I also use a PES moderator on my .22/250 Blaser. It has never given any trouble. I just make sure i take it off after using it to let it dry internally and give the threads a light coat of oil & only ever tighten it on gently by hand.

Soaked ferret food for the kits, the jill gets rabbit and pigeon
-
Hi, Just thought I would upload a few pics of my polecat jill and her litter of 7 kits. They seem to be doing fine and have just started to eat solids. The jill has been getting a steady supply of rabbit & pigeon along with the odd egg and a bit of goats milk. The kits will be re-homed in about 4 weeks although I will keep a small type jill to ket the mother jill company. Cheers Nessie

Hi, My Jill has a litter of 7 kits that are 3 weeks old, they are all doing well. I will be keeping a wee Jill kit to keep the mother ferret company as I dont have any other ferrets. My question is can I leave the kit & mother together after 8 weeks when the others have all been re-homed or would the kit torture the mother? I only have one hutch for keeping them in. Cheers

Hi, Can anyone answer me a few questions that I have about kits. 1) What age do their eyes open? 2) At what age can you tell the colour they will be? 3) When will they start to leave the nestbox? Cheers Nessie

Hi, My Jill had 8 kits 10 days ago, they all seemed healthy and were growing well. This morning there is only 7 kits and no sign of the other. The Jill must have eaten the kit as there was no sign of it about the nest or the hutch. Is this normal, all the kits were about the same size and looked healthy. Cheers Nessie

Hi, My polecat Jill is due to give birth next week. I used to always use Barley straw for bedding, this seemed to go down quite well until a few months ago when she started to pull it all out of the nest. I then put in an old bed sheet, she seemed to like this, I was worried that this wouldnt be ideal for her when giving birth so I got wood shavings and put them into the nest, however she has pulled most of them out. The question I need answered is how safe is a bed sheet for use as bedding for a jill that is about to give birth?

Its really up to yourself. I would recommend giving the barrel a good clean out every 50 shots or so. I own a Sako Finnfire .22lr, its a lovely wee gun that cud knock a 10 pence piece over at 75yards all day long. However when practising on paper targets I noticed the groups sizes getting bigger when the barrel got a bit dirty (usually 50+ shots). Never listen to anyone telling you to buy a boresnake, they are quite literally useless for cleaning a rifle bore. Tetra Gun make good quality cleaning gear. Cheers Nessie

Two (or more) kills with one shot?
nessie122 replied to subwoofer's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Hi, I have twice killed 2 rabbits with one shot from my .22 lr. Didnt think I would ever do it again after the first time, but about two months ago I shot two 3/4 grown rabbits with one bullet at about 60 yards. Both times I've done this I have had witnesses, otherwise I dont think anyone would have believed me. :-) Cheers Nessie -

Hi, I have a Blaser .22/250 Professional that I use for the foxes. I had been using 39.9 grains of Hodgdon H380 Powder, Remington Brass, CCI Primers & Hornady V-Max 55grain heads, last year when I was checking this load I was getting around 1/2'' groupings at 100 yards. But when I have had it out lately I am back up near 1'' groups. Can anyone explain this? the rifle hasnt been shot much since last year (maybe 10-15 shots). Also if anyone can advise me on a new recipe to try out I would be grateful. The rifle has a full length barrel. Cheers Nessie

Hi Mate, I've just bought an MTC Taipan 4-16*50mm. Using it with my AirArms SL Xtra FAC. Well pleased with it so far, came with mounts, flip up covers and a sunshade, all in it cost £250. Would recommend. Cheers Nessie

Hi, I have an FAC Air Arm S410 Xtra, I was out shooting a few paper targets earlier, I must have accidentally loaded two pellets into it because when I fired at the paper target two pellets struck it at the same time a few inches below zero. Does double loading a rifle in this way cause any damage, the accuracy didnt seem to be affected. Regards Nessie

Hi, I've just bought an AirArms S410 SL Xtra FAC in .22 calibre. Im am just about to set it up with my MTC Taipan 4-16*50 scope and want to obtain some advise as to what would be the best distance to zero it in at, it will be mainly used for rabbits, squirrels & crows. I intend running it at full power of approximately 25-30 ft/lb. Cheers Nessie

Hi Mate, I've a Blaser R93 Professional in .22/250 calibre. It a great tool for fox control, I've a Zeiss Victory Diavari 2.5-10*50 illuminated reticule scope on it that I got as an ex demo, this is mounted using Blasers own excellent quick release mounts. I have a PES sound moderator on it. I bought all the reloading equipment & a good manual, with a little advise I have been able to get it to shoot 1/2" groups at 100yds, my best recipe is; Remington Brass CCI Primers Hornady V-Max 55 grain bullets 39.9 grains Hodgdon H380 Powder I get a lot of enjoyment from loading my own

Hi Folks, I have purchased an AirArms S400 Xtra FAC, I want to spend around £300-£400 on a scope for it & would appreciate any help on what to purchase & where I should go to get it. It will be used for general hunting & some target shooting, would like an illuminated reticle & maybe 3-12 or 4-16 power zoom (or similar)...Also need mounts & a charging kit, probably 300bar as its an FAC model. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Nessie
