  1. Thanks for the interest guys. We will have special ferry rates for Scottish participants and all Scottish qualifiers get £50 or €50 towards expenses plus of course tickets for the shows.
  2. Shane, So you should be - you have a great team with real family commitment. We all have enjoyed working with you and you set a standard of organisation that's hard to beat. With Tango's expertise added at Shanes I feel we really do have the two top teams in the country. Albertj
  3. John, Thanks - look forward to visiting your show again next year - mighty craic. Albert
  4. Jimmy, If you let me know which shows are nearest to you I will contact the organiser to see if we can have a few whippet classes and a qualifier.
  5. In 2013 we organised 1.A hugely successful Master McGrath Challenge at the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle 2. A brilliant FIVE NATIONS LURCHER CHAMPIONSHIP at the Irish Game & Country Fair at Birr Castle where Fiona Devlin's Maverick defended his title and qualifies again for 2014. 3. A fantastic FIVE NATIONS TERRIER CHAMPIONSHIP at the Irish Game & Country Fair at Birr Castle where Dodge a top English terrier won against very strong opposition. AND of course we ran the 26th annual ALL IRELAND TERRIER & LURCHER CHAMPIONSHIPS to award the titles All Ireland Lurc

  9. Great gesture and a very nice compliment to you Margaret.
  10. Patsy looks right at home with this two band. Funny we were looking at some photographs the other evening when we had our own 'in house' re-enactment regiment - so he might be getting a call to be 'press ganged'.
  11. Yes the dog was well turned out and so was the lady - I heard Fiona wanted to win the racing, the showing and the best dressed lady award! Next year I hear she's going for the digging too and has a ferret in training!
  12. Great Photos Bluebell can you email them to Paul for the magazine? We go to print next week.
  13. IL, Nothing really needs to be 'turned round' as the Master Mc Grath and the 26th All Ireland Terrier & Lurcher Championships went well at Shanes Castle in 2013 when organised by the NILRC ( under the chairmanship of ex chairman Tom Barry). Unfortunately one little spat over a racing result slightly ruined the atmosphere but the show, as usual, was a great success. However I am sure that every terrier, lurcher and whippet enthusiast in Ireland will wish Kieran well as he takes on the 27th All Ireland Terrier, Whippet and Lurcher Championships, Ireland's longest running and most prestig
  14. Thanks Shane but apart from experience what makes me be able to relax is that Paul Pringle and I know that we have put together a good professional and creative marketing campaign; my team on the ground building the fair work hard and know what they are doing; the estate team for their input; our fellow director David Wilkinson looking after postering, horse and hounds and the Mount Palmer and car park areas; Edwin - exhibitor liaison and site at night; AND the undoubted 'STAR' of the team Irene - who looks after administration, finances, main gate and still found time to take over Philip's HQ
  15. Margaret, Thanks for the compliments particularly to the Roscrea lads for their organisation of two days of top class events; Kieran Young for delivering another great digging championship and to my wife Irene who already covered a great deal of the work associated with the fairs also taking on most of the late Philip Lawton's workload as well as her own. She says if I hadn't wanted her looking after the gate receipts I would have had her doing the commentary as well!
  16. The winner was Martin Hulme's Rushill Dodge. He beat a great field of Irish, Welsh and English terriers under three Irish judges. His brother was runner up!
  17. Didn't know about this - even though I spoke to Des at length about his show as it was a qualifier for the FN and we would have supported this. Des like many people with a 'heart of gold' likes to do his good work from 'behind the scenes'. Well done Des for your very kind gesture.
  18. Fiona, Congratulations on some good results at Birr - I didn't see much of the racing but I understand you were very successful and what a superb performance to win the Five Nations Lurcher Championship for the second year under three different judges. Maverick did you proud in that he was superbly turned out. Albertj
  19. A big thank you Margaret for judging the handling classes - I hope this is the start of your judging career!
  20. A great result for the Five Nations Terrier Champion Dodge who finished off his career after his UK title with a great win against some top English, Welsh and Irish dogs. My heartfelt thanks to his sporting owner who gave us all the privilege of seeing this great dog. And of course a warm invitation is extended to you Paulus to next year's fairs!
  21. Just back home after clearing up the site after the best game and country fair in the ROI and certainly one that demonstrated that our professional team including our event organisers are second to none. Thank you to our gundog , angling, clay shooting and terrier & lurcher organisers for putting on exemplary well run events which demonstrated that the Great Game Fairs of Ireland organise and host the top terrier, whippet, lurcher, gundog, clay shooting and angling events AND of course Birr hosted what was a magical Digging Event. We were also delighted to welcome once again the Irish Wor
  22. I would agree entirely with Bluebell regarding fairness in racing- I really do hope this objective is given priority. Also agree with Des on the Working Terrier Federation - why seek to duplicate or compete with things or organisations that are working?
