Ireland Collectio Greyhound With No Ears
AlbertJ replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Two of the three people who it is alleged were collecting have come forward and while one had no further role after collecting and handing over the money, the other has claimed it was properly donated for the dog's welfare. I have no reason to doubt that it was AND obviously these people's recollection and that of the several people who came forward to state who the collectors were ( which coincided with my own recollections) HAVE cleared my name and those of my team from the ludicrous charges of impropriety and benefitting from the collection. As far as I am concerned the matter will e -

Ireland Collectio Greyhound With No Ears

The 'trolls' who made the spurious and defamatory claims and insinuations that we were the recipients of this money and/or benefitted from the money and/or it was used improperly with our knowledge and/or consent have now taken down/changed the claims after being informed of the identity of the main collectors and the people who allegedly took responsibility for the money. -

Thank you to everyone who has come forward with information on this topic and I now have full details of the collection. It was made at the ringside of the terrier, lurcher and whippet rings in June 2013. I now know who collected the first day and who collected the second day. I also have firm details of who allegedly ultimately took responsibility for the money. Very interestingly some of the collectors /people who ultimately took the responsibility for the money appear to be good friends of the people who have questioned our involvement in this and claimed either that we were the recipie -

Thank you to several people who came back to advise me when this collection was made and who did this collection Quite bizarrely it appears it was people who appear to be close friends with the people making the accusation that the money was not used properly. Perhaps the people who made the collection will now speak out as to what was done with the money and make it clear that apart from me making a personal donation neither I or any of our team had anything to do with it. Unfortunately possibly because of the success of our events a number of internet trolls are posting similarly spurio -
THE COLLECTION FOR THE GREYHOUND WITH NO EARS Some years ago a collection to help rehome a greyhound that was found with its ears cut off was carried out at one of our events. I contributed to it myself. However a couple of internet 'trolls' have now claimed that we were the recipients of this money and/or benefitted from the money and/or it was used improperly. Over the years of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland as most of you will know we have supported more charitable and sporting causes than probably any other group in Ireland. Few if any sporting groups approaching us for assist

Ireland No Selling Pups At The Irish Fairs
AlbertJ posted a topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
In spite of the GREAT GAME FAIRS of Ireland having a policy that no pups can be sold at their fairs last year at Birr there were a number of people selling pups. At that stage all we could do was to make sure the pups on the field had water and food and were well looked after as we felt there was possibly more danger to the pups from them being locked in a car. The Gardaí did seize some pups last year and following a meeting with them this week they have made it clear there will be 'zero' tolerance with people selling pups at the fair at Birr on the 27th & 28th August. They have asked t -

Ireland Which Game Fair To Go Too?
AlbertJ replied to spiderfly's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Blackbuck, At least your post doesn't contain any or much abuse this time - could your propensity to insult anyone who disagrees with you stop people commenting? We don't look for plaudits or statements of support - the huge numbers of people who attend our events and read our magazine are testament to the fact that we have THEIR support. And of course if you want to see messages of support for what we do visit our Facebook page and group. You claim to have given an 'honest' opinion that stated Shanes was expensive to get into - simply NOT true! And as for content you admitted that you -

BB, What a nice turn of phrase you have! of course our team have been committed to the promotion and defence of country sports in Ireland for over 36 years - the main sporting organisations are fully in support of what we do and value our work and we prefer to think they and the tens of thousands who enjoy our events every year are more representative of Irish, Hunting, Shooting and Fishing enthusiasts than a person with a huge chip on their shoulder who thinks it smart to criticise the commitment and work of others. Perhaps you could share with everyone on the forum what you have done to pos -

BB, The CLA closing should have made people like you realise that game fairs are not a licence to print money. With estimated crowds of up to 100,000 , admission prices of £32 and high stand prices they couldn't make it work. The reason why our fairs have lasted for 36 years and are now at fair no 59 is because our team are committed country sports people who think it important that Ireland has its own fairs with first class competitions with unrivalled prize money ( except from the Midland) ; a good range of stands and displays and a good day out for people who want to meet up with their fel -

AlbertJ replied to spiderfly's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
The Scudd, I suppose it depends what you want. I take in the Midland fairly regularly as it has a good range of competitions ( best in the UK); and a good range of stands. It used to be brilliant for bargains and my wife and I used to carry huge amounts of them back to the car although it was a long way back to walk! The bargains usually justified the high admission price and the cost of travel and accommodation. However over the last few years real bargains have been thin on the ground and our purchases have been usually one or two items which meant that the trip had to justify itself on -

Dates of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland www.greatgamefairsofireland.com As Blackbuck indicates it is some time since he was at Shanes and he erroneously claims it 'was expensive to get into and had nothing there'. It is NOT expensive to get into at £10 with free programme and parking - less than half the price of the UK fairs- and better competitions and prize funds than most of them and with nearly 200 stands something for everyone - video on www.irishgamefair.com. Obviously we cannot compete with the major fairs such as the CLA ( now defunct with three or four vying to replace it) or the M -
As StopEnd said - it is a Terrier & Lurcher Show and lots of people keep terrier and lurchers for different purposes - it is not and cannot be a test of working ability. The Five Nations Championships bring together finalists who can qualify at a number of different shows throughout Ireland and the UK. As I say these dogs qualify at different types of shows under different types of judges but all have won a best terrier or lurcher award somewhere and have earned their place in the final. There are three judges for the Five Nations Championships - the IWTF nominates one, the organising cl

Unfortunately due to some very silly people making spurious allegations of judging being 'fixed' and to to save our judges getting unnecessary hassle on social media we decided not to publish the judges names in advance. On behalf of the Game Fair team I can categorically assure people entering our events that NO EVENT IS FIXED or PREJUDGED and we have absolutely no vested interest in having anything other than fair and impartial judging. I judge at KC shows myself and I can assure you I judge the dogs and not the other end the lead. I expect any judges at our events to do the same. Th

The coming together of the terrier, lurcher and whippet community to support this show and cause has been truly awesome. So many people and companies have come forward to donate prizes, items for the raffle and items to be auctioned. Well done Maurice for suggesting such a worthy cause and the show organisers for taking up the challenge. A great cause, and great prize structure - if you're not going to the Kilkenny Show the CCO! show is the place to be to show that terrier, lurcher and whippet owners are amongst the most generous of the country sports community when it comes to supporting cha
