  1. I use a Nikon Monarch 6x42 fixed power and it's all you will ever need, i'm looking for another for my .22mag. I find that money for money fixed power scopes tend to be clearer and less parts is allways better. DD
  2. Hi. I use a Nikon Monarch on my CZ .22lr Varmint and a Simmons WTC 3.5-10x40 on my CZ Delux .22 magnum but when I can find another fixed power scope I will be fitting that to the magnum. The Simmons is a cravking scope but I prefer fixed power. DD
  3. Hi. I would have a cabinet fitted ready especially if you think there is no problem being granted a sgc and it will show the feo you are responsible enough to lock your airguns up. DD
  4. Hi. I have a Nikon Monarch 6x42 on a CZ 452 Varmint .22lr and a Simmons WTC 3.5-10x40 on a CZ 452 Delux .22mag. Although the WTC is a cracking scope for the money I will be swapping it for a fixed power scope when I can find one at the right money. DD
  5. Hi. I have used variable power scopes for 40 years but last year I bought a Nikon Monarch 6 x 42 and it's all I need, the optics are great and no twiddly bits. I use it on rabbits out to 70 yards day or night and only take head shots. I paid about £150 new but used ones are well within your price range (if you can find one), there are a few other good makes about and they are all decent scopes but stay away from the really cheap ones. DD
  6. Hi. I had a Benneli M2 that went back to the importer twice because of jamming, then when the barrel started rusting I got shut(a pal of mine has one which also suffers from rust). I bought a Fabarm(left hand) and it has worked perfect with any cartridge, you can also use full choke with steel shot. DD
  7. Just how do you get this yearly limit thing, If your certificate allows you to buy 1000 rounds and hold 1500 rounds that is as many times as you like as long as you don't exceed the amount in your possesion. I can buy 200 wmr rounds and hold 300, which I might do 2 or 3 times during my current certificate but if I don't buy any I will still be able to renew. I can buy 1000 .22lr and hold 1500, which I ha only done 3 times in the last 20 years. DD
  8. Hi. I have had a .22lr for 35 years but I have just got a wmr added to my ticket, not got a rifle yet but looking for another CZ. What range do you take rabbits at and what do you zero at, I'm thinking of using 30 Grain Hornady V max. I've never had a problem with the .22lr but range is a problem now that the legs are getting a bit older. DD
  9. Hi. I have done a few stocks with Danish Oil and I allways leave them alone after drying, then when they get a few dings you can knock the finish back(very gently) with fine wire wool and give them another coat of Danish> DD
  10. Hi. I had a Hatsan for a while (left hander ) because the only ones available were Hatsan, Bennelli and Fabarm. I got rid of it for the Fabarm which has been great, it fires any cartridge and can be used with steel shot through full choke. DD
  11. Hi. An old boy I used to shoot with told me "never trust anything with bollocks on". DD
  12. Hi. I've used them for a couple of years now, they didn't seem to work too well at first so we decided to add a bit more white to the tails, this made a hell of a difference and thats all we use now. DD
  13. Hi. I had a M2 that jammed so much I called it Bob Marley, It went back twice for repair but it was never perfect and when the barrel rusted(my mates is the same) I sold it and bought a Fabarm, it jammed with all size cartridges from 32 to 50. My choice was limited to Fabarm, Hatsan or Bennelli because they are the only ones now making left handers. I've had the Fabarm for 2 years and it has been perfect. DD
  14. Jamie. You can get danish oil in a number of flavours, I had a Wichester 243 which was very light coloured. After a few knocks I decided to refinish it, using a darker danish oil(can't remember which one) and that came out great. If you have white spacers it will also darken them so be carefull. DD
  15. Hi. I have a Richards stock on my Varmint although it is walnut, not laminate. I finished mine with Danish oil(about a tenner from B & Q) and after a few coats it came up great and any knocks are easy to refinish. As for laminates not liking oil, that may be true for most plywoods but the stuff they use for stocks is very different, the grain of the laminations going the same way, unlike normal ply where they are alternate. DD
  16. Hi. We both "had" M2's, I now have the Fabarm and my pal has the Winchester, He is right handed and has more choice. DD
  17. I've had most of them but the best and most reliable I've had is the Fabarm XLR. I'm Left handed and the only ones made now are Hatsan, Benelli and Fabarm. The worst one I've had was the Benelli, back to the importer twice for jamming(never cured) and rusting of the barrell. I also have a pal with a M2 and he has rusting problems, both of us are fastidius in the cleaning department. I called mine Bob Marley becaus it was allways "jammin" DD
  18. Benelli M2 12g owners..... Whats the smallest load yours will cycle and how many cartridges has yours had through it ? Hi. Mine has been back to Bennelli twice with recycling problems, using a variety of cartridges. It has now been recycled for a Fabarm XLR compsite(left hand) which has had no problems so far and will fire anything, including steel shot through full choke, I use it mostly for wildfowling. I called my M2 Bob Marley because it was allways "jamming" DD
  19. the Benelli i had was forever jamming but only with the heavy shells Mine too, thats why I bought the Fabarm. DD
  20. i shoot a right hand semi auto browning gold fusion, i just converted the safety to laft hand use which was fairly straight forward.. you don't even the the cartridge cross over... And i'm a leftie, It's not just the spent cartridges which are an issue, in windy conditions there is a risk of powder residue being blown back in your face. I shoot geese in the orkneys and it is allways windy up there. I know a lot of lefties shoot right handers but there are l/h autos out there so I choose to have one, just my personal preferance. I shoot a right handed b/a rimfire but everything is con
  21. Where did you buy the Fabarm? Thanks Mark Hi. I got mine from T. Mcavoy in Standish. Wigan, they were the best price and best trade in. DD
  22. Thanks, Swillington's have a Benelli Montefeltro for £1050, so will have a look at this on thursday. There are a few used ones about but if you want a new one the only manufacturers that do left hand are Hatsan, Benelli and Fabarm. I have just got the Fabarm XLR Composite(part exed a Benelli M2 for it) for about a grand, it's the only one that will fire steel shot through full choke. DD
  23. I'm left handed when shooting, and am looking at a Beratta A300 or a Winchester SX3. Thing is they don't do them in a left handed cast. Are there any shooters of semi autos out there that are left handed but shoot right handed guns?. If so, do you have any problems shooting that might not be obvious?. Personaly i can't seee it would make that much difference. Hi. There is no problem with the spent cartridges but in some conditions you can get the powder residue blowing back in your face(very strong wind blowing towards you). The choice of left handers is very limited now, it used to be
