There are a load of Ukrainians here, came over when the war started…..now I don’t know what sort of war it is or what the situation on the ground is, but they have driven over in brand new motors and still have Ukrainian plates…..which I take to mean they still have Ukrainian insurance…..not that I give a shit but just saying The situation was obviously so bad, they were able to take 30,40,50 grands worth of motor, pack for an extended holiday and simply motor off across the border ? Top man, however, I suspect the real story here isn’t the deed…..it’s how he accomplishes the deed….as in, it should be a wake up call that every single day a million quids worth of debt is sold for 10% of its value. I always liked that phrase related to Mod culture: Clean living under difficult circumstances I think, certainly amongst me and my pals from very early teens onwards, that resonated……we identified with that because we all came from various weird home situations and didn’t have a pot to piss in…..but we didn’t want to be utter states. Hard to explain really, but it’s strange that it really never left us…..something uniquely British about that I always felt.
