are youngsters, about 12, 3 & 6. Don't leave water down after 8 as mentioned, vigilance is the key and not letting any bad habits set in, after a few months you will be glad you have done it
  16. forget what people have to say, from reading your posts your up for a right laugh, go there and tear the place up, its what you make out of it mate,
  17. scent its okay mate, my missus prefers it there to centre parcs, its cheap and cheerful, and everyone is there for a good time, if you don't mind me asking how old is your lad, if he is younger than 10 he will enjoy it... older than that and the entertainment will be poor for him... Nice bits of countryside about, and the beach and that, oh and you have got Rhyl up the road, cinema complex, fair, good swimming bath and so on... If you intend on having a good time you definitely will
