  3. Always delighted to see fellow sportsmen 'from across the pond'. Pop into the Irish Countrysports and Country Life stand to speak to our editor Paul Pringle for a welcome pack. Albert Thanks, a few boys from Scotland meeting us as well. On our way Thursday night Glad the ladies could get you sorted out with accommodation - quite a few travelling from the UK and of course from all over Ireland. Don't be put off by the few disgruntled people on this forum. Most Irish terrier, lurcher and whippet owners are most sporting. Meanwhile you can download a free programme to read on the ferry,

  8. How many people does it take to run a GAME FAIR? Some people appear to think the GREAT GAME FAIRS of IRELAND is a 'one man band'. I am flattered that they think this but I thought this photograph of the press launch AND JUST some of the representatives of terriers & lurchers, angling, living history and gundog competition organisers pictured would give an idea - multiply this by five or six, add in the clay shooting guys, the people who do demos, stewards, workers on the ground, security, safety staff etc and you get an idea. And if you want to see just how much we do for the various
  9. Well WB you appear to be someone who 'keeps himself to himself' but is not slow to criticise others doing something positive. Rather pathetic too with the little jag ' over priced magazine'. As usual as INACCURATE as the rest of your rhetoric. What other magazine is as good value in Ireland as the IRISH COUNTRYSPORTS & COUNTRY LIFE magazine in its hard copy edition? And of course the magazine is available FREE TO READ online for those people who choose to read it in this format www.countrysportsandcountrylife.com The magazine, again an effective vehicle for promoting and
  10. The fame pales a bit after 39 years! I am not defensive - if someone asks a question I think it courteous to give them an answer. I also will make it clear our team all work hard to promote countrysports as well as working to earn their livelihoods in other jobs as I also do. You asked a question you have had your answer. Let me know when you do something positive to promote countrysports and I'll report on it in our magazine!
  11. You have a very poor opinion of human nature - perhaps you judge others by your own standards. Personally I do it because a lot of people and organisations depend on me to do it - the rest of the team probably do it for similar reasons. When all the bills are paid , even in a good year, and the working capital taken out for the following year there is not a lot to split and in fact I would suspect you get more on the dole than any one of the team gets from the Game Fair- that's why we have always had other jobs! And you haven't given me any examples of what positive PR that you
  12. I do not and never have made my livelihood from organising fairs. For many years I personally subsidised the fairs and like the rest of the team I don't run the fairs for a wage. Although it is hard work and high risk all of our team only draw modest expenses for a huge commitment. All do it because they are countrysports enthusiasts and if effort versus return was calculated all do it for very much less than the minimum wage rate per hour! What we have done over 39 years is put more money back into countrysports than any other organisation and/or individual in IRELAND. Virtually n
  13. Whitebuck, Look at the series of posts from Skipping - he has been trolling us for several months. I was not referring to his questions about the breeding of the dogs but his general trolling. We have been advised not to answer Skipping or engage with him in any way. We will not be answering ANY QUESTIONS from SKIPPING. However since YOU have asked. The dogs in the B/W photographs are Master McGrath and Mick The Miller from original photographs and their breeding is a matter of record The dogs in the publicity photographs, like the guy acting Lord Lurgan, were selected as being
  14. ONCE AGAIN SKIPPING WHO WASN'T THERE LAST YEAR ATTEMPTS TO FOMENT DISCORD. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO COME AND COMPETE AT OUR EVENTS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO DEMONSTRATE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP and ACCEPT THE JUDGES' DECISIONS GRACEFULLY. DOG & PUPPY SELLING IS NOT WELCOME. AS WITH ANY PUBLIC EVENT STAGED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY OUR COMPANY AS THE LESSOR HAS THE LEGAL RIGHT TO EITHER REFUSE ENTRY OR REQUEST THAT SOMEONE LEAVE THE GROUND. THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS DID ARISE LAST YEAR BUT THERE WAS NOTHING 'DISGRACEFUL' INVOLVED AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. AND I WAS THERE! IN FACT THE MATTER END
  15. WE HAVE GENERATED POSITIVE PUBLICITY FOR COUNTRYSPORTS, WORKING DOGS and TWO GREAT IRISH SPORTING ICONS. IT REALLY IS A PITY THAT SKIPPING, A SAD TROLL, HAS ATTEMPTED TO DEMEAN WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO DO. HE SHOULD BE TREATED WITH THE CONTEMPT HE DESERVES. IT IS EVEN SADDER THAT THIS SITE HAS CONTINUED TO ALLOW HIS DEFAMATORY RUBBISH TO BE PUBLISHED.
  16. Why on earth does the appalling SKIPPING keep trolling? Our qualifiers have absolutely NOTHING to do with him as the club which with he apparently has a close association was offered qualifiers. SKIPPING's trolling is being monitored - more details after Shanes.
  17. IN DECEMBER 2016 we posted the details of our REVISED CHAMPIONSHIPS HERE and on FACEBOOK. Some people did not pick up on the fact that we were discontinuing providing FREE Tickets for qualifiers. Instead we added to the championships, enhanced the prizes for the runner ups, sponsored prizes for qualifiers at other shows and all qualifiers turning up to run will get a limited edition cap, and a year's subscription to Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine. We Stated: "Following a Review of our Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet Events the Great Game Fairs of Ireland team will be
  18. MORE GREAT PUBLICITY for IRELAND'S TOP LURCHER RACES Two Page feature in COUNTRYMAN'S WEEKLY on the GGFofI's MASTER MC GRATH & MICK THE MILLER Challenges AND a fantastic DOUBLE PAGE article on MICK THE MILLER by Derek Fanning in IRELAND'S OWN magazine. Derek is not only the ROI editor of our IRISH COUNTRYSPORTS & COUNTRY LIFE magazine but also the Deputy Editor of Co Offaly's main newspaper. He has been instrumental in the Great Game Fairs of Ireland developing the GGFofI Mick The Miller Challenge at the Birr Game Fair ( 26th August) as a tribute to a great Co Offaly s
  19. Further great publicity for the GGFI MASTER McGRATH and MICK THE MILLER CHALLENGES with a 2 page spread in this week's COUNTRYMAN'S WEEKLY and a full page in the DUNGARVAN POST. This is not only good PR for the races and the Great Game Fairs of Ireland but great PR for countrysports and working dogs.

  22. May we wish Breandan and the people assisting him our very best wishes for a successful event. As an event organiser for over 40 years including 62 game fairs and literally hundreds of other trade events all over Ireland and the UK ( from Inverness to Manchester) I can appreciate good organisational skills. To make an event successful you have to 'go the extra mile' and take full cognisance of the fine detail and this is something Breandan does. We have been pleased to give him some modest support for the qualifiers for our events BUT only a 'drop in the ocean' to what he, himself, i
