Five Nations Terrier Championships
AlbertJ replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
any fool can see its a sham albert j, catch ur self on You possibly think this because we didn't let you have a qualifier at your show this year. If you cannot see that events like this Championship do a great deal for the Terrier & Lurcher fraternity throughout these islands then it is unlikely that anything we say or do will change your opinion that you think your show is the only " REAL DEAL" in town. I suggest you will see that your opinion is not shared by others. -
Five Nations Terrier Championships

Tom, Duly changed - the material from the Yorkshire Show that was sent to me stated that they would send their Champion forward to Birr. I now understand they meant the top working dog over the two days of showing. As you say we in Ireland are putting forward our overall Champion from Shanes and our overall Champion from Birr and also as you say, all six finalists will have been through a rigorous selection and qualifying process open to all who work their terriers before they get to BIrr. It will be interesting to see the various types of terrier put through and give fanciers some -
National Countrysports Fair - Moira 29/30 May

Tango, Take your point. It does grate a little on my nerves to see the organisers of the 'competing' shows come on under an alias. I cannot understand that if they wish to promote their shows they cannot do it under their own name. In fact in spite of differences we did 'rub along' together without much angst until they started to use our brand name 'irishgamefair' on twitter to attack BASC ( and the BASC Fair) and to attack the RSPB ( who in turn thought it was me) and accused me of encouraging illegal activity. This has provoked the recent'hostilities'. I have made it clear that I wi -

National Countrysports Fair - Moira 29/30 May
AlbertJ replied to true countryman's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Probably only those who haven't been to Shanes or Birr! Seriously its not a bad show but not the 'world class' one claimed by its organisers nor does it live up to some of the other claims made. When it was OBJECTIVELY compared with Shanes - there was of course only one result: http://irishgamefair.com/award.asp -
Pity Moira changed the date of their show to compete with the long established Florencecourt Fair date. But Florenceourt always draws a good crowd.

Interesting to read your Quotes TC - it would appear you must be very close to the organisers because you really only appear on here to plug their show. However fair play to the organisers for playing'catch up' with us at last with decent prizes for the terrier & lurchers. However at the Midland they represent the qualifying shopw not the country as our qualifiers for this competition represent the Fair not the country. Where one can represent one's country and win a prestigious International title is by qualifying at Shanes Castle or Birr Castle Fairs for the final of the Five Nations Cha -

Our own photos will be published in the Summer edition of Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine out last week May and on the www.ballywaltergamefair.com web site but the www.downnews.co.uk web magazine covered the event and their INDEPENDENT report and photos are available on their site. A big thank you from our team must go to all who turned out and to the good turnout of Terrier & Lurcher enthusiasts who appreciated the new facilities I had put in place for them. Personal thanks from me must go to the guys from Monkstown for the good natured response they gave to me.

Calli, As a veteran organiser of 42 Fairs over 32 years this Fair that we rescued this year in only 4 months work was one of my best achievements. With over 120 genuine stands, great competition prizes including improved terrier & lurcher show & racing facilities and a crowd of just shy of 11,000 it was a great success. Plus as each of these people got a FREE ticket to Shanes Castle it was our objective not only to give country sports fans a bit of a bonus in these difficult times but also to build on our record attendance for any Irish Game Fair ever at Shanes Castle in 2009. Many a true word spoken in jest! I had to smile when this arrived in my mail box this morning. Yes of course we are striving to not only maintain the 'Numero Uno' position of our Fairs at Shanes Castle in Northern Ireland and Birr Castle in the ROI but also to develop them into Fairs that are recognised as well worth visiting from the UK and further afield. And with Ballywalter looking good who knows my correspondent might have to add Uno, Due, Tre! But do I really look like this? AlbertJ

Fionn, Thanks for your response. I thank you for the interest you show in both my activities and those of the Mid Antrim Club. Although as I have made it clear apart from the Mid Antrim Club organising our shows I have no control over what the club does. I note you haven't answered my question as to whether you were at the Killarney rally or indeed at the various rallies/meetings/protests in NI to support hunting and to object to the Irish Hare being put on the protected list. However as I am sure you and anyone else is aware the attendance at a particular rally doesn't obviously s
