I can’t speak for other lads but for me it’s a case of “my enemy’s enemy is my friend” ! Whoever that may be……let’s be honest, the local plumber ain’t got my best interests at heart never mind Elon Musk, they both put them and theirs first as do we all mostly. There’s a truism, every organisation is a reflection of the man at the top. So, in terms of great football teams it has always boiled down to a blokes singular vision and philosophy executed to precision ! Fighting to win is everything and winning is just a by product of that. Teams are nothing without mentality and that mentality has to pervade through a club from the tea lady to the centre forward. Its “this is who we are” & “this is what we do” & “this is how we do it” and staying true to it. It’s a meaningless scenario in terms of football teams mate.

None of the above, you want to be true to yourself, take all the good bits and build something from that…..if you do that, the rest happens on its own. You’ll win some, you’ll loose some and you will draw some and as time gos on you are solid enough, with a recognised identity that everyone’s knows, that you will have a decent season/cup run now and again and everyone enjoys their football because they feel part of it.

I always think about listening to Mourinho talk about when he came to Porto……it’s the words of a football lad who gets it. He said the team had to reflect the area then the players and the fans become one and the same. In the case of Porto he said it was a solid working class area, not well off, everyone grafted for everything and so he built the team to reflect that, they didn’t have a pot to piss in as a club and he built it all within that context.
