  1. That seems the sort of advice you should take yourself. When did you last form a campaigning organisation, chair a major club or organisation, organise any major event, lobby politicians, lobby sporting organisations, work with major sporting organisations on legislation in lobbying/PR etc, organise demonstrations etc? Let us hear your experience/success in any of these areas? Otherwise I think you should take your own advice! Hi Albert, I do not get in any conflict on any forum, but just to put you in the picture. A few year ago when the RISE campaign started just hunt campaigned

  3. Pat, email me to irishgamefair@btinternet.com. my pm box is too hard to keep clear. I am sorry you were involved in this. But while I felt I needed to deal with this myself I had to get back to the main site urgently so if you think I was brusque I apologise. Albert
  4. Pat, Let me make the following points: When I arrived on site at 6.45 am I was told by my night security supervisor that there had been an incident with bales of straw being burned. I have given them instructions not to interfere with any incident unless there is the potential of injury. He had been given the information that the people involved were in two vehicles and unfortunately yours was one of them that was photographed. He wanted to call the Garda. I said I would speak to the witnesses myself and if possible to the people involved precisely because I DID NOT WANT SOMEONE ACCUSE
  5. BB, Its up to him now - he didn't identify himself to me but I had my suspicions somewhat confirmed. I hope you see a more positive WNM in future. albert
  6. IL , We have a number of eye witnesses and the culprits identified. I understand it was NOT Pat and may i aplogise to him for any hassle he may have had. The good news is the owner of the field is happy to accept it was a 'one off' and so long as it does not happen again has given us the use of the field and will consider allowing campers again. If she does I will make it clear that this will ONLY be granted to people who apply to me for permission! Albert
  7. WNM, Now that's more like it with regards to Margaret but I still might suggest to 'Big John' that he gives you a confidential slap! In spite of being a man of peace and totally non confrontational I have given people a slap or my 'signature' for even the slightest insult to Irene. Albert
  8. I think that it's fairly clear in this thread that he wants the IWTF to go it alone? Having a go at an organization who openly supports the IWTF is hardly a great way of expressing his "frustration at the lack of support" as you put it. Frustration usually happens when there is a lack of communication. If there is more information available regarding 1, Progress of affiliation with these Hunting organizations. 2, Progress of the Animal Health Welfare Bill 2012. 3, Progress and updates of any Committee Meetings. How many? 4, Numbers of Clubs and members signed up. 5, etc...
  9. Hi all, I have had very strong suspicions about who WNM is for some time through his writing style and vocabulary - and these were sort of confirmed at Birr. I try never to accuse anyone of something unless I have fairly definitive proof but I will be speaking face to face to my suspect and putting it to him 'man to man'. I have asked him to 'lay off ' Margaret and if he doesn't I may share my suspicions. As you know he has also attacked me but in some ways if he moderated his abuse I suspect he could be quite witty and in some ways an asset to the forum. I suggest he mends his wa
  10. Pat, As you well know I did not accuse you. I came across to you myself to warn you that you might be interviewed by the Garda because your van had been identified as one of the vehicles that may have been involved in the burning of the straw. Rather than have the garda approach you or even our head of security I did so myself out of courtesy and to hear your own version of events. When you denied it I left it at that with you I did not accuse you but stated the obvious that you might be interviewed by the Garda. It was a matter for them not me to make the accusations. The reasons f
  11. Some of the action from the digging and a new Tv star is born - Tango with Charlie Jacoby of www.fieldsportschannel.tv - move over Paulp Pringle , Philip Lawton and Keith Mathews - there is a new kid on the block!
  12. We not only like to get the big picture right but the detail and we are always happy to put up our hands if we or someone working for or with us gets it wrong. Irene in particular is really annoyed at this and we are delighted to try to make it right.
  13. Due to a mix up the children in the child's handling class at Birr, children did not get a prize for taking part, as is normal at our events. The good news is that I wish to award each child who took part a free family pass to their choice of our 2013 events. To claim your voucher please contact me with name and address ( or email address) at irishgamefair@btinternet.com
  14. WNM, I know that deep down you are not a bad lad but you should remember your manners when dealing with ladies - that is the true definition of a gentleman or a cad! If you don't stop abusing Margaret, who is a real lady and should be treated as such, I may unmask you and let some of the other 'ladies' sort you out! Albertj
  15. Neil, Yes this was the first time the Roscrea Club had organised both show and racing ( last year they just organised the racing) and they rose magnificently to the challenge of working a completely new race track when the sileage contractor decided to take heavy machinery down the lurcher track that they & we had spent time preparing for last year and then swinging into action for a second day to run what I hear was a very big show. Yes my own team and the estate team helped out cutting and rolling race track and rings and posting rings but the club have a great and enthusiastic memb
  16. Neil, Great to see the IWTF at Birr. Sorry I missed you at the stand when I was up helping organise the show and digging - I wanted to make sure the latter was covered by www.fieldsportschannel.tv. I didn't get back up to see the judging as David undertook to look after the Mount Palmer side of the fair while I supervised the main site. As you can appreciate with potentially difficult ground conditions I had to be rather focused. By all accounts you did a good job judging and we all thank you for this. Heard a lot of good comments about the IWTF and I think more established groups wi
  17. JH, Two very important points both the IWTF and RISE ASKED to be at our shows . WE DID NOT INVITE THEM although one of my colleagues is heavily involved in RISE and we were delighted to provide a platform for them. Why did they want to be at our events - simple because they are the two largest countrysports events in Ireland and I presume they thought they would gain from being at them. Why would they not want to gain from our shows at no cost to themselves? Why would any sane country sports person object to them being at the two largest gatherings of country sports people in Irelan
  18. JH, You were not asked to pay €15 to join the IWTF or to support the RISE rally - €15 is the entry fee to the largest and best game or country fair in the ROI. Your choice was whether to go to it or not. If you simply wanted to go and support RISE I offered you a free ticket so what are you whingeing about? And if you want to join IWTF I am sure you can give the chairman a call and send him the money without going to the fair. You seem to have some issue with me - that's your call but why not at least have the balls to come forward and criticise under your own name! Albert
  19. WNM, Margaret is a REAL ray of sunshine in what is increasingly a rather horrible world - peopled by those who cannot see any good in others or wish others well. She and her husband are the sort of people who rather restore my faith in human nature long may they ignore the spite of others. I see you didn't have the courtesy to thank her for congratulating you on your win. Sorry that your 'wife' had to carry a bag of meal - if you were a man at all you would have carried it - if I hadn't been so busy I would have shown you up and done it it for her - tell her I think she deserves
  20. Kieran, Just back from Birr this evening - leaving the site possibly in better condition than we took it over - certainly with some large well turned areas in Mount Palmer! A big thank you to you for organising such an impressive inaugural final. Great to see you step up to work with Charlie Jacoby from www.fieldsportschannel.tv and become not only a very competent organiser but an able commentator! Charlie was impressed to see at least 300 and possibly up to c500 watching it at one time or another - will post my photos tomorrow. Congratulations to all of the diggers - there
  21. Thank you Kevin - I really don't care if people like me or not - my wife says she varies from one day to another! BUT she says my redeeming qualities are that I speak my mind to people's faces and not behind their backs, don't bear grudges and I am extremely loyal to my friends - sometimes even if they are wrong - that is where Neil and I fell out in the past. I have to admit he was more right than me in our arguments but I hope he forgives me because I was defending someone who had been a long standing friend. As I say I don't really know Neil but I hope to get to know him and other mem
  22. Surprised to hear this viewpoint as the only regular angling exhibitors missing were Pat Nolan who was replaced with Morrbrook Lodge - a Hardy Grey Specialist - can you get better quality than that? and the ESB! We had two boat companies, Loop Tackle, White O'Morn, Philip Neeson, a great stand from Ultimate tackle and Celtic Flycraft plus a major pavilion with FISSTA, APGAI and other angling orientated organisations plus tackle on a number of other stands - in short no other fair in Ireland came any where near the range on display. BUT we have additional plans for 2013. Watch this space.
  23. JH, I am disappointed by your post - anyone that knows me knows that while I can be a difficult, argumentative, opinionated, arrogant and even objectionable person - the last thing I am when it comes to country sports is money grabbing. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE has put as much into countrysports as we have over the last 34 years. I would challenge you to find a single person or organisation over that 34 years that we have refused sponsorship over that complete period. However I am even more angry at your comments about Neil . I can assure you he is very much his own man and we have ha
  24. Thanks Margaret, great write up as usual ,I was thinking of asking Albert could we tie the knot at the fair in Birr next year, and have the reception in the Beer tent that night Graham, As Runner Up in the FN Championship for two years I have other plans for you! AND there will be some extra special attractions and opportunities for Knot tying at our 2013 THREE DAY FESTIVAL! Give me a call or drop me your number to irishgamefair@btinternet - I have a few prizes for you. Albert
