The trips in the car has got to mean something to the dog, a dog can deal with a negative if it leads to a positive if at the end of a short trip the dog gets to have a good time hunting playing whatever it then can start processing the negetive car journey into a prelude to a positive outcome

Dogs were designed by nature to be killers, I don't know why people are amazed when they actually kill something , Dogs are neither good or bad , they are only processing what they feel inside, the chickens cause excitement in the dog , when a dog can't act on that excitement ,it's stored inside like a kettle slowly boiling , if that energy/excitement is not channelled into some other prey making activity , it will eventually boil over leading in your case to dead chickens , the dog hasn't turned his prey making nature hasn't been honoured ,

Chew Toys Causing Gun Dogs To Go Hard Mouthed?
Casso replied to fabiomilitello's topic in Gundogs & Retrievers
You should also ask if there are hard mouthed dogs out there whom have never used a bite item, There are many causes of a hard mouth, if bite items arnt used what causes it then ?? -
Out coursing many many years ago and one of the lads dogs pulled one out of a drain, all the hounds bailed in , and all the hounds bailed out again , never seen an animal with such movement , like a snake , a crunching bite delivered at lighting speed , strong and supple awesome animal ,got great respect for them

Sheep Killers.. Shoot Them Or School Them
Casso replied to Landrace's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
The younger you put a charge into a dog the deeper and more drawn to it the dog will be , Protection dogs are started young on the bite sleeve because it creates a charge in the pup at the young age, The more intense the introduction to an object the greater the impression made on the pup and that includes sheep Had a half terrier bitch years ago that could kill anything we came across on the lamp , when she first bumped into sheep she had 3/4 seasons done and completely ignored them because they had never stimulated anything in her , she had no energetic interaction with them and she al -
Dogs are both predator and prey, the prey element in a dog is the fear point , the predator is the calm eager conifident pushy forcefull side, Most of the quirks in the dogs character are caused by a fear imprint at some stage in its development , the predator side just needs to be channeled Working with a tug item Skyccat stylie ?is exercising the predator up close and personal, two predators alining around a prey item yourself and the mutt, it's how wolves form social bonds same principle, it's also the final point of the hunt , the killing action, all the tension resolved into the grab and

Airedale X Saluki Greyhound On Lurcherlink
Casso replied to foresterj's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
It may have a problem with its behaviour , I would be very surprised after 4 owners if it didn't but every pup starts as an open book for the owner to mould in the finished product -
A tug item might be ok but I would be more concentrated on food , Not just hand feed but really make her work for it, pushing in through resistance of your left hand on her lower neck, front feet off the ground with you standing to get to the food in your right , she may not do it at the start as the resistance may be too much for her but you will see progress as she becomes more comfortable with giving you her energy , The higher the temperament in a dog the easier the exercise will be, more sensitive ones will struggle at the start It's not the hand feeding as such it's pushing throug

Airedale X Saluki Greyhound On Lurcherlink
Casso replied to foresterj's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Dogs are highly sexed , that's also part of the reason why they are so social , never felt that diminishing part of the entire dog would make him anymore social, Neutered dogs can and are every bit aggressive The problem is not the entire dog , the problem is how we judge behaviour -
It sounds like something to do with how she' feels about high value items such as food rabbit etc All items can become hugly valued if you let it and you take yourself out of the equation Dogs are drawn to objects in their environment that energise them and that Ground their energy, rabbits , foxes , a ball , a sleeve, whatever it is for whatever dog , So before we run into a issue with pups and food and aggression and how they feel about prey items , I drain the energy through me offering resistance to eat , Food / prey items causes energy in dogs , energy just can't go away it mus

Try chaining the heel exercise as a prelude to something positive If your yanking on the lead and shouting heel there is no flow for the pup in the command Pups started with commands that have to be enforced such as recall and heel and stay have a real issue seeing the positive in it If a pup can see a positive in the exercise it can start controlling itself , a recall that leads to getting to chase a ball or dummy or a heeling exercise that leads to similar , short distances to start with and gradually build it up , In general try keeping the pup engaged with you while walking , if Ya

Mcgregor can fight going forward same as he can fight going backwards, how does aldo prepare for someone like mcgregor ? The biggest problem mcgregor has at 145 is the weight cut and the effects of that in a 5 rounder.
-
Nice little write up, best of luck with her sir,

Where abouts have ya settled Wilf, much hunting about ?
-
Ufc need a headline grabber at the lower weights, to get the public's interest flowing, Love him or hate him he's done that, the lads in sbg have come a long way in short time The one thing I would say about mcgregor is that he has worked his bollocks off to get there, he locks up at night because the rest off the lads have fecked off hours before, By the time that fight rolls in it will be one of the biggest in recent years and have made truck loads of money for all involved and that's basically what it's all about

Talking to a old gun dog man the other day and he was saying that some breeds are more driven and less social now then before as far back as he could remember The point he was making was that pups from high driven high achieving dogs trained to e collar selling pups to ordinary gunmen using traditional methods but finding the dogs less social and too driven for ordinary punter ??
-
Its a relative term, there is a huge rush to train pups in today's climate, all I'm saying is a lot of it is counter productive and we are instigating commands expecting the pup to follow suit at a stage where the pup is programmed to form social bonds where negetive interaction registers much higher than we think it does,
-
There seems to be general move to have the finished article by 6 months of age as if you don't get a pup trained as soon as possible it's going to grow up to be unruly and wild, Years ago I was told let a pup be a pup and what that really means is don't constantly stimulate him under the guise of training or similar activities, the younger you instill a fault or habit maybe not your fault the harder it is to counteract on it if it f**ks up Constant attention or fussing can actually work in opposite to what's expected from a pup, a little attention is fine like a piece of chocolate cake

The issue which usually scuppers all things been fair and equal in dog sports is 1 /Money 2/ the human Ego, The dog is just doing what it's bred for but at the same time it needs to be protected from itself , not always the biggest concern around the pit wall

Sky cat, You may disagree with hand feeding with kids in the home but if you havent done it or seen the results don't knock it, It gives a context and an association, I think your missing the point , food doesn't become an ISSUE, you throw down a bowl and step back , then your making food important , your creating space , a zone to let the pup behave instinctively, I have feed pups in this manner with young chaps around the place for as long as I can remember, I would be more worried about a child putting it's hand down to a dog chewing on the floor if it believes the floor is its

Hand feeding does a number of things , food never becomes an issue, fear must be displaced to eat , the harder it is to get the food , the harder it has to work to get the food the more social your making the dog , because fear is the enemy as far as human /dog relations go , fear is totally untrainable, trust is built , I'm not sure of your questions , dogs know when it's dinner time or not , the more social you make the dog the more the dog tunes into you , it a win , win,
-
Every time a issue arises with a wayward, nervous or new pup I recommend f**king the bowl away and hand feeding, you can pet , stroke fuss over or sweet talk or whatever you like but food is a huge issue with dogs/pups and over coming that brings an element of sociality, If a pup has any sort of an issue with you it will come out with food, hand feed never lets an issue arise because food then is never an issue, it has to get over the resistance of you to eat , you make a pup push through one hand to get to the food in the other then food never becomes a problem It's not a dominance issue,

It's when we not breeding for performance that breeds a kink into the temperament, When we breed for working ability in whatever breed we are breeding for structure and heart, In today's world where Friendlyness is a desired trait, what is actually been bred for is a lack of heart and heart is heart for work and for social, A truly social conifident animal has no fear , can identify the avenue which best suits his temperament and is grounded and laid back , it's when we're not breeding for temperament/heart that we get issues with problem dogs
-
That's a good post , forget training or visits to anyone , the single most important issue that pup has is safety, it needs to feel safe around you before it can contimplate doing anything else, I wouldn't bother with the bowl , get him up closer than that and gradually bit by bit fear ebbs away , there is no magic cure , trust must be worked on before anything else

When was a dog attack ever based on the fact a dog was working bred or not, the vast majority of attacks are just family pets with no avenue to Canine expression of any form, Most of the most grounded relaxed animals are actually working dogs , who have clearly identified an avenue of expression be it the pit or the field
