  2. couldnt sleepp this mornin so went up for some corvid action.found a nice hidey hole.will move to other location so as not to spook birds and let them learn my habits. Got 2 magpie by using my cod liver oil capsules in their tub and giving them a shake, coupled with 2 crow deeks and 1 maggie deek. Then big bad ass crow landed to see what all the fuss was about. It was the last landing it will ever do. Learning bout these intelligent birds every time I;m out,but i like to think I;m smarter Psssst ,dont tell the wife but the magpies are in the freezer to be used for decoys with a couple of Keb

  4. Awright everyone. Was wondering when crows go to bed or roost how long before sunset. does it change with season etc.I went up to see if I could shoot a couple the night about an hour before sunset but didn't see any, heard some but I think that was maybe insomniacs crows. Noticed that they start flying about in the morning soon after sunrise.

  8. Awright wurz cheer Cheers guys,I'm still learning but trying ma best. Getting used to new gun, enjoying the confidence it gives me to be more accurate compared to the father in laws Webley Vulcan I was using for the last year. on and off. Even the pigeon I shot in the left of chest was dead before it hit the ground, think thats the power and pellets though.I tried aiming just under its head as it was a long way away up a tree and I was looking up some info adn asking on here what i should do differentl when aiming shots up into trees. But pellet went straight to where I aimed, the an
  9. Nice pics + report bud,it relaxes you getting out for a wee hour. venomviper, how do you find a laser range finder, would you recommend one to a relative newbie to hunting with .22 air rifle? what are the advantages .do you then need to find out what your gun does at all different distances before you are getting any benefit from them> ATB KOT
  10. Dirty pigeon in that vid, just as well Si shot it or it would have woke up in the morning thinking "oh no what did I try and ride last night "
  11. Awright bud,it's went to a good home with a sensible (ish) owner.what did you swap it for ,the hw100s? How far could you accuratley shoot with the s16 . I was down the other day to get a maggie deek and he had another one in the window and there was a guy in the shop with a mark 1 with a problem/ Now I'm used to gun ,I'm really likin it,its not that heavy when you are using it to hunt and only raising it to shoulder when there is something to shoot at.When I use it at the gun club it feels like my arms are falling off! I got some Logun sg3 grease the other day to use on mag o rings and the
  12. crow, clean kill. At least thats one I outsmarted.
  13. Went to shoot for a couple o hours this morning, done better than yesterday 2 rats clean headshots from 1o yds. 1 crow/rook.1 wood pigeon +1 squirrel.wood pigeon was a crackin shot. Roughly 30 yds away up a tree, aimed lower than birds head, bang woody was dead before he hit the ground.couldnt see where i'd hit him till i took the breast off.ended up shooting it exacly where i'd aimed, pellet went into left hand side of chest.meant to be head shot but clean kill all the same.
  14. Which factory, Ideal Standard (Bogs & Bathrooms) or Carradon Ideal (boilers)? Both are on the same street (National Avenue) next door to each other! Sounds like Duncans unfortunately being at the end of the Motorway we pay a premium for everything round here Every thing is more expensive than other cities. There is a real dump of a gun shop about 200 yards away from the one on Paragon Square. If you ever go in, you'll know what I mean, but they are a tiny touch cheaper. the people who run it must be at least 200 years old now Called Hutchinsons on Anlaby Road. Phantom
  15. too right phantom, every day is a school day .Ill let you know how i get on tomorrow,I'll try putting camera on fewer megapixels to see if that helps me get pics on here. I've been down your way a few times, looked in a wee gun shop at paragon st thought he was quite expensive,i'm always down at the Ideal factory with ma work

  17. Well ,the day i@ve been waiting for for a long time finally came today. My first shoot on permission.I was camo'd from head to toe,Gun greased up and ready to go,maggie deek sorted crow caller check ,fresh rabbitt slit up belly for bait for crows. Only thing missing was some dead crows. Drew a blank but loved it + learned a bit too. Found some good places to hide out where i cant be seen. Zero'd my rifle to about 30 yds,(gun club range is only 20 yds).also learned how to do a crackin crow call on my acme caller,by blowing into it although I was clearing my throat and bringing guitar up. the cal
  18. I hope its true what you all say about once you get one permission ,more come along. But the now I will concentrate on getting rid of some crows and maggies from farmers barns.,I've been looking up a bit bout shooting crows and it seems they are smart litlle buckers. Just got a fresh rabbit to keep for saturday as I'm going to try slitting that up the belly and putting it out for the hungry crows as I've read that might help,I also saw it in one of Zini's videos.Lol healso used a bike wheel spoke to stick in a dead crow to use as a decoy, need to get me some o them. Has anyone got any other
  19. YA wee dancer, got my 1st permission today. Its only a small part of farmers land that he wants crows, magpies +rats controlled but its a start and its mine It Came about by me going down a country lane a few weeks ago and seeing that a cow had escaped and was heading for a busier road ,so I went to find the farmer and let him know. Thats how I introduced myself + he remembered .So he said I'd be doing him a favour if I got rid of some corvids for him,he has done me a favour for giving me my first shooting permission.Heading up there early on the weekend to let the S16 see its 1st bit of acti
  20. Happy days ,I sorted gun now shooting my best ever groupings. Can now strip down the s16 in my sleep(which I think I did for a few nights, strange logun dreams) Not blocked again and I'm getting quite used to action of the gun now.
