Sam, Since you have gone to the trouble of costing this. To keep the cost down for those who will make the effort to attend the rally & fair I will give FREE admission to the fair to all of your travellers and make a personal donation to the IWTF for your efforts. If it comes off will make a great photo and interview opportunity to show NI and terrier & lurcher support for RISE! Albert

Ireland RISE to stage RALLY at BIRR GAME FAIR
AlbertJ replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Well that at last is something we can agree on. I don't know what I have done to offend you but as you said I don't know anything about you other than your alias so I don't know if we have ever met and/or whether I may have offended you unintentially somewhere along the line by something I have said or written. You have ascribed motivations of self interest to my desire to facilitate RISE deliver a potentially very important demonstration of strength of numbers and on my support for the IWTF in an important formative period. This is simply not true - I have sought no benefits from -

Yes if one also looks at the ICAB site they too are quite professional. They ran a co-ordinated campaign against our magazine and then followed our example by putting up a FREE to READ online magazine. As you say these groups are now highly professional at PR & marketing and use social media and personalities well but most of all they are well co-ordinated, highly focused and motivated and keep any disagreements private! If they read these forums as they most defintely do they must be delighted to see the spats that emerge. I hope the majority of country sports people will put any pet -

Very well put. The PR battle will be won or lost on who can put forward the largest numbers. In the uk the most the antis ever put on the street was 1000.While the hunters put up 500000 who won that pr We are not quite so ambitious for Birr but let's give it our best shot! -

JH You are a cynical guy but you give me too much credit for my PR expertise and my ruthlessness in acquiring publicity! I was asked could the IWTF have a stand at our shows and I and my fellow directors agreed this WITHOUT any pre conditions. I personally had been impressed with the way in which the IWTF had got itself organised and what they had stated as their objectives, so I was happy to give them some modest support and offered them the facility of putting material into the magazine - AGAIN WITHOUT PRE-CONDITIONS and certainly not out of self interest. I consider myself to -

I don't mind any grief I get on this forum. I came on this forum under my own name to take up the challenge that we were treating terrier, lurchers and whippet owners as 'second class' country sports people at our fairs. I had a few well meaning friends who were defending me but I preferrred to put my own points of view. I have responded to the challenge and although I have had several sometimes heated arguments I don't hold grudges and have met many very good genuine people who I now regard as friends. Our objectives in working with RISE on this are simple : 1. To mount one of the larges -

And now after a long day of putting the final touches to the planning of what I hope witll be another of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland - my 51st I will leave you with the thought 'can we not agree that we are all PRO Countrysports and we have an unrivalled opportunity to demonstrate that to politicians and media at Birr? If that is the case I cannot understand why you could not come to Birr to support THEM once I removed your objection of 'paying to attend a rally' by offering you a free ticket to the fair if you wished to support RISE and not the fair. -

The antis only organised their so called protest after RISE and The Great GameFairs of Ireland got together. Surely a few euro is worthy of supporting your sport and a day out. But that's your own buisness. giving a few euros isnt the issue.i dont like being taken for an oul idiot this being sugested is to boost gate takings these people couldnt care less about lurcher n terrier men ever hear the oul saying.ruling by fooling. I am afraid to say that I consider the mentality of your statement provides its own condemnation! As I said it is not at all about boosting gate receipts - RISE -

Hi Neil I personally think the Terrier man is in a catch22 situation when it comes to supporting RISE,i would support any fieldsport yet they dont support mine. There was a big turnout of Terrier men from around the Country at the RISE rally not so long ago,yet they still dont support us,any one know why?Im sure you have been in contact with RISE,will they be supporting the IWTF in the future. After all Terrier work is a recognised fieldsport? Again I can't speak for RISE but I know from discussions with them they have a commitment to defending the status quo when it comes to pest cont -

Now now Neil thats no way for a chairman of a country wide organisation to be talking to people ,Ferret Features could be a member . The man or woman has a point ,we never had to pay into a RISE rally before Having turned down the offer of a FREE ticket to the fair if you simply wished to come and support RISE - it is not terribly clear where you are coming from - are you against the fair or against RISE or both? -

I think this and other threads demonstrate that some of the biggest threats to country sports come from within rather than without. RISE asked us could they hold a rally at the fair in order to demonstrate without a shadow of a doubt the support they have and can mobilise within the rural and country sports community. My colleagues and I were delighted to oblige as we are fully in support of the RISE campaign and we are all committed to the defence and promotion of all legal country sports and felt this would help unify the country sports community. We also felt that we were doing somethi -

The man or woman has a point ,we never had to pay into a RISE rally before JH, No one is being asked to 'pay into a RISE rally' what they are paying for is admission to Ireland's premier game and country fair AND when they are there to demonstrate their support for RISE. If you wish to demonstrate your support for RISE and NOT YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE FAIR - PM me and I am happy to send you a free ticket!. Ergo, you don't have to pay to go to a RISE -

I can't speak for RISE - but my impression was that they support all legal sports as I understand the IWTF do. The IWTF is still a young organisation but I have been impressed by the enthusiasm of its members and committee and how quickly they have got organised. We in the Great game Fairs of Ireland team have been happy to give them our support. And I hope I and my colleagues can continue to support them. -

Ireland RISE to stage RALLY at BIRR GAME FAIR

It has not put people under an obligation to attend the far - most serious country sports people will be going anyway. PR is difficult to get right and with public rallies especially ones that could be confrontational totally impossible to control. My own steer on this is that I consider that RISE's decision ( not mine) to hold a dignified rally assured of excellent support at Birr is much better for country sports than attempting to confront a march in Dublin. We represent the MAJORITY of people who live, work or play in the Irish countryside and for us to be seen counter demonstrating coul -

Numbers will be important and where will the majority of country sports people be on the 26th august - why at their National Game Fair at Birr Castle. Keith and Harry from www.dogandcountry.tv will be there to film for distribution through a number of channels to a world wide audience and Paul Pringle , the editor of our Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine who has been working with RISE'S media team will be there to ensure that it achieves maximum post event publicity. I can do no better than quote Paul's facebook quote : " I expect huge media coverage. We have publicised the RISE e -
Ireland whats wrong with irish shows?
AlbertJ replied to Wetnoseman's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
As you can see from the thread on prize structure we have a greyhound race so there is no reason for people to run greyhounds in the lurcher races and no reason for people to accuse others of cheating. Objections will ONLY be taken if made with a £25 deposit. No anonymous complaints will be considered at the show or afterwards. Now lets concentrate on what is important - having a couple of good days out, with good judges, good prizes AND a great cause to support on the Sunday. -

Neil, It is good to have the IWTF present at Birr and I hope it helps generate good positive communications within the terrier & lurcher fraternity and them with other countrysports people. As all the main organisations will be exhibiting at Birr we felt it offered a great opportunity for RISE to demonstrate good strength of numbers. The demonstration will take place at 1.30 in the main arena - you will be otherwise engaged at that time !- but it would be good to see the IWTF represented there. Albertj -

Lets divert it back on to a more relevant topic what can we do RIGHT in our shows - apart from the quality of prizes at the Birr Terrier, whippet and lurcher show ; and a system for people who have the balls to object under their own name! we have the IWTF exhibiting and this offers terrier owners the opportunity to meet some of the key figures and them to meet you AND we have a RISE Rally where we want to see f-good numbers of country sports people showing their concern for the future of their sports and the rural way of life. -
