We have had several complaints about Pups being sold in the terrier & lurcher area at the Birr Game Fair. These have come from members of the public, the Garda and the ISPCA. It has been agreed with Garda and ISPCA ( with both organisations having a presence in the area) that we would make it clear that the GREAT GAME FAIRS of IRELAND will implement a policy of not allowing ANY pups to be sold at Birr this year. We would ask all terrier, whippet, lurcher and gundog owners to respect this as this policy will be strictly enforced. Instead we have decided to facilitate owners and

Another Media story put out by Paul Pringle, PR Director Great Game Fairs of Ireland Craigavon man raises funds for Action Cancer at Terrier & Lurcher Show A terrier, lurcher and whippet show organised by Breandan Coleman from Craigavon and part sponsored by the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle, raised £300 for Action Cancer. And throwing his support behind the worthy cause, Albert Titterington from the Great Game Fairs of Ireland added another £100 to take the total amount raised to £400 for the charity. The donation was made to Arlene Creighton from Action Cancer at the Game

Paul Pringle wrote this little PR piece which I thought readers might find interesting. McGraths are the ‘Masters’ at Lurcher Racing’s Blue Ribband Event To win the blue ribband event of the lurcher world once is a stunning achievement, but to win it three times is the stuff of dreams. But Carlow’s McGrath family showed that dreams really do come true, when they pulled off this top racing coup at the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle on 25th June 2016. And just for good measure Nicky Smith from Carlow took a surging second to make it a clean sweep for the county. The McGrath f

Ireland Constructive Discussion On Game Fairs
AlbertJ replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Wedgey, I am so touched by your concern for my well being that I was almost going to send you a ticket for Birr but of course I don't have your name & address. However I am sure you can remedy that and also come up with at least one positive and constructive suggestion other than I take a 'chill pill'. Seriously - I'm not taking anything bad because I know that most of the adverse allegations are not factual and of course our focus now is making sure that the Birr fair is the best ever. -
Ireland Constructive Discussion On Game Fairs

WE organise the GAME FAIRS at SHANES CASTLE and BIRR CASTLE and we are always willing to listen to CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM of the events including ideas for improvement. This is NOT a thread for rumours, inaccurate and malicious allegations or innuendo but for positive ways/ideas to take the promotion of countrysports in Ireland forward. -
As you say it is on to Birr on for our show on the 27th & 28th August. And in fact Paul, Steven and I started working on putting many of the final touches to Birr and Montalto on Monday morning while the real heroes of this year's fair, the guys on the ground continued with their strip down of the fair started on Sunday night and completed yesterday pm. This team too are all country sports people and are led by Edwin and Peter who go on site on the Saturday before the fair and literally work 24/7 over the time of the fair. When the weather is fine it is a pleasure to build and organ

For the GREAT GAME FAIRS of IRELAND FIVE NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIPS for Whippets, Terriers & Lurchers we have tried to develop a fair judging system by three judges. Some has asked to see how it works so see below : The three judges mark each dog out of 10 for 4 criteria . The three sheets to two adjudicators who tot up the scores. In the event of a tied score the adjudicators use a countback' to see which dog has the most scores of 10.

Ireland A Chance To Vote For Country Sports
AlbertJ replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Thanks to all our hunting, shooting and fishing friends for your messages of support on Facebook and elsewhere. A vote for Ireland's largest showcase for country sports demonstrates the support that hunting, shooting and fishing has within Ireland's rural community. -
A REAL chance to demonstrate your support for IRISH COUNTRY SPORTS and their SHOWCASE EVENT – The IRISH GAME FAIR & FINE FOOD FESTIVAL at Shanes Castle Antrim. The Game Fair at Shanes has won many tourism and other awards but it has now been SHORT LISTED for a major award - TourismNI’s EVENT or VISITOR EXPERIENCE of 2015. The fair faces stiff competition from other events such as ‘Van Morrison Live on Cyprus Avenue - Eastside Arts’ and the Circuit of Ireland Rally. BUT as the winner will be determined by public vote from 28th April to Thursday 12th May, YOU can pu

QUALIFIERS FOR THE GREAT GAME FAIRS of IRELAND There has been some confusion as to who awards Great Game Fairs of Ireland qualifiers and we wanted to make it clear that the decision on awarding qualifiers is made by the Game Fair team of Directors including Tom Barry our Director of working Dog events. Applications for qualifiers opened in January 2016 and a final call has now gone out for clubs wishing to have qualifiers for 2016. Late applications for qualifiers may be considered on a case by case basis. We are pleased that it is recognised that the award of our qualifiers gives add

After we had established that neither I or any game fair staff had benefitted from, or been involved in, the collection at our event in 2013 for a greyhound found in poor condition with its ears cut off in June 2013. I got to wondering what happened to the greyhound and to my surprise 'right on cue' in tonight's Belfast Telegraph there was Norman - now the happy and well looked after pet of the manager of the Mid Antrim Animal Centre. So whoever donated money , collected the money and handed it over there must be a certain satisfaction in seeing an ill used animal back in full health.

Cci Race Day At Annaghmore Race Track
AlbertJ replied to tartar's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Good charity and very worthwhile cause which deserves the fullest support. We went to an election debate around health this week organised by the group who are lobbying to retain and bring back full services to the Downe Hospital. Some truly heart rending accounts given from families who had lost young people. Unfortunately the charity sector has to take up a lot of the slack caused by under resourcing in the NHS in this important area. Well done to this club and its members who ran at least two very successful charity shows last year with great sums raised for good causes. Unfort
