i'm with everyone else 18 months no earlier own his own......i was lucky i let mine have foxes on his own that i'd shot but still fighting and he got bitten took a while to get his conidence up for the coup de grace.............big dogs are slower to mature than smaller dogs and i just read a very good article in edrd about a guy who ran his deerhound cross at 9 months(similar to yours) it turned to tight twisted its hip and would never run again, he had to have it put to sleep. It really isn't worth running it to gain a couple of extra months work at the beginning, the dog wouldn't be goo

there is someone on here that has some philwright or something.....search in the lurcher forum for posts about it i have a gsp x but hes not got the tackle for breeding.....lol good luck, what are you using them for?? -
As above really!! I have a dog who i take out lamping with me....i only really shoot foxes so i have a dog that will tackle, kill or at least hold any wounded foxes and trail any that hit cover, so that i can kill humanely! I hear alot about people having deer dogs for same reasons but not many with dogs that walk with them or sit in vehicle! so just wondering how many people have dogs for this purpose? So who does??

Take a rifle out and shoot a fox but don't let her rag it keep her on a lead walk her up to about 5 yards away and make her sit while you look at it, get rid of it without her moving then slowly build it up, if she's quiet when you shoot let her out(but not every time) when you wound one let her go! but keep her guessing and if she makes a noise or so much as moves then don't let her have any fun to practice this tie her up and fire a shot, then fire a couple on the lamp, she should be quiet, have a squeak and shot nothing. if shes quiet make loads of fuss of her i do all my foxing

don't know about the breeding but i had my dog off marco and i can say he was in great health when i got him......so i reckon these pups will have wanted for nothing.......marco def looks after his dogs!! And for Marco Buzz is doing really well shaping up and retreiving all foxes i shoot well, his turnings not great but he never was gonna be a rabbiter and any that are wounded he deals with and is really maturing, my early worries about him jacking are passed, he would never have made a fox dog(maybe if i hadn't entered him early) but he has dealt with some very lively foxes. His pa

I'm not a father but i said "NO" i had this debate with a friend weeks ago, i said the parents should be punished by law but as he pointed out that would wreck the lives of the 2 younger children having no parents but with recent developments things don't look as clear cut as just abduction i had thought something was strange about just how quickly and well she dissappeared along with how organised the mccanns were plus there being NO leads for the police like they were chasing a dead end trail!! Something very strange But no they should not of left children at all the world is a

i don't really know but he was off some very good dogmen travellers this way but they often go to wales for some dogs wheatens etc he may have come from there or they may have bred him in surrey, but either way they know their dogs and have GOOD dogs and work them, so from what i've seen and heard and worked out from being with the dog that he really should make the grade!!

i had to have a supervisor to take me out with a .222 so after 2 months i told them i'd been out doing this that and the other and they took it off, still the restriction on taking out a 243!!!

Shall we say £150....this dog NEEDS a good home, he isn't perfect YET but really deserves a good home........ready to start work As said before come and see him, you don't have to buy him if you don't get along, i won't call you a timewaster etc or take offence but i 'm pretty sure anyone who sees him will love him Oh and if theres any confusion, have been on here as dickyboy for a couple of years but my accounts gone so am on my friends account, the one who owns the dog, i know and have met a couple of people off here marco, paid, lurcher lad etc so they know i

i think the comments are foolish....but none of my friends had heard of pest control or gamekeeping etc..........they all thaught it was cruel...........many a debate later and they actively participate, question me in a good way and promote the sport positively to others as well as backing me up when i get involved in an argument in the pub again for the 2nd time that week............there should be more accesible but well written literiture on the web and in media to promote the fieldsports to the people before they have made their mind up

Still for sale! Good Home needed having spent the weekend with him and a few minutes a day training hes coming on leaps and bounds.....had a good kill last night, He is very quick of the mark, and got quite a nice strike at a tennis ball, lol, he out paces my dog over the first part and my dog catches most stuff(never tried hare as there aren't any here but everything else!!) if i didn't think he'd make the grade i'd sell him as a pet as i don't want him to get moved around but this dog needs work and a good dog person as he is a powerful dog and he isn't at all fit yet....... .

I have a gsp x grey and he's fast enough for the things with antlers(before ban) but lacks agility and acceleration on bunnies and fox..........he's coming on well though Are all pointer x's ridiculously slow to mature? And i'm with phil on the emotional rollercoaster, one minute not a foot wrong, instinctively does what you want, blind trust in mine and his abilities to catch, endless stamina then other nights i may as well not be there hunting with him, i could do better running backwards, he looks as if every rabbit is his first he's ever seen and will pull up 10 yards(rare) from cover
