  6. Have done so many years ago, on full moon nights in the winter when there was a fresh covering of snow, always bagged more at night than during the day. But before we started we would walk a hedge row with burrows in it and look for the holes that were being used as the tracks were easily seen, we would stuff an old potato sack down the holes that were being used, and then walk up the side of the field and chase the rabbitts back to the hedge, they would go straight down the hole and get stopped by the sack the rabbit would sit tight, easy to come and pull them from the hole.
  7. Try putting out some markers on you permission, so you know how far you are away from the rabbits, or jus measure out distances from landmarks around the fields you shoot, this will help you judging how far the rabbits are from you. Dont worry to much, it may be that when you get a live target in you sights that you get over exited and start to shake a little, try dry shooting 1st get the rabbits in your sights so you get used to the balance of the gun and looking at quarry with a lamp, remember distance is a lot harder to figure out in the dark, when you are confident with it all get shoot

  13. As promised Dave here is the picture of this old boy, i reckon he was at least 4 years old, funny he wasnt lamp shy and came to the call like a train, reckon he was not as fit as he would have been if he was younger , so thats why he came in so easy, only my opinion and there was no signs of injury and he looked OK. Bit on the skinny side though, not eating to good
  14. Here we have for sale my chicken ark only 4 months old cost me £190 1st £ can have it, situated in the edinburgh area I housed 3 large hens in this, but i have a few more now so i built a hen house, hence why its up for sale.
  15. For your first FAC you are only going to get rimfire. Go for .22lr, ask for HMR. TBH, if you ask your FEO for a .223 as a first gun, he might decide that you know so little about firearms that you should not have a ticket at all. Frankly, I agree. Go for FAC air to start with. Ric If you have experiance and have good reason for being granted the calibre you ask for, they have to grant you it or they have to explain why you cant have it just to note that our situations, experience and qualifications might be very different but i was granted a .22/.17/.222/.243.308 all on first
  16. Good man who knows his 4x4s i would challenge anyone with a standard 4x4 vehicle with MUD TYRES fitted , to any trial against my Hilux on any ground or terrain that they choose if the can go mine will go better, and when you do get stuck its okay i will pass around you you and pull you free.
  17. How would this work if you get stuck in the middle of a field with NO anchor points ie: trees or posts, and the ground is to soft for a spike to be hammered in...... the best winch is a TOYOTA HILUX or a TRACTOR i would go for the 1st option not as heavy on the Diesel, double cab is best can get the wife and kids in the cab and the 2 dogs in the tub, its FECKIN hard to do this in a TRACTOR ONLY KIDDING DAVE its not worth the expense if you are not out and about every day, best tip is to keep back from lush green grass next to a sheep water trough with no sheep activity around it, usually
  18. Hope you called it in using my FOX CALLING c.d.
  19. firearm certs must be carried at all times when out shooting by law in Scotland anyway, i also inform nearest local police if i get any new permission, i also give them my buisiness card with my mobile phone No. on it, just in case they get any calls regarding shooting in the areas i shoot, its not the 1st time i have been called by policeto see if its me out shooting, before they waste a journey to come and have a look, they have also phoned me in the past to come and shoot wild animals that have been injured in road accidents, the most bizzare being to come and shoot an injured cow that had
