As above, does anyone use NV to see what bugs is doing before during or after setting their net ? Many thanks, Cliff

people probably start off with too much net and really dont give it enough of a chance always practice before you decide to use it in the field Yes, thats the advice Mole catcher has given me, practice with a few yds then a few more until you can handle the full net, i am starting with a 25yd one, walking before i run and all that Atb Cliff

As i said, its new to me too but having a long net either side of a hedge you are ferreting sounds like fun Atb Cliff

They are purse nets mate, Atb Cliff I know what purse nets are i have them, I just thought a long net was a net that was put up around the whole of the warren to stop the rabbit escaping from that little area. Put a search into youtube, it has a few long netting videos to give you some idea Atb Cliff

As i said, peg to peg, brilliant book on long netting, still feel free to ask questions though, most people on here are very helpful with constructive advice Atb Cliff

Long netting is a rabbit control method usually done at night, you go in quietly between the feeding rabbits and their burrows and erect a long net, you then walk the long way round to get behind the feeding rabbits and walk towards them making them head for their burrows, they then get trapped in the net, thats a basic explanation but its new to me and would highly recommend Long netting - peg to Peg by Molecatcher on here Best wishes Cliff

good good Try ringing Solware.co.uk and speak to karl, tell him I sent you, he is usually cheaper if he has any in, me, my son and my shooting buddy all have the 10x44 viper, we do a lot of targets though, for hunting you may be better with variable although i hunt with my 10x44 too, Atb Cliff

be very carefull when buying poles unseen. they can sound like a good deal but turn out useless for your needs and in some cases dangerous as they can be brittle and splinter or shatter on use such as cane or bamboo. heres a pic of some finished hazle this is what their leaves look like and at this time of the year the bark has a dry leafy type over bark flaking away that rubs off with the hand. the stems are what we want for pole and normally grow in clusters growing upright and straight. Thanks again Martin, the ones i have seen are hazel 'pea sticks' i will hav

Hi I am a total Newbie with regards to ferrets and ferreting, i am used to shooting rabbits but am thinking i can have as much sport and even better results ferreting them.Am i correct ? What i know so far is limited, Jills are smaller, smaller can be better sometimes,Jills need mating in season, a ferret finder is essential and if you put ferrets down now you will spend more time digging them out. This leads me to some questions ,when is ferreting season ? Is there anyone near Tamworth that can show me the ropes and any more info is gladly welcomed, we have young children, would ferrets be o
