  1. Just got back from 2 local butchers. On said they don't bone on the premises & only had marrow bones The other just tipped a box of stuff, seemed to be mainly ribs, into a bin bag for nothing. Must be a good few kilos there - will feed my dog for a while, going to have a sort through it - not a problem when you get it for "f**k all" as he put it . Bought a couple of hearts for 70p also. Going to try some other Butchers before next week; this seems too easy
  2. Cheers Rainmaker - should have realised after reading all the info - got a bit carried away!!
  3. Thanks Rainmaker Should the transition to raw from dry be graduated to avoid problems such as diaorrhea (sp?) (have read that constipation can also be a problem at first) as you would if changing between "regular" foods? The way he has gone at it I think he'll ignore the dry anyway Have tried him with some beef last night & turkey leg this morning, at the moment I have to hold it for him to tear it otherwise he just sniffs & licks at it on the floor It'll all fall into place I expect
  4. No worries mate; agree about the hygiene routine anyway - just had the odd doubt about "moving" possible contamination out of the feeding area. Will never leave dog alone with the baby. Oh, baby in Dec & new pup i Jan brave man - talk about having your hands full
  5. That was what I thought, thanks for confirming it though mate Cheers
  6. How old are you????? stop talking utter bollocks! I take it there's no risk then mate? Or are you referring to the dogs not needing the bones?
  7. Half my dogs live out, half in. Just feed your dog in one room and make sure you wash the floor and surfises (SP), as you would do with your own food. When the weathers nice out him out. Shouldn't be a prob with the babe if you stick with good hygiene. Yeah, that's what I was thinking; just wondered about if any contamination could be spread by paws as the dog moves around the house. Probably a minimal risk anyway. Cheers
  8. C/G, do you feed your dogs outside? I wondered as my dog lives indoors, so is there an issue of contamination as the dog will use his paws to gain purchase when ripping at the food & possibly contaminate floor surfaces. We have a baby due soon so could this be an issue?
  9. Like Collie/Grey I am going to take the plunge. I have a terrier which is currently fed Autarky, a dry complete food which he can take or leave. Going from Rainmakers (excellent) guidelines of 2-3% bodyweight I am looking to feed only 200 - 300g a day for a 10kg dog. I have just experimented with a 100g pice of braising steak - looked too big so I cut it up; he swallowed the first piece whole :11: I have therefore been sat having a tug of war over the other piece to ensure he chewed & tore at it He couldn't get enough & is trying to get onto the garden table where I was sat.
  10. Hi all I have a 3 year old terrier I think is a patt or a patt cross - rescued him as a young pup so no background info. I am just getting started, so will probably be looking through the forum for advice as much as anything, please bare with me if I ask any stupid questions
