cheers mate! im just doing alot of reading and going looking and pricing at the moment! i have seen alot of second hand rifles, but i'm not to sure to buy new or secondhand!

that s&b scope is sold i thought it was a good deal! well i'll just keep my eyes pealed for something else that might pop up!

Hi Colin, in that case I would probably favour the 308. Lots of Red deer in Donegale around Letterkenny. 308 will be just the job on the larger deer. As for the 300 win mag it is a great round, but it is just a rebadged 762 sniping round. it's looking that i will go with the .308! was reading up on them last night so i'm going out over the weekend to look at loads of different makes and modles! just another question? i know where there is a s&b scope for sale! its 6x42, 30mmtube,a7 retile, with mounts, box and paper! its the hungarian model all for e325! would that be a good s

thanks for the reply sorel-2007! i have alot of reading and looking up to do know,before i make my mind up! i hope to move up north shortly so i'll have the added bounus of been able to reload! i'm leaning towards the .308 now! but i do want to find a rifle that is light and has a short action! my mate has shot a blazer 300 win mag, shooting a 5lyr bottle 650 yards. said it is an amazing rifle! i'll let you's all know what i choose! lads thanks for all your help and advice! between 8 and 10 quid per peice bud.its very easy to make your own though.use an old salmon sain net. as j darcy said dont use deben who's fox nets do you use then mate??

thanks lads for all the replys! i sent off for the book to study for going for my deer licence today! so im reading up on a few cals and i'll take my time picking one! the .308 seems to be the popular of them all! the rife i want has to be light enough, short action!synticic stock! i'm not worried to about black or stainless barrell!

is the .308 better, as in for reloading, flatter shooting or just an all rounder! the deer that i want to shoot, i want to keep for the table! so will the .308 do much meat damage? one of the dealers told me that the .308 does alot of damage to meat!

hi lads, i'm just woundering if you's could help me out? i live in ireland and want to get into deer stalking! i've been out looking at at lots of deer rifles and cals from .243 right up to 30.06! everytime i looked at a different rifle in a different shop i was told that one was crap, this is what you want, there to powerfull,to dear, bullets are to expensive! my head is wrecked!! :realmad: so can anyone here go through the cal and give me the pro's and con's of each! i like the 25.06 .270 and the.308! and what cal do you's wreckonmend? PLEASE HELP before i lose my mind! :wacko:
