  1. here is a couple of pictures of the fox i shot last night with my 243 rifle @200yds, 1st picture shows fox with something in its mouth, the 2nd reveals a piece of rib bone from one of this years lambs.
  2. only difference is Magnum Primers Burn faster, was adviced to use these by local gunsmith as he found they worked best with the load i intended to use
  3. 2nd that Ian is a good lad knows his stuff and will be very happy to point you in the right direction regarding shooting items you will need, and will not sell you the dearest to make a few Quid, Sean the owner is the in house gunsmith and any work needed he is your man, and reasonable prices to boot...HAVE A HAGGLE with them, they are very happy to come and go a wee bit
  4. So they are no good for FOXES then, or have you just used it for magpies... Funny i have a call for magpies but have not called in a mgpie yet with it, i have called in Foxes with it !!!
  5. If you want to kill Rabbits and FOXES put down 22 rimfire Bolt or Semi whichever you prefer for Rabbits, and go for a 222 centre fire for FOXES TRUST me you will need this if you are targeting Foxes on A regular bases, if you are going to do a job use the proper calibre for your Quarry, also remember and put down sound moderators for both rifles along with your application.
  6. Here is what i use in my home loads with my Sako 75 Heavy barrel in 22/250 Hodgden Powder...Varget 34gr of powder with a Nosler Ballistic Tip 55g head and a CCI Magnum Primer. Awesome Fox Dropper...Took me a while to get it just right for me, if you are ever near Edinburgh give me a shout i will give you a few to try.
  7. If you were going to be refused your SGC they would not have done the checks and asked you a few questions regarding safety... If they have cashed your application payment then all is well, they dont cash cheques unless they are going to grant permission, if they do you can appeal and the guy from BASC will represent you as you say, i wouldnt worry to much, they have to give a good enough reason for refusal, and your convictions dont warrant a refusal, mines is far worse than yours by a long shot and i got mine OK Lothian & Borders issued it.
  8. Nice winter Foxes...and a good read, i actually thought i was there, as you had your rangefinder with you can you use it and get the distances your shooting them at, i am always keen on ranges Foxes are being shot at. cheers hiluxmk3
  9. I have a couple of 100w bulbs for lightforce, you can have one if you want it, i use them on my roof mounted lamp and my hand held lightforce. hiluxmk3
  10. Where are you about, i will let you try my Sako 22/250 heavy barrel with sound moderator
  11. I would buy new if you have the cash and as santa will be coming soon, go for a Smidt & Bender 6x42 (german) scope you can pick up a good one 2nd hand for around £300, and when you decide to replace it you will get your money back on it no problem.
  12. I have cz in 243, 550 American had it for 8 years now and has never let me down, also have a sako 75 heavy barrel in 22/250 that i use for FOX, if i had to let one go even though the sako is far superior in build and class ??? then i am afraid the sako would have to go, i value my cz far to much to part with it, even though it costs a 3rd less than the sako...IT STAYS and the sako goes. they are cheap and cheerfull like the FORDS in cars they go for ever if you look after them. GO BUY ONE... you wont regret it.
  13. nice looking fox cracking pelt for skinning out.
  14. Would have been very hard to be Father and Son, 1st picture is a vixen 2nd is a Dog, but they do look very similar i must agree.
  15. Who taught you to count.... I only missed one lol! It was a good night, and I find it very rewarding to help the older generation out and let you see the marvels of modern technology such as NV and light bulbs! . More than happy to sort out your lamp shy foxes anytime you want, and as Xmas is imminent I can feel an excuse to spend a little cash on a digital NV monocular so you won't be quite as bored. I got a degree in mathematics from the internet for 2 Quid, it serves me well i will jog your memory chicken farm at about 70 yards on its toes and away thats 1 field next to rugby club w
  16. You will find that with the recent mild wet weather we have had of late is keeping Foxes well fed for now, plenty of worms beatles etc: and plenty of small mamals going about, Foxes will go for the easy meal all the time every time, try a few bait stations around your ground, they will appear like clockwork, why waste energy when there is plenty food at hand. Bet when you are out calling you will see them but they just wont come close, wait until we have a right cold snap you will see a difference
  17. Have been with dave1372 on a few occations with his Gen.2 nightvision scope, but on Tuesday night we got 2, 1 for him and 1 for me, was a great night seen a few and dave missed a couple (say no more)while the NV is a good tool for fox control, its not much fun unless you are doing the shooting, if there are 2 of you the person not shooting sees nowt, and if you do shoot one you better hope its not in grass higher than 6 inches or your chances of finding it are very slim, not like with the roof mounted lamp you see everything and by not moving the lamp after shooting fox its easy to find. So i
  18. LOOK HERE MATE !!! true http://www.thecourier.co.uk/output/2009/11/30/newsstory14185375t0.asp
  19. On a serious note regarding your question... you can do this at home encourage your dog to bark on the command SPEAK... once he has mastered this, give him a treat every time he barks on your command to speak, he will soon learn that if you tell him to speak he is rewarded with a treat, (got the picture) Take the dog with you when stalking and once you have shot the deer (you know where it is)let the dog find it,praise him and command him to speak and give him a treat, after a few times doing this he will learn that when he finds the deer if he barks you will give him a treat once you

  21. HERES A QUESTION.... If its okay to use Lurchers for rabbits as they are classed as vermin, but not to use Lurchers for Hares as they are classed as game.... (correct me if i am wrong, i dont own running dogs) THEN WHY IS IT ILLEGAL TO USE LURCHERS FOR FOXES are they not classed as vermin. not having a jibe at you dog guys and girls, i am all for getting rid of FOXES whatever it takes, dogs guns snares etc: I just think the Running Dogs seem to be getting the worst of all the country sports, IN MY EYES IF YOU CAN TAKE A RABBIT WITH A LURCHER , THEN WHY THE FECK NOT A FOX THEY ARE
  22. YOU ARE if its for conservation purposes how do you think they insall transmiiter chips for keeping an eye on them !!! But i think they should be controled just like Foxes, folk think they are endangered as they never see them, thats how there is HUNDREDS of the feckers going about, they are all tucked up in bed when they are about, ask the townies how they feel about foxes running amock, badgers are the same its only that they are not as common in built up areas like the fox but the buggers are there just that they are more shy of humans. Let me loose with tem i would have a field day
  23. Best offer over 1p so has now been sold if you had contacted me 1st you could have had it for 2pence.
