  1. Hi all I was just wondering what pellets you guys can recommened for my .22 1977 HW35. I've decided to shake off the dust, and take the rifle out of the cabinet for some zeroing at the weekend, and will probably get some different pellets to try. I have heard that RWS Superdomes are very good, Any opinions? The only pellets i have at present in .22 are , Bisley Superfield and Bisley Practice, and from memory, i cant remember these pellets being that accurate in the HW35. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, John
  2. Hi As i'm soon to start some pest control on rats, i'm looking for a reliable scope mounted lamp to fit on my new HW100, and i was just wondering which of the 2 above torches ( in the posts title) would be the best for ratting. Any other suggestions on scope mounted torches that won't break the bank will be greatly appreciated, Regards, John
  3. I'm not slaging off the r10 at all. But i would seriously have a few shots with a HW100 before you make your final decision mate. You are going to spend a lot of money, and believe me. The 100 is in a different class
  4. I also had to recently make a choice between spending a load of my hard earned cash, i narrowed it down to an Air Arms s410 and a HW100. Once in the shop, and trying out a couple of rifles, i opted for a new HW100S in .177 calibre. The gun came with 2, 14 shot magazines. These are virtually indestructable, Some say the best in the business. I must say, after fireing off a few shots in the field last week when zeroing, i know that i made the right choice. The side cocking mechanism is second to none, and the build quality is unbelievable. And as far as accuracy is concerned, even a mug like
  5. Thanks for the reply tegater Put this question on another forum and got the answer. The pro model (mine) does not have Rain or 150 mode. Instead it has Angle and height measurment intead. I checked on Debens web site and looked at the instruction manual for both the 600 and 600 pro. And there laid the answer. The gun shop who sold me this rangefinder had told me that this model had the rain mode fitted. Guess they got it wrong, or just said it to make a sale, John
  6. Hi I was just wondering if any of you guys own or have used a Hawke 600 Rangefinder. The reason i'm asking is because, the 600 series have 2 special mode features that are, Rain and 150 mode. I have recently purchased one of these rangefinders, the pro model, but can't seem to access these two functions. Am i doing something wrong ? When i push the mode button once, i get the word beeline in the viewfinder ---------------------------- twice i get the word High in the viewfinder ---------------------------- 3 times i get the word Angle in the viewfinder. After these options any further
  7. If you have the bucks, this is the rifle that i would go for. In fact, i just have. I bought a brand new HW100s .177 last sunday, and i'm sure glad i did. As soon as i handled the gun for the first time the build quality and feel was self evident. To be fair, it puts a lot of other so called top performers to shame. Even the 14 shot mag is metal with no moving parts to break, or fumbling around trying to load pellets like my old mk1 Rapid 7. And when you pull the trigger for the first time with a pellet loaded, my god, i thought that all the air had leaked out the cylinder. I have never known
  8. Thanks for the replies lads. I've never read Airgun Shooter, so i might try a couple of issues just to see how it goes, John
  9. Hi As my interest in Airgun shooting has recently been rekindled, i was just wondering which of the 2 above magazines are the best to read. Many years ago when the great John Darling was writing articles, i was an avid follower ( I cant remember which magazine he wrote for though) I am now thinking of taking out a subscription for one of the above magazines, and would appreciate you comments to which is the overall best mag, Atb John
  10. Hi all Went out this morning to collect my new purchase, a HW100 .177 fitted with a Hawke Eclipse 3-12 X 50 IR AO scope. Also splashed out on a LRF 600 Pro Solar rangefinder and a 3 litre 300 Bar Air Cylinder, to save the agro of return trips to my local diving shop. Pictures to follow when i get a chance, John
  11. As avove , but just make sure that no neighbours see you
  12. Thanks for all the useful info and advice lads. I'll let you know asap what i buy and i'll post a couple of pic's when i get it, John
  13. Hi all I've decided to splash out some wonga and treat myself to a brand new .177 pcp. The rifle will be used for some target work and a bit of bunny bashing. After reading vertually 100% positive reviews on the HW100 on it's accuracy, build quality, and anti double loading feature, i'm more or less certain that this rifle is for me. However, as i used to own a Rapid 7 mk 1 in .22 cal, i also fancy another rapid in the smaller .177 cal. But since the demise of theoben, this has put me off a bit. Most of the gunshops that i have spoken to have told me that the HW100 is the gun to go f
  14. Good advice there. If you are looking to buy something second hand that is very reliable and good value for money, buy a Lanber. These guns will last a lifetime if looked after, and gunsmiths like working on them because they are of simple construction. John
  15. tomospants If you have narrowed down the choice to either the Benelli or the SX3 , go to your local Gunshop and handle both. When i bought my SX3, i handled a Maxus, a benelli and a Lanber. The SX3 was the last gun i handled and i knew instantly that it felt better than the others. Good luck in what you choose and let us know how you get on, Regards, John
  16. Thants your opinion mate. I wouldn't change my SX3 3.5'' for anything else. Cheaper than the m2 to buy new and just as reliable. Probably true about the cleaning being a bit easier with an inertia gun, but you forgot to mention that inertia guns also have more felt recoil than Gas Guns. I've owned my SX3 now for about 2 years and it has never jammed once. Oh, and by the way, My SX3 also came with a 5 year warranty from Winchester. tomospants. There are a couple of videos on the tube that shows exactly how to strip and build up the SX3 for complete cleaning should you be interested. Reg
  17. Hi jayhawk. I can't comment on the spinning winged decoys that you are enquiring about, but i can recommened a pair of Hypa flaps from the uk shootwarehouse. I bought a pair about a year ago, and i think that they are probably one of the best buys i have ever made. The wings of the Hypa flaps are extremely strong and effective at mimmicking a pigeons wing movements. And if there are any woodies in the area, they will come over to investigate. The Hypa flaps come with simple fitting instructions which made it simple for even a clumsy sod like me to put together. It's just a case of unrappin
  18. Another vote here for the Winchester. In my opinion the SX3 is the best quality, value for money Shotgun out there
  19. something fishy here . I dont suppose this Miller91, is also the above starter of this thread liam peel by any chance is it. Both from Sunderland, both only posted once, and both asking to shoot Rabbits, Rats and maybe Birds too
  20. What ever you do dont admit that you over tightened the bolts. Just plead ignorant and say that the bolts have been coming loose ever since you bought the rifle which is why you are bringing it back to them to have it checked out. It's like anything in life, never admit liability unless you have to, Good luck, John
  21. Is this a wind up your 1st post is to ask on an open forum where is best to break the law to go poaching with a gun?? Google armed trespass and let us know how you get on. Exactly what i was thinking. If it's not a wind up then the postee must be of a very young and immature nature even to consider poaching, let alone asking people where to go and do it
  22. Glad you got it sorted PLEDGEY. And congratulations on your SX3 purchase. I bought my SX3 about a year ago and i love it to bits. I opted for the 3.5'' composite model, as i do a lot of pest control out in the field, and i couldn't bare the thought of scratching up a nice wooden stock. Just keep her clean mate and she'll last you for years, John
  23. Maybe this will help too : http://www.ar15armory.com/forums/reverse-safety-Brown-t101500.html
