5 Nations Terrier Show (Ireiand)
AlbertJ replied to Ditch Walker's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
I can only repeat that in my opinion the judging will be fair. I don't know where you get your information from but it is totally incorrect and as Fionn has said he had an input into selecting the judge from Ireland. I have never met Fionn ( or indeed the judge he suggested) but he too voiced criticism of the judging at prevous events at Birr - when the event was run by a different person. I had nothing whatsover to do with these events but took the criticism on board and suggested he suggest a judge. He did this and the suggested judge was known to Seamus Erwin, our terrier director, and appr -

This will be my last and only post on this particular matter, until after the final! I object strongly to the accusation that this final is fixed or compromised! its an attack on me personally,on my integrity and honesty as the organiser and senior judge! and for all those who took part in the competition to date! and those who have so far qualified All qualifers went through stringent judging to qualify! and some had to go through more stringent judging than than other's!. All the qualifier judge's were terrier men of some standing and integrity which you insult as well? How can you f -

The web site www.irishgameandcountryfair.com has finally been fully updated. Sorry for the delay but we were finalising some very important attractions in order to deliver the best Game Fair ever in the ROI. As you can see from the competition structure, the action packed main arena programme and the range of attractions there is something to interest the whole family and when one throws in access to the excellent gardens, science museum etc in the estate one can see the fair provides superb family entertainment at a reasonable price. The fair has the support of all the main sportin

the fair in Adare finished several years ago. The Fair at Punchestown moved to Birr then on to Emo before finishing five years ago.

There really is only one Game Fair in Southern Ireland the Irish Game and Country Fair at Birr Castle, Co Offaly on the 28th & 29th August 2010. Full update will be on www.irishgameandcountryfair.com early next week.

Due to concerns expressed about a number of people considering doing the same and the risk of dogs, children & wives being smothered we can advise you that a family ticket for two adults and up to four children is available at the gate for €35 for the day or as a special concession for terrier & lurcher owners - a two day ticket is available from me in advance for the same price. This must be order and paid for before the 17th August.
-
€20 but see offer above. Thanks for that. But ill be only going down on the sunday. Unless their is a special offer for 1 day? Sorry Blue but unfortunately we do not get anything from the show except the gate receipts and the rental of the site plus prizes have to be paid for. The organising club take the ring receipts.

The Richest Prize Fund ever at any Irish Show Following on from the success of the first of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland Shanes and its 22nd All Ireland Terrier & Lurcher Championships what should be the next largest or possibly even the largest terrier & lurcher event will take place at Birr Castle on Saturday and Sunday 29th August - the 24th Annual ROI Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet Championships. Racing will take place on Saturday ( only) with the showing taking place on Sunday. Events start both days at 1.30pm. Once again the show is organised by the Mid Antrim Terrier and Lurch

Albert is there any chance you could send a copy to both Foxgun Tom & myself please? Cheers Joe!!!! Email me address Joe to irishgamefair@btinternet.com and I'll give you a complimentary subscription for a year to Ireland's top country sports magazine. Seamus has asked me to suggest another free subscription to anyone who can tell me the tartans that Joe and Tom were wearing at Shanes!

Link is www.irishgameandcountryfair.com the site will be updated later this week but our policy has always been NOT to advertise anything until it is actually confirmed and we are just finalising the largest prize funds ever for any terrier & lurcher event in Ireland. Racing will be on Saturday 28th August and Show on Sunday 29th August both starting at 1.30 pm.

Our editor Paul Pringle is interested in terriers & lurchers so we hope to publish a roundup of results from over the Summer and then lay aside in each of the four seasonal editions news and views on terriers & lurchers and show dates etc. Up to you guys to supply the information.
-
We are currently producing the Autumn edition of Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine. Obviously we will be reporting on the Terriers, Lurchers and Whippets at Shanes Castle but we would be delighted to have results from other Irish Shows - especially the ones to which we gave some sponsorship! Deadline for results is 12th of August - so please send photos and results to me at irishgamefair@btinternet.com. We have budgeted to give further sponsorship for next year so if you want to get in the queue please get in touch. Alberj

Shanes Castle Game Fair 26 & 27 June 2010...
AlbertJ replied to bluebell's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Iceman, Thanks for your response and admitting its a good day out at the fair. As someone who has working goldens I do show occcasionally at the club shows and treat it as a day out with anything I do win as a bonus. At the end of the day shows can only be 'beauty ' contests and not tests of working ability although we do have working classes for both terriers and lurchers. If you are at Birr on the 29th August for what is shaping up to be one of the largest terrier shows of the year and the most prestigious ever staged in Ireland you will see plenty of working dogs including a huge c -
Shanes Castle Game Fair 26 & 27 June 2010...
AlbertJ replied to bluebell's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Iceman, I have to ask were you at Shanes this year - because if you were you had a very different perspective to virtually everyone else I spoke with! 1. As far as I am aware the winners at Shanes Castle have not won there before but even if they had, does it not say something if the same people win under several DIFFERENT judges - perhaps they simply have the best dogs! 2. We have a show that working dogs can enter but also dogs bred from working stock and of a working type. Working (or entered) dogs CAN win if their conformation is good enough. BUT as I have said before these sho -
Great photos - can you email me some of them including the one above to irishgamefair@btinternet.com Albert

A great result for working dogs at the 22nd All Ireland Terrier & Lurcher Championships at the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle when Judge John Humphreys made the winner of the Racing the day before not only Champion Lurcher in the showring but in consultation with terrier Judge Joe Kyrollos made the Lurcher Supreme Champion. Definitely a dog 'fit for purpose'. The double for real working dogs was completed when Joe put up the winner of the entered class as Champion Terrier. Another first was when www.fieldsportschannel.tv covered part of the terrier & lurcher judging for their
