Thanks Phil..no doubt whichever it is that remains here will outlive me but I'm sure my lads will carry the blood of these dog's forward for many year's to come..Rose looks like she's found the one she likes the best already, she will pick it up gently & lay it by her face & or neck as soon as it's been fed, favouritism at it's best Phil

Sadly on going into see Rose & the puppies this morning one of the two bitches had died at some point through the night. Since I started out with dog's I've only bred a few litters of pups & in those litters I'd never lost a single puppy but I've unfortunately lost two within hour's in this litter. It's quite gut wrenching to be honest, poor thing's could of had a great life in front of them, alas not & I guess it is what it is. The remaining pups all seem to be looking great & feeding fantastically well as they approach their first 24 hours of life, hopefully we have no more set

Rose had her pups yesterday,we have 8 of the little blighters,6 dog's & 2 bitches..was a stressful day for both Rose & I that's for sure haha. She was so stressed & unrestful it wasn't a pleasant watch & or experience for her,she removed all her bedding & decided to have her pups on the bare wood of her kennel bottom, not exactly what one would ideally want but that was her choice. I had to switch off the heating & heat lamp as she was so warm,at one point she even went to have her pups on the concrete floor where it was cooler..anyways after having them I got her bed cl

The dam was just 22tts mate, just a small framed thing but she could run a bit. Her name was Polly,my brother in-law owned her,she was out of a bitch called Blaze that he also owned that was out of my old dog Bulpa (also Don's grandsire) & a racing greyhound out of English/Irish Derby winner Whisper Wishes..this red dog in the pic had some good working & racing blood running through it for sure. I have some pics of Polly I'll add one or two to this when I seek em out

This was a serious dog out of Don that was owned by a lad in South Scotland..guy always stated it was the best dog he'd ever owned & I know for sure he'd previously owned some fair animals so that say's a lot to me bud.
-
Yeah he's got a few litters on the ground matey,he's bred some good, durable lamping big bags fillers along with numerous good ferreting dog's..I wish he'd had a few more pups on the ground to be honest,he was a very good dog & deserved more than he has in my opinion.

Old Roxy the dam to Rose & Bear out with me the other day & my pal Don just yesterday on the beach here at home, over 25 year's of experience between these two, there's not much they haven't encountered in their year's at graft

Yeah indeed he was Ross,i can remember the day I collected him & Fife from big Stevie's like it was yesterday to be fair I've totally retired Boots now,at least as far as going on the mountains goes. I'm not sure if it's an age thing or since he went blind in one eye but I took him out a couple of weeks ago now & he just didn't want to be there for whatever reason? Obviously it's still dark when we head on up the mountains & whereas he was once eager & up front keen to get through the forestry & out on the tops he was trailing behind looking on edge & quite frightened

I don't think there's any one particular type that is guaranteed to be successful working the high ground. Every dog is different. Were the laws reverted back to before 2004 & hunting deer with dog's legal one cross that I would personally be intrigued to try would be a Saluki/Grey x Deerhound/Grey or at least with a mixture of that blood. I'm not sure how one would do but it's a type I'd of loved to have worked on the mountains. It's not just running style that's needed as you also need a dog with plenty of fire in its belly for what resides up there inevitably isn't chicken fodder. I've

I must admit since I was first introduced to lamping back in 1977 & from therefore on done lot's of hunting with dog's,lurchers & terrier's alike. Lamping being my longest involvement with running dog's & having also had a number of year's coursing I have to admit even regarding the hard work very often involved in getting to many of the place those critter's call home during the winter,on the highest of mountains,in remote glens etc where & when the weather can be borderline life threatening at the best of times,no mobile phone coverage should something untoward happen to you,

Turmeric tablets are cheap enough on Amazon & instead of the cod liver oil I'd probably go for the Red Krill Oil matey..another very effective tablet to chuck in the dog's dinner daily is one Glucosamine tablet, Turmeric & Red Krill Oil have many proven health benefits including helping with stiff joints/arthritis & Glucosamine is also excellent in regards to helping relieve stiffness/soreness in joint's..

Very best of luck with the pup matey
