  1. Cheers bud. If you expect good dogs.At least give them good kennels.atb.Catcher exactly my way of thinkin lad
  2. yes iv heard that the colliexwhippet can be a bit to slow also from an owner hunting one for many years. still caught a few rabbits though but there are better crosses for rabbits imho
  3. pmsl!!! poor whin. think he talkes some sence if ya look between the lines but likes a good argument and all after 10pm where most of us have had a few to many

  5. cheers lads. hope N E poacher gets a few more idea,s lol. ps. taffybull yours looks like a quality setup lad
  6. i do think that alot of what becomes is what its owner puts in. so the choice is yours and it is endless. to have good working parents is a start though. best of luck lad
  7. Spot on catcher1. and thanks lad. iv not got loads of money but i think if my dogs give there best then they get the best that i can provide and since im in the building trade i was able to bulid them something to be comfortable and warm in especially after a hard, cold and wet nights graft. also in doing this i had the thinking that i only had to do this once and not having to rebuild and rebuild for future dogs. hopefully it will last a lifetime
  8. cracking setup taffybull. i think we are on the same page lad iv seen some dogs in ok,good and very good accomatation and seen some(even in this site) in spaces i would not keep a ferret!!!!! at the end of the day im not working like alot due to the recession but i am able as im in the trade to build my dogs a good setup for them to live in. at the end of the day this topic was for idea,s and thats what i put up. regards SS
  9. iv not pics of it finished as i kinda lost interest in taking pics on it as i was going but will take a few more of it finished tmrw
  10. what the f**k?????????why, why that exsessive??? work em hard and in return give em the best. im a builder by trade so done all the work myself. fully insulated cavity,s,roof and under beds.. after mine work the heart out then they have something comfortable to come back to. you must be one that keeps yours in a 4x4 run and bed that sleeps on concrete.
  11. im glad ya like the pics lad
  12. i should put up pics of finished runs but these are the ones i have of mine.
  13. they are steady they know there job and there doing OK,iv seen worse, the differance between a good dog and a bad one is a very fine line not to comment on the cross as iv never seen one work but i will say there is a big difference and not a fine line between a good and bad dog imo you can get any dog to work the light, any dog to catch a rabbit,a dog that is taken out 5 nights a week is steady, dogs that go out once or twice a week would probably look much better on the first few runs, but are they, if some one had two dogs that he trained him self they might look very much a like to s

  15. how many times has it been out on the lamp? best to get it on some squatters at the start and keep bringin him out till he learns that when the lamp is turned on then he is to be looking down the beam.. it just sounds like inexperience to me. often with younger dogs i had to hold the dogs head straight for them to see a rabbit getting up from a squatted position on the lamp and any running at any sort of distance they never seen at all. the take them out lamping before daytime i have never done. i do the opposite and never had a problem with mine hunting up. just sounds like ya need to s
