  1. Just how they should be, brilliant to see Steve.
  2. Very best of luck with her matey,if she works half as good as she looks then your gonna have a real un on your hands..she's an absolute stunner.
  3. Beautiful looking running dog, built for speed he is..hope he does everything & more you expect of him. He's looking great too so fair play to you in regards to that too.
  4. That's a smashing looking dog that is,an absolute belter!
  5. Yeah she was a Pom matey sadly she passed away back in 2021 at the age of 15,she was like my shadow, best dog I've ever owned in my life, she had the most wonderful character. I miss her every single day that I wake up to. Brilliant dog was my little Ruby
  6. Few pics from out & about these past couple of weeks, these pic's are all took on Canon dslrs, either a Canon 1D X or a Canon 7D
  7. Thanks Phil, yeah was a shame regarding Don & Dusty but like you say thing's worked out ok in the end. Old Don was a fantastic servant, ugly as sin but he gave us many year's of wonderful memories,a dog that would die trying, bottomless stamina, the cleverest dog I've ever owned in my life. Nighttime & daytime came alike to him Phil, great working with the ferrets, fantastic at hunting up be that out on the hill,in forestry or dense cover, perfect around an earth with the terrier's,controlling vermin & covids with a gun he was great,he just put himself in the right place everytime to mak
  8. Just wanted to say thanks to all & everyone who has commented or liked a post/image on this topic,it's very much appreciated..thankyou,hope you all have a great day ...apart from this fecking thing Rose who will be getting a size 10 up her rear end if she continues with this crap just now when I take them out..
  9. Best of luck with the young recruit, fingers crossed it makes a topper for you. Good luck
  10. Just had my Mrs pup out for a couple of hour's,she's coming along nicely.. really starting to switch on now, super keen..very fast & beautifully balanced when galloping,I think this bitch will be exciting to watch behind gear if early indications are anything to go by? 9 1/2 month's old or thereabouts now, anyways here she is this evening..
  11. Phil,I don't think there's a man alive with the longevity in this game like yourself, people come & go but you've never took your foot off the pedal so to speak, not for a minute, you've been there got the t-shirt more times than you could shake a stick. I was just a young lad & was envious of your achievements then,I'm 58 in a few weeks time so that in itself speaks of the longevity you've had with working lurchers. Decades before this internet malarkey came along your name was right up there on a pedestal because of what you were doing with the cur dog's. If ever a man has earned the r
  12. My Mrs think's WAY more about Boots than she does me,which is no surprise really ..she has just had a pic of Boots I took only the other day put onto a small slab of slate for me..I now have both of my A-Team in Ruby & Boots on slate. You can never take enough pictures of your canine friend's because in the blink of an eye they could be gone & you may be left with nothing but faded memories..I will remember the day I took this pic forever thanks to this piece of slate..May 10th 2024 etched on the rear of the slate, with that I know Boots was 11 year's,7 month's & 10 day's old..he
  13. He's a cracker matey! I hear you loud & clear about him 'gliding' over the rock piles & also deep heather, not all can,I've owned dog's myself that can't,they may catch stuff but nowhere near as prolific as those that 'know' how to & have the technique that enables them to do so,just because it has Saluki in it doesn't mean a thing,I've seen litter mate's where one is exceptional at running on the mountains yet another is like a ballet dancer trying to tiptoe across the granite, some do but the majority don't, won't or can't,that doesn't make them a bad dog it just means you may have
  14. I'm still living in a council house on a rundown council estate Phil, that tells you how much use my mongrels have been & continue to be .. likewise regarding the cur dog's,they & I just seem to be on the same wavelength,I don't ever need to tell them to do anything, they instinctively know what to do & where to go & what I expect of them. I love them, good ones aren't so easy to find but get the right types & they will work all day & everyday for you. I also agree with you in regards to the type of Saluki, the powerful, fast,do or die type runners are the ones that excite
  15. Just to add regarding my trip to the vet's to see about Boots eye,he's totally 100% blind in it & the eyeball itself is swollen. The vet's believe he's suffered a 'slipped lens' due to a trauma, again for what he's been used for in latter year's I can well believe it,being dragged & kicked for long distances & often long periods of time it's more than possible he's took one or more 'taps' to his face & eye in particular. Because of his age although in great health they weren't too keen to put him under anesthetic to have it removed although they said that maybe what it comes to.
  16. The one's I seen in my younger day's were far from 'hardy types' in fact quite the opposite mC..I hated them or the ones I seen working anyway. In the past 20 year's or so I've seen some very good one's,the spread of the internet allowed me to meet up with people with Saluki types through forums such as this & fortunately I had my mind changed about them, especially for daytime work. There's good dog's of all types, hardy dogs amongst them. I had decades of great hunting with heavily saturated collie types, they were the types that etched my path in regards to hunting & I will always lov
  17. I had Boots at the vets in the past fortnight regarding his eye & for an overall health check, two different vets looked him over & said his heart etc was in exceptional order for his age but both agreed saying they had never witnessed a dog of any breed or age with such severe joint issues, that didn't surprise me in the least as I know he broke a bone in his wrist many year's ago now & has suffered extremely badly with back issues for several year's now too. I've ran him pretty much everywhere & anywhere regardless of terrain & with much of his career hunting on the mountai
  18. Fife the brother to Boots at 9 month's old & my Mrs pup also at 9 month's old, almost 11 year's apart I took these two pics.
  19. Few pics of the dog's this past week out & about.
  20. Bear this afternoon out on our wanders, not sure why the black & white pic looks like his back leg is moulting/mangy?.. as you can see in the colour one he isn't. He's came a long way since he broke his neck, unable to stand up let alone walk for over a month,to see him now is quite remarkable really, admittedly he's disabled but he doesn't let that affect him,a lovely dog that truly enjoys everyday that comes his way. I like him,I always have done.
  21. There goes my buddy walking out in an attempt to walk 'around' & behind some critters on the off chance of getting the dog some exercise.. sometimes you wonder if all the effort is worth it.
  22. Hey up buddy, yeah I wear a Garmin Fenix watch so get a fairly accurate description of a days trekking up on the hills, distance, calories burnt, ascent etc & obviously the dog's wear tracking collars so I get info on their shenanigans too. A very 'easy' day will see me doing about 8 miles,an average day between 13-15 miles & an extremely tough day in excess of 20 miles, those latter day's are beyond me these days unless at a snails pace haha..what I have found is that regardless of how far you walk & how successful or unsuccessful a day out is there is no easy day or at least not for a
