  4. well i think rabbits are in ver good number in the macroom area, also the fermoy, mitchlestown area and anywhere in east cork and with other county,s then waterford and kerry are good.. kilorglin in kerry or glenbeigh is full of rabbits too..i know some lads on here have good sport in different parts of the country too... lets just say iv been hunting for about 20years and have never been pulled by the coppers.. i have strayed onto land i shouldnt have been and have had a few dodgy moments but nothing too bad... if its work your after on fry stone walls then county like galway, mayo e.t.c. mo
  5. a one about 4 miles from me takes 20 a week 4 or five of them and your sorted
  6. well there are plenty of chinese resturants to take the rabbits at a good price
  7. pmsl!!!!!!!! im a brick/stonelayer myself lad.. things are tight in construction at the mo... fingers crossed it will pick up!! but if they dont then plenty more time for huntin
  8. work is the same over here lad.. have been out of work myself a bit now!!! but prices and rent of houses are coming down here like thers no tomorrow and ya i know dunmanway.. about an hour,s drive feom me.. used to alot of fishing down that way for brown trout... rivers are full of fish there.. not sure about the huntin as iv not hunted that far down... and if the hunting is poor then ya are always welcome for some sport around by me
  9. defo worth considering lad as a lad i know has more permission than me that,s only here 5 years and the place is full of game!!! never has invited me down with the dogs though the fecker lol as he hunts with hawks, have been down there with the bro,s hawk though and there is everything there, rabbits in huge numbers(wasnt far from there tonight ) not so much hares but plenty of fox and deer.. another mate of mine came over last year and lives in co.kerry and has permission that holds lots of hares, deer and fox and a few rabbits... a bit of advice if you decide to take the plunge then south
  10. you would not regret the move lad as permission is not hard to get as there is no slips to fill out or nothing like that and the majority of the farmers are only delighted for ya to kill a few foxes and it was nice talking with ya lad makes nice a change to the usual bickering that goes on here
  11. very true lad and i know of a few that shipped over due to the ridiculous ban ye got over there!!! and i know what ya mean i had a bitch years ago that would take em day in and night out!!! i think alot give there dogs too many at an early age thats breaks em as for me ill give my fella just a few until he is 3yrs and fully matured.. and best of luck to you to lad
  12. cheers lad, just happy to be out after all the crap weather we had well i hope he does lad and with yours no rush is the best way sounds like the right breeding is there to make yours a good un on everythin and yes if only it was legall over there well i just hope he does as well the next time on one.. will see how he goes as with foxes some will never take one and some will but will turn away after a while and then there,s that few that will kill em till the cow,s come home
  13. strange how dogs with different breeding look similiar aint it.. my bro has a lurcher with totally different breedin that looks exactly like my black dog but there ya go.. sounds like a well bred dog ya have to make an allrounder which i like i didnt breed him myself i purchased him from a lad in wicklow and im delighted with how he is going.. i posted up recently with a night out i had where he picked a fox and with the aid of my black dog they killed it. suprising thing is that he had never even seen a fox till then but still got his head down and picked it and stayed there until the j

  17. thanks for the reply,s lads we were out for about 2 1/2 hours and we had some good sport.. the pup is really using his brain and running the rabbits very well, running outside the beam, cutting the rabbits fron the ditch, bursting through the cover when needs be and picking them on the run also.. he is doing everything in this his first season that my black lurcher is doing now.. even though he had 2 less rabbits i think he ran just as well and would have carried on all night if he had to.. regards SS
  18. myself and the bro were in two minds about heading out tonight as it was torrential rain all day but as it came to lampin time the heavy rain turn to drizzle and off we headed. when we got to our permission a bit of fog came in but it was just about workable. the first section we did was a few small fields and the rabbits were out in good numbers.. the ditches though are full of thick hawthorn bushes and the rabbits werent giving the dogs much of a chance and we only had 8 rabbits in the bag in the section..4 a piece... we then crossed over the lane and done a large hilly field and we had
