Thanks for your input. We have never claimed Ballywalter is Ireland's premier Game Fair - The Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle is. As you are well aware we took over Ballywalter last year at very short notice ( two months) when BASC cancelled their fair. It was a huge success and this year will be even better. The Terrier and Lurcher events have a central place in the fair with their own superb race track, showing area and car parking. Unlike other events which appear to wish to be ashamed of the Terrier & Lurcher events and keep them outside the fair - we believe that they should be

gamefairs n shows

Size is not a measure of quality. For size, quality and well run lurcher and terrier events, then out of all the above it would have to be the Moira show at the end of May as far as game fairs go. -
I agree. For a show run as part of a game fair, this has to be one of the best. The Gilford club know how to put on a good event. I think they also do the luchers and terriers for the Ballinlough show.

I agree with some of the points here but you can't compare stand alone lurcher/terrer shows with gamefairs. Gamefairs represent the vast majority of all the different country sports disciplines out there and therefore to appeal to that number of people they will be much larger, have a multitude of stalls and no doubt extremely expensive to run. See how long your free tea's last as your show numbers grow.

Have you seen the prizes on offer up at the Moira show for the lurchers and terriers? Thats where we're heading. Will you not be there already Bill? I'm not Bill but I was up at Moira both days and can only congratulate those who organise it. We have had a fantastic couple of days. Yesterday was good despite the rain, today was great! Well done! -

I'm simply a visitor not one of the organisers and yes i seen that on their sites. My guess would be that with the top prize for each show being a trip to the midland game fair, it would allow more than one dog the chance to compete for their country at the midland. Sounds like what they're trying to do is offer the chance to send over a strong team of dogs to the midland. I could be wrong but if this is the case it sounds to be a good idea.

Rab I like you went on way back in May to say the same thing and have been on the receiving end of crap from Albert Titterington since. I have working dogs and although I don't enter them into the shows anymore, I do still follow that part of any show with interest and my concern was for the good of the sport. Despite only being a member of the paying public at shows, I stand accused of being one of the organisers of Moira and Ballinlough with inside information. Anyone who has read my posts would realise I have no inside information and have simply responded to say that I see no reason -

I see you TC aare still doing a promotion job for Bill & Derek - What prizes are there for this great line up of Terrier & Lurchers? There doesn't appear to be much information up about that! If you are stuck for idea's for Birr I am sure you could always contact Bill or Derek. I don't see them on the forums here needing tips from you! As I have said before, as someone who works lurchers & terriers, I am more concerned about retaining our sport for the future and I will encourage those who are putting effort in to doing the same. If this is your attitude then I don't re -

FOR THE FIRST YEAR IN ITS HISTORY, I FOR ONE WILL NOT!! The arrogance of its key organiser is here for all to read on the forums so I will stick to the smaller shows and the larger game fairs - MOIRA & BALLINLOUGH! -
