  1. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up the biggest show in the South of Ireland this year! Definitely not to be missed.
  2. I see you TC aare still doing a promotion job for Bill & Derek - What prizes are there for this great line up of Terrier & Lurchers? There doesn't appear to be much information up about that! If you are stuck for idea's for Birr I am sure you could always contact Bill or Derek. I don't see them on the forums here needing tips from you! As I have said before, as someone who works lurchers & terriers, I am more concerned about retaining our sport for the future and I will encourage those who are putting effort in to doing the same. If this is your attitude then I don't re
  3. Here! Here! I always tried to attend and support all shows north and south, for the good of working lurchers and terriers and all things shooting etc but I can tell you with the content of posts over the last month by Albert J and/or TomW42 (from Shanes and Birr), I know where my loyalty will lie in the future and it certainly will no longer be either Shanes or Birr. It looks to me like anyone that mentions anything about Moira, or indeed Ballinlough, must be involved in organising it. Paranoid or what?
  4. Ballinlough Game Fair, Co Westmeath - 18/19 July

  6. I was talking to ones who said they paid £4 quid per entry - could they have paid for the barbour coat? I was asked by TOMW42 (or is it Albert?) if I am connected with Moira. I have nothing to do with the Moira show but at least their prizes were worth having and entry was not overpriced. On top of the dog food, trophies and rosettes there were leather leads, massive dog beds etc - what good is a barbour coat to a working lurcher, terrier or whippet?
  7. Anyone staying overnight or for the weekend at Ballinlough? Can you recommend a few good spots to stay where the food and craic might be good?
  8. Agree but then there appears to be more effort going into running down other shows in the north. Moira show must be a serious threat if it hurts other organisers so much that they have to keep running it down in stead of focusing on improving their own shows. Don't know Bill and Derek personally, but keep up the good work at Moira guys!! Above comments just sound like sour grapes to me!
  9. The show was similar to previous years, certainly nothing record breaking about it - average in fact, unless I was at a different show in Shanes?? I don't really see anything new each year at Shanes but Moira always manage to pull new ideas out of the hat. Don't know about the 200 trade stands, certainly didn't look like it to me. Wife and kids wanted to leave early.
  10. See the lurcher and terrier categories up on the Ballinlough Game Fair website. Looks like a great line up - see categories for Whippets and Bull Cross as well. Sunday appears to be the big day! Looking forward to that one.
  11. there is a big one in westmeath in july 17th and 18th i think the same organizers as moira in co down There is an Irish Country Fair with Terrier & Lurcher Show at Barryscourt Castle, Cork on the 18th &19th July Is there any shows on for lurchers around southern ireland in the next couple of weeks...?? Yes! We had 2 great days out at Moira at the Lurcher and Terrier show, despite the rain. Same organisers are running the show in Ballinlough Castle in Westmeath on 18/19 July so I have no doubt the Lurchers and Terriers will be well organised there too.
  12. Ozzy, I passed you post and others on to Albert Tittering the Director of the Shanes Castle and Birr Castle - not a terrier & lurcher guy but a doggy man since a boy and someone who has always supported terriers & lurchers. His response: Tom, Re : Your mail Thank you for passing on some of the messages from the Hunting Life site - I wish I had the time you guys have to spend on these sites. Interesting comments- although I tend to agree with the guy who implied you all had too much time on your hands! I have always tried to be fair in my comments on Moira in th
  13. Mr Fox reminds me of a night we were out and my mate who has a little hearing problem momentarily turned round from his view down the scope only to find we was the one being watched... by Mr Fox about 20 yards behind him! Aye those pics bring back good memories from last years show, was just saying really looking forward to Sat & Sun up at Moira. They really work hard up there to promote our thing.
  14. Yeah, really looking forward to Moira Game Fair this weekend. The guys up there who organise the lurcher & terrier events do a first class job. Agree the prizes are best around for us guys of any of the shows here and there is always a great atmosphere.

  16. Rookie Hunter, Are you not putting down other shows and what about a writ. I said Moira was OK but its just a copy - Shanes starts things off like the jousting - Moira follows. What about these Fests - medieval fest - Food Fests etc - just silly names for not a lot. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Moira always primises a lot and in my opinion which I'm entitled too doesn't deliver half of what it says. Its a copy of Shanes not the oroiginal and what about the one in the ROI - it too is just a copy of the one at Birr. You sound like an advert for Moira which appears famous f
