  1. Thanks for the reply Pink or stink I'm in no immediate rush to sort this problem , so i'll just keep my options open for now and see what happens , John
  2. Look forward to seeing some pics when the rifle is finished and put back together
  3. Hi all I have recently come into the possession of a late 70's .177 Bsa mercury , so i have decided to give it a total refurb. The problem i seem to be having is , i cant seem to find any scope rails that stay on the rifles mounting grooves. I had a set 2 piece mounts laying about the house , so i obviously tried these first. However , after only a few shots the mounts simply came off , and this happened after 2 or 3 different attempts to attach them. I then decided to buy a set of one piece mounts off the bay , made by Hawke , item number 360173943410 , after reading that one piece m
  4. Hi all I am in the process of filling in the forms to renew my .22 rimfire fac. At present my fac is closed so i am just wondering how to word the seperate letter that i am going to send in with the forms asking to open up my ticket. As this is my first renewal , any advice on this subject will be greatly appreciated as i want to get the forms filled in and sent off as quickly as possible. I only use my rimfire for pest control and i am not in any shooting club. Regards, John
  5. As above. Even now , if i think too much before i take a shot i usually miss, Where as , if i just shoot on instinct and point the gun , i usually hit the target , Usually that is , John
  6. Thanks for the swift reply wurz. Yes , the 3-9x40 looks a real bargan at £29.99. I was also looking at the Nikko Stirling Mountmaster 3-9x40 PX priced at £36.99. Have you got any info on this scope , John http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/riflescopes-nikko-stirling-mountmaster/nsmm3940ao-nikko-stirling-mountmaster-3-9x40-px-adj--riflescope-with-mounts-nmm3940ao.html
  7. Hi all I've recently picked up a late 70's / early 's 177 Bsa Mercury , and i am just wondering what scope you guys recommend that wont break the bank. To be honest , i dont want to spend any more than about £50 if possible as the gun is currently being serviced at the gunsmiths , and as usual i'm on a budget. Maybe a Hawk , or a leapers , Nikko sterling , Walther etc. Are there any scopes to avoid because they can't handle the springers recoil. Are any too long , and could cause problems when cocking the rifle ? The Gun will only be used for general plinking and maybe a bit of bunny
  8. Hi all After a long absence from the airgun scene , i have just picked up an old .177 bsa mercury from a chap at work. I only collected the rifle yesterday , and overall , the gun is in pretty good condition , apart from a few spots of surface rust on the barrel and a few scratches here and there. I have been out this morning and fired off a few shots through the chrony with Bisley Practice 7.2g pellets and the results were as follows : Highest 764.5fps / Lowest 740.5fps / Average 753.2fps = 9.7ft11b. Is this power level Adequate for corvid and bunny bashing , or should i spend a few
  9. I bought my rotary from Decoying Direct ( no connection with decoying.co.uk ) and i have had no problems at all. Paul , who runs the company is very friendly and will always try to help if you have any questions or problems. The current price at the moment for a rotary from this company is £69 , which includes the battery and vat , John Ps : Paul also runs The pigeon shooter : http://www.thepigeon...er.com/Home.asp Decoying Direct : http://www.decoyingd...=7&CategoryID=1
  10. I use both plastic and metal and personally i dont really have a preference from the two , as they have both performed faultlessly over the last 5 years since i bought my .22 rimmy. As already mentioned , most good gunshops will be able to supply new mags in both 5 and 10 shot capacity. Failing that , you can always contact Edgar Brothers who import the CZ range of guns and spares in to the uk. There is also this company who supplies the spare CZ mags that i found online , Regards , John Edgar Brothers : http://shootingsport...arbrothers.com/ Spare CZ Mags : http://c
  11. It doesn't bother me at all mate , i was just thinking that if you posted in the correct section , you may have more chance of selling the equipment
  12. Shouldn't this post be in the buy sell or swap section
  13. Best thing to do mate is to start knocking on some doors
  14. As above. And my choice would be to buy a semi auto , especially if the gun is going to be used for bird and rabbit shooting as you have stated. The gun i opted for is a 3.5'' winchester sx3 12g , and i can tell you that it performs faultlessly. The recoil on the gun is hardly felt and i have never had a mis feed either. Compared to the Beretta's , Benelli's and other big names , the Winchester sx3 is good value for money even when you buy new , and i can assure you the sx3 is every bit as reliable in every way too. The only downside in buying an autoloader is if you intend to do
  15. It's a semi auto shotgun made by Winchester , mine looks like this
  16. Hi I was just wondering if any of you SX3 owners could tell me what carts your guns prefer. I am especially interested in those of you who own the 3.5'' model , as this is also mine. The reason i am asking is that , i usually buy the odd box of carts if and when i need them , but i have now decided to start buying in bulk , and i dont want to end up buying carts that don't suit my gun , also , i just fancy trying something different , and maybe a bit cheaper. The ammo that i have been using to date are the , Rio 20 Super Game 32's , number 6 in 70mm. I have read on Winchesters home
  17. BLACK GUN I found an ' upper magazine throat ' on the USA flea bay , priced at $6.95 part number 150307290242. I can't seem to post the link so just put the number in the search box and it should appear. Not sure if it's the part you want but i thought it's worth checking out , Regards , John
  18. I have never heard of this either , just curious though , what area are you in mate
