Thanks lads, I just dont get it..............me and 16 of my mates with all their dogs started it at 3 months old and it has been doing well when we all go out up until this point............I have tryed everything!!!

I am at my wits end, after 35 years of perfect behaviour my dog did something odd for half a second the other night...............I now feel my season is completely over!!!! I take it out 2 times a week and mooch about in the day allowing it to do whatever it likes, it has caught masses of game for me in the last 26 years but when it had the off moment the other night I just knew in my heart that this was the end............I just dont know where to turn. I have never bothered to read a training book or ask someone in person that knows about such things, but I just cant understand why

I liked that matey, it gives some interesting theories but they still cant put a definitive reason why can they ............who know, maybe if they cant prove the theory they will have to rely on faith that they are correct

I think you are right with the first bit mate. I think many anthropologists would argue that love is ultimatly a way of ensuring security through a pack /tribal / community structure etc. ..or maybe love is unique to man because we're the only ones capable of the use of language to describe what would otherwise be nothing more than a raw, primal instinct..? Theres no primal instinct to someone pushing someone else out the way of a bus and costing themslves their own life

Church and all that old bollocks is 75% folk who just want to be seen at church, they wouldnt piss on you if you were on fire. But church is not what true religion/faith call it what you will is all about, least not to me.........I know my parish priest well and get on and have a good laugh with him, he knows I only go to church when I can bring myself to do it but he nevers says a word to me about how much I go. Its hard to describe what I believe and to be honest I wont even start, I am fine with it and its more than a badge or a building. My kids are bought up with in the church/pr

Todd, fair play to you......you have an extra thing in your life that makes you feel human in a way that you cant explain to someone who dont have it..........good for you. Would you vary your methods for different breeds? A terrier type always benefits from a firm hand and clear boundries, its what they understand best in their small thuggish little brain (imho) where as, as we all know, taking a tough line with a saluki type is mostly a waste of time and counter productive (same for almost any dog with saluki in the mix) Manwork dogs (again jmho) require mostly trained with your mind with the VERY rare instance of firm hand thrown in now and again. So are your saying that reward type training is a one size fits all, works for everything method? Just i

Indeed they are and no one is coming to give anyone a medal for soldiering on ............imho this dog, if it is a headcase, should not still be around. It would be a disaster if it got lined. Its easy to form an opinion about the owner from a few posts, and I am as guilty as the next bloke of doing it, but without more info you would never know. What I do know is, this sounds like a total f*****g nut of a dog and it should be...........gone.

Why dont you want to say where you got the dog?............bought from known stuff or from an advert?, what age did you start the dog?, do you take the dog out regular on your own or are you always in company? Did you know the parents? You have give us all chapter and verse on everything else, why not the dogs history?

Just my opinion, but none of this sounds purely down to just the owners............this sounds like unsound stock, did you know the blood behind your dogs before you got them lads?
