  1. You have to have been lurcher CHAMPION at qualifying shows. Only Runner Up to Qualify is RUNNER UP to the current champion Fiona Devlin's Maverick. Which show is it you wish to check as a qualifier?
  2. Can't get the staff! Master McGrath qualifying form for Mourne got put in with other forms. Ged has cleared this up - he qualified at another show.
  3. Full credit to Paul for bringing the dog 'back' after it was very unfairly seized by the USPCA/PSNI. But there are many other fine dogs qualified for the largest final yet - and with three judges judging to an objective judging template it will be a close call.
  4. Claims are now virtually in but still a few to go. When making a claim if you have not completed a qualifying form please email me ( at irishgamefair@btinternet.com) full details at follows : Name of Owner; Address and preferably email and telephone number; Name of Dog ; Show where claim is being made for and whether it is for Lurcher or Terrier Championships.
  5. Thanks to everyone who has mailed in other results. We know there are a few others but with respect the suggestion that we look through the list of results is useful but not what we want - we need names, addresses, name of dog and show where qualified in order to get tickets out and register the subscription for the magazine. Keep claims coming to us at irishgamefair@btinternet.com to enable you to compete in Ireland's top terrier & lurcher events. See http://www.irishgameandcountryfair.com/terriers.asp
  6. A number of qualifiers/shows have not returned their qualifying forms for the FIVE NATIONS LURCHER & TERRIER FINALS. Irene has put together a listing of the qualifying forms she has received and actioned for passes , registration for magazine subscription etc. Five Nations Terrier Championships SHOW QUALIFIER KV Shane Carson JRCGB Louise Croucher Des Mackins Show Janet Duke TRTC Scotland Bob Downie Mrs MC Forest
  7. Bri, You would be behind quite a queue of poor shots, self included,. If you want a shot can certainly probably arrange to let you borrow a gun!
  8. The Irish Game & Country Fair Birr Castle, Co Offaly on the 31st August and the 1st September hasn't only the BEST Terrier & Lurcher and Gundog Prize fund but also the TOP CLAY PIGEON PRIZE FUND and quite uniquely even a poor shot can win a gun worth nearly €2,000. Some of the biggest clay pigeon shooting prizes in Ireland will be on offer at the annual Irish Game & Country Fair over Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September at Birr Castle, Co Offaly. And according to the organisers, even novice and rough shooting shots have a chance of pulling some of that prize pot, in
  9. The Largest Gundog weekends in Ireland take place at the GREAT GAME FAIRS of IRELAND at Shanes Castle, Antrim and Birr Castle , Co Offaly. Having set a record for gundog entries at Shanes Castle (see video https://vimeo.com/69578781) we now move on to the Irish Game and Country Fair at Birr on the 31st August and the 1st September where the gundog events are sponsored by Red Mills, KM Engineering, Dubarry and Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine. Here , as normal, you will see the cream of retriever and spaniel work and the largest number of gundogs competing. www.irishgameandcountryf
  10. One might think that this section of the forum is JUST about Terriers & Lurchers but while we have made Terrier, Whippet and Lurcher events an important and integral part of our events AND not been afraid to feature them in our publicity - in my opinion Game Fairs should be about ALL country sports. Thus we try to produce the best quality competitions with top prize funds to attract the cream of the competitors from throughout Ireland and further afield; the best selection of trade stands possible; action packed arena programmes which are attractive to the public and introduce them to our

  15. Not to mention free admin for the lurcher and terrier folk... FREE ADMIN or FREE ADMISSION? If it is FREE admission to the main Fair have to say well done to Ian - we are only offering terrier, whippet & lurcher folk two days for the price of one but of course also the best prizes in Ireland. People wanting to race their dogs on Saturday AND show their dogs at Birr on Sunday email me at irishgamefair@btinternet.com for details of 2 days for the price of one.
  16. Felt a little bad about not allocating Five Nations qualifiers to this show in our home area but thought it wouldn't look well as it clashed with Borris! Especially as Ian and I get on fine. But as it is in our 'home' area we will put up £50 for the top digging team!
  17. While the best country sports bargains and competition prizes in Ireland are to be had at the Irish Game & Country Fair, Birr on the 31st August and 1st September www.irishgameandcountryfair.com The Midland Fair on the 14 & 15 Sept 2013 at Weston Park ShropshireTF11 8LE is probably the best place for both in the UK.

  19. As I said on facebook - a very well written report.
  20. I can claim no credit whatsoever for this - usually we script them but Harry did the lot - chose the music, chose the attractions, worked with Paul and Rachel in choosing the interviews and then got me to do a few carefully scripted links ( his script not mine!) - oh I did have one input - to get the Master Mc Grath covered and the presentation of the Philip Lawton Memorial trophy otherwise Harry had a completely free hand and it worked!
  21. The Terrier Final will start at 5.00pm sharp in the main arena and it is the responsibility of qualifiers to be there on time. The Lurcher Final will follow with a target starting time of 5.30 pm so
