  1. Mohamad, I think you are the chump. To crticise without having seen the dog. In fact most of the criticisms that are put up on this forum are non factual and based on envy. This ill informed criticism that turns people against each other poses the largest threat to countrysports. The painting is an excellent portrait by David L Prescott of a quality dog that won the Five Nations against stiff competition. Personally and the owner can confrm this I thought two of the three judges would prefer racier dogs. But in the end the dog was a worthy winner. I will post a better photo of the
  2. LD, Yes the dog was a dual qualifier under two different judges - at Shanes & Mourne. I actually said to the owner at Birr before the judging that I thought he was up against it because two out of the three judges had racier dogs. BUT his quality, and conditioning literally shone through and when the sun hit him the gleam on his coat meant he couldn't be ignored. PLUS he was the sort of dog who shows himself. A good handler can stack an OK dog or set them up to look good. This dog stands foursquare without much handling - always what I look for when I am judging dogs. He is a stro
  3. No chance of anyone claimng this is a pure bred greyhound.

  5. Albert regarding the incident of bumping you did nt see, ask Martin T how many times a greyhound can turn its head to fight another runner? or what happens to a bumper in the straight?(collisions on bends are different) its called interfering and the greyhounds card is marked and cant run again until its been trialled without turning its head or bumping As for asking Kirsty her dogs breeding I dont recall last years mm winner telling how/who bred that and there was plenty that asked Y.I.S Leeview LV - You are interfering again in something that does not concern you as you were not
  6. i know another one from ruddy to i heard today and she she be ashamed to after the trouble she was in one time Ladies & Gentlemen - very loosely speaking! You do your sport no good whatsover by throwing allegations about and turning people against each other. At a time when I think terrier & lurchers are going to come under even greater scrutiny and threat it is a time for coming together and organising not fighting over the breeding of dogs. Allegations are easy to make but difficult to prove. There will always be suspicions and I regret to say envy about really fast dogs

  8. Possibly the same people who take our posters down every year!
  9. Some 'gentlemen' removed our large yellow advertising banner from the wall at Ballywalter. We have a description of the people involved but not the vehicle number. A joke is a joke BUT I am fairly attached to this banner it having served me well for many years and designed specifically for this wall. I am offering £100 for its return - NO QUESTIONS asked - or for information leading to its return. PM me or email me to irishgamefair@btinternet.com AlbertJ
  10. NOW this REALLY is my final word on this. I believe in answering people's queries but if anyone has a query they will only get an answer if they pm or email me to irishgamefair@btinternet.com The one person who comes out of this particular episode with credit is Jason the runner up in the whippet racing. A true sportsman and gentleman. AlbertJ
  11. Lesley, We will obviously have a dedicated person to do this. To be fair to Matt he had a lot of races & classes to cover in one day. In future, if we have terriers & lurchers, it will be over two days. A pure bred whippet without papers will race in the relevant lurcher races i.e uner 21", under 23" and over 23" depending on its size. The winner of the under 21" DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE MASTER Mc Grath this year. If we are running terrier & lurchers events in 2013 we will look again at this. We will be reviewing the terrier , whippet & lurcher participation at our eve
  12. I asked matt snr on the day about the dog. his reply was I DONT CARE they told me it was a whippet and thats it. Matt asked me to rule on it and I did.
  13. Decision made today after meeting with organising club - ONLY KC REGISTERED WHIPPETS ALLOWED TO RUN AS WHIPPETS. AND OBJECTIONS MUST BE MADE TO ANY DOG AT THE TIME OF THE RACE NOT ON FORUMS AFTER IT. Do KC papers have to be shown at time of entry? YES. Otherwise Dogs run in the relevant lurcher races.
  14. WNM, Firstly Birr is organised by us as one of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland and as with all events I discuss the classes with the organisers. In the final analysis since I am the Director of the fairs who has responsibility for the dog events in any dispute I make the final decision at Birr, Shanes or Ballywalter. I detest deliberate cheating and if PROVEN not simply ALLEGED I will take the firmest action. In our events we try to be as inclusive as possible and that is why when we had complaints over the split at Birr last year i.e KC registered Whippet and unregistered or non ped

  16. I have spoken to the race organisers today and then to the Harpurs. In future our whippet racing will be for KC registered whippets only. All other dogs must race in the appropriate lurcher races i.e. under 21"; under 23" or over 23". The Harpurs on this occasion DID NOT CHEAT as I made the difficult decision to the dog being eligible to race as a 'pure bred' whippet . I did so when I heard that it had been shown with success under specialist whippet judges and accepted as a whippet for showing and racing by the Sporting Whippet Club. As I passed it eligible for the race they cannot a

  18. Janet, I was asked to make the final decision onthe three dogs. I felt that two were obviously whippets and this particular dog questionable. Kirsty was evasive about its breeding and I was about to rule against it when she claimed it had been accepted by the SWC and by you as a whippet. I obviously deferred to your knowledge of whippets. Had this not been mentioned I would have ruled against. I now appreciate that you may have seen it as a PUPPY! Now over to you Kirsty - let's hear who is the breeder AND what is the breeding? Albert
  19. Fiona, I didn't choose the line judges - when I was there there were two. For the Master Mc Grath at Shanes last year we had three line judges including the Chairman of the Hunting Association of NI plus an accurate photo finish. AND at shanes all decisions were agreed except for one where the vote was 2:1. That shows how tight things are approaching the line. The photo you refer to does not appear to be on the line so I am afraid the line judges decision stands. I don't know which judge called it but I have known one of the judges for several years and I personally would not doubt h
  20. OMG..HOW DA HELL DID THE LINE JUDGE COME UP WITH MY DOG BEING OUT OF THE PLACEMENTS KRISTYS BLAZE WAS FIRST ,FAIR AND SQUARE, MAVERICK WAS SECOND!! ALBERT YOU MAY CHANGE UR LINE JUDGE,HIS MATE CALLED THE NUMBER 1 SHEET, HIS WORD WAS TAKEN! NOT MINE THIS PHOTO SAYS A THOUSAND WORDS MAVERICK WAS AHEAD AND SHOULDERS AHEAD OF THE BLUE DOG AND THE BLUE DOG WAS A HEAD AND SHOULDER AHEAD OF THE ONE SHEET! ONE SHEET WAS CALLED TO BE SECOND PLACE BY THE DOG OWNERS MATE!! Fiona, I didn't choose the line judges - when I was there there were two. For the Master Mc Grath at Shanes last year
  21. I thought I had finished on this thread but fair points Pigsy. You and I often disagree but I enjoy our debates! As you will know elsewhere I have asked Kirsty publicly twice to put up the breeder and the breeding of the dog. If I don't get an answer within the next week I will assume that this information will not be made available. To date all we have is a vague assertion that it was bred by someone in Greysteel. I am meeting with the Glenbank club today to discuss these matters. BUT since I made the decision to let it run on Sunday along with two other unegistered dogs I personall
