  1. Why does the collie on the farm nip and bite at cattle and sheep Bad socialisation ?
  2. Sorry bout that , just trying to make a point
  3. Totally agree, well done on your degree the only issue I have with that is , a dog never has a psychological problem , it only ever has a physical one a dog resolves a problem , physically a problem dog, be it dog aggression , human aggression , aggressive when on the lead , all arise because a dog feels stuck , unable to move physically , it’s feels acted upon and needs a physical expression fear is resolved through energetic output , stimulation resolved in the same manner , physically moving its body and that’s the crux of understanding canine behaviour you c
  4. Not a bother jig your very welcome I’ll show ya what I’m on about
  5. How much socialising does a pup need ? You keep believing what they’re telling you mate , I know what works because I’ve been there , your only believing what you’ve been told ? you are the bloke with the cowering pup , I’m sure , the one with the crap retrieve
  6. A dog is not born social then? The most social animal on earth has to be socialised is that it ? Canine Psychology ?. Canine behavior is based on intention or attraction , what say you smart boy
  7. Jig you over here ? Come and visit , I’m in Wexford
  8. You the lad that pup won’t retrieve? Every pup is born social , you visit a vixen and cubs every day and a bitch and her pups every day , do nothing more than sit there and after 8 weeks of daily visits , do you believe the fox cubs will run to greet you like the pups will ? ? How many hours a day do you need to spend with a pup ? A pup can grow up to be completely social in every way not having met a dog or human only interaction with me for its first year because I’ve done it , I’ve a cane Corso / Dogo that met its first dog at roughly 10 months , no problems whatever
  9. The neediness of the owner can often be transposed onto the dog , if the owner needs it likewise the dog will crave it Your dog is your mirror ?
  10. The truth of it is most behavioural issues are created by us , every pup is an open book to manipulate as we want , too much attention is every bit as bad as too little it’s been proven that an hour a day just in its company is plenty on its own a pup over stimulated in the home becomes a needy whinny nipping problem as it grows which we then have to confront causing a mayor problem trust wise , the bottom line is, every pup is born Social , you don’t need to spent hours kissing and cuddling the pup because you will be making a cross for your own back every anti
  11. Taking traumatised dogs on, unless your going to fully commit to the task of physical rehabilitation of large driven problem dogs , it can be like keeping a ticking time bomb you can pet the fuckers all day long and think that’s want it needs to reform its character and talk softly too it before it goes to bed but , a damaged dog has a problem it can only get over , through physical actions It needs to express the fear that went in Back out again an Explosive Force controlled by its handler , is the best senerio any other way usually get printed in the paper and doesn’t
  12. Dog can go by how a situation feels to him in the present moment, even in a strange environment , that’s the beauty of the dog, it doesn’t break down into a instinctive pattern , which is fear based , whereas wolf first port of call is instinctive, when placed in a different environment , basically has to write a physical memory of a new encounter wolf , something different /new triggers fear first and painfully slowly overcomes that dog , bounds up to any new object /place without a care in the world dog is a wolf without all the restrictions life in the wild impo
  13. It’s still puppy farming , whatever way you wrap it up , they’re not been given away , The dogs and bitches are there solely to produce pups , what the hell else can you call it ??
  14. Nice control from that pup , you must be happy with him at that age , looks a nice one
  15. What answer did I give you Who the f**k are ya , ?? When my wife died in 2004 I gave up proper hunting I just f****d about with rabbits , I had a saluki type at the time of her death I couldn’t get right , I gave it away , I had 2 kids under the age of 8 and a lot of time on my hands , so I made a vow to find out why I couldn’t manage the saluki cross so for years I studied dogs on my own their movements , there body language and why they do things to the point where I work with problem dogs of all types , dogs are a simple animal when you know what their end game is my last
  16. Me jack Russel retrieves better that , fella
  17. Not talking about sitting in your company , it’s more an issue of a dog not registering a behavior when You approach
  18. It’s a confidence issue no doubt , tail waging is an appeasement behaviour, the only way you’ll fix it is for the pup to be comfortable in your space
  19. Has he done much work ?? the fact that he’s more interested in humping than working would cause me concern ,
  20. Mate , if you know what a dogs end game is you can work back from that, dog training is basically a connection based on flow , if the dog can Feel movement /potential movement in its association with us , it won’t load over load but where people will get caught out is, you can’t use use the energy building theory /stress that builds and builds until it explodes into aggressive behaviour, because it is in direct conflict with the dog as cognitive being, a thinking machine on 4 legs basically the dogs is either thinking or it’s not , it can’t be both instinctiv
  21. I must be right, they seem to agree with me in this weeks CMW anyway ???? you heard it here first but people are suddenly talking about socialising pups and stress building etc cant put anything up , ?
  22. Nice work Pups doing great I would expend the retrieve to retrieve and carry , walking along side you Don’t be in a panic to get to perfect hand over at that stage what I mean on the retrieve , you want the pup to feel there is movement in the retrieve So when it turns towards you , you are already moving away , your putting down a physical memory of movement without forcing it to come into your space I would rather a pup dropped the item walking along side that having it taken as soon as it comes into my space if you get my drift , a pup will gravitate to a moving human rat
