  1. Quicker than most working Beddies ....... more whippet like................ Keep em coming Rich, priceless.
  2. I'm not putting them down, It's good to see a few Beddies on the rabbits , rats etc. But all dogs chase rabbits and rats. This breed needs only the gamest dogs to proginate the future TRUE Bedlingtons.
  3. My Bedlington and other Bedlingtons I know, "proved themselves" last year on a number of occasions. I didn't break the law once. When you know what you are talking about, by all means come back and tell us what you know.
  4. Trust me Shepp, it's not macho snobbery at all. The Bedlington as a sporting breed has been on the decline for years now, obviously mainly down to the idiot show brigade. However, in recent years far too many poor grade so called working Bedlingtons have been bred for "bushing" etc. This in my opinion is a slow death for the working Bedlington. Bushing, mooching, call it what you will, is fine - I do it all the time. But I wouldn't breed from a Bedlington dog or bitch who couldn't prove it has what it takes against more testing quarry. So have your bushing Beddies by all means, enjoy them
  5. If, as you say, that you have other dogs doing Charlie, why doesn't this handy looking little fella do them?

    University you say?.........
  7. Next doors mongrel is a good bushing dog, and and catches rats and rabbits. No one wants to breed from him! He hasn't got any rosettes and trophies like your your dog though.
  8. I wouldn't get too hung up on any strains or well known names. Look for people who keep dogs that are doing a regular job. Have a look here http://www.workingbedlington.co.uk/index.php
  9. There is a fair amount of Gutchcommon in one of my dogs, much better proposition for a woking dog than your show type, but there are much better strains to choose from.
  10. My Bedlington won the Bedlington champion at Broughton game fair - he had a few holes in his face, nothing major. This seemed to upset a few people who reckoned the judge picked him because of the scars.
  11. No damage , ever. Coats pick up a lot of crap though - burrs etc.
  12. only one kc called lakeland terrier, but many variaties of fell terriers, all different in looks but all the same in attitude, there are many different lines,n beck, buck breay, parks, middleton and ward to name a few, they now call the black smooth bullish types patterdales but it is not a term used much up here in the north as its a village called patterdale and the smooths are known as slape coated fell terriers, and many years ago a lot were just called border lakelands but tyey werent a cross between the two just another fell strain alot also had bedlington in there blood aswell, but that was befo
  13. There is a lad on the working Beddy forum from the Midlands who breeds and works Bedlingtons. ...... and I mean REALLY works them. Not bushing.
  14. I have the litter sister of your pup here Oyama, she has that slape coat like a Patt, seems to keep her dry, and much easier to keep clean than my Beddies coat. She too is showing a lot of early promise - fingers crossed.
  15. I'm sure plenty of Beddy owners would sacrifice a bit of coat for dogs with the right minerals. Good to see the young dogs coming on.
  16. I know you said Midlands or North Wales, but I think these are some solid dogs from what I've read on an article he sent me.(link below) uru http://www.nornik.sk/ To Funny.
