  1. I don't run flushing dogs but a good spaniel will get you just as many birds out here as a good Pointer will. I actually prefer shooting over Spaniels and Labs when it comes to hunting pheasant in the high cattails.
  2. I'll keep a wet rag with a small ice pack in my game vest during summer training and pat the dog down every so often on its head, chest armpit and belly
  3. Young English Pointer her training coming along great should be ready for Fall
  4. Some good looking flushing dogs here. My Wirehaired.
  5. Temperaments are generally different but that can depend a lot on who you get the dog from. Wirehaired is a more laidback dog indoors. GWP seems to have a stronger natural desire for the water.
  6. The strength of these dogs is the range of game they work. These are US dogs so I can't comment on what kind of work they get in the UK.
  7. We can dog year around on game outside of foxes and for sport not just game bird protection. The trade off being the lack of a culture/tradition
  8. Thats a good looking bitch, nice to see she's taking to her work so well. That last picture is a great one. My wirehaired jumped and ran down a coyote last day of December out on a pheasant hunt.
  9. nose, durability, improved averages of throwing dogs that stay till dug. breeding won't improve a dog thats already working, improve the ability and percentages of the ones to come. In a nut shell mate, your full of shit . lol okay then

  11. Don't think I've seen a line of dog in any breed without some kind of hole in it.
  12. Jagds are just a different tool for the tool box. Not a replacement for anything really.
  13. I prefer to breed half brother x half sister when line breeding doubling up on either the sire or dam depending on which blood I wanted to enhance. Never had high percentages breeding full brother x sister pairs.
  14. Digging terriers isn't nearly as popular as running hounds on game or birddogs. But there are a good number of men and women over here are working terriers. Mostly JRTs and Patterdales. The Jagds are more used above ground than below and people are using them on anything with fur and even for retrieving feather. The people hunting with their terriers don't have websites or kennels they just breed and hunt dogs. I've had my dogs on possum, groundhog, coon, fox and nutria. The foxes usually bolt from my experience. Possums are about as deadly as rats. Groundhogs can be pretty nasty but once
