Hi All I,ve recently bought a Silver Pigeon S with 1/4 & 1/2 fixed chokes and barrel selector. It explains in the literature about the selector but does'nt say which barrel is 1/4 or 1/2. Does anybody out there know which is which? Cheers

As a general rule of thumb for Scotland, remember this saying for Sundays. You can take Fur, but not Feather or Fin

If you've got the metal mags, try spot welding them together on the bottoms. be careful with the heat though in case you bugger up the internal parts. I did this with my old cz and it worked a treat. Traded it in for a Mossberg thumbhole stock and it came with plastic mags!!!!!!!!!!!!! Might try good old superglue with these and see how i get on. Cheers Sako

Hi Rob Just to mirror what everybody else is saying. Go for 12b over and under, it'll do all that you mentioned you want it to do and you'll get a really decent one on your budget. Plus more choice of of shotgun and more choice of cartridge. Good luck!! Might catch up with you at Braidwood some sunny Saturday!! Cheers sako243

Well done tattooben. I've spent countless hours up a highseat freezing me nuts off and never got a shot off yet. Saw plenty walking under and around me but nothing that presented itself nicely. Nice story too!! Cheers sako243

Where about in Perthshire wise man?. I'm from the Borders but if it was driveable??? I was up at Balmanno a couple of weeks ago at an Inter Organisation Rifle Shoot and found it to be easier to get to than i first thought. Cheers sako243

Hey Hoff. You're out of order!! Pest control IS'NT sport. Its a service that we offer to farmers/estate owners etc. That service allows % of us to keep our F.A.C. so have a think to yourself before you go slagging others methods!! Cubs kill too. No man will ever shoot the last fox, they just keep on coming. Have a nice day now!!

Reduce barrel from 25" to 20" in .243 - Bad idea ???
sako243 replied to Lightyear's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I think i understand the penetration/velocity issue, but what about expansion? Will the bullet still expand in the intended manner and depth at a lower velocity? Still curious!! sako243 -

sako243 replied to Lightyear's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Hi I don't want to get all scientific on this, but, if the bullet manufacturer has spent countless money in development of a bullet to do a certain job at a certain velocity, does the bullet still do what it's supposed to do if you lesson it's velocity?? Just curious!! Cheers sako243 -
Hi I use a Sako 75 in stainless/synthetic and have done for years. Great action, magazine and good looks too! Check out www.guntrader.co.uk and type in exactly what you want. There will be loads of them in your price range, and remember not to make a snap decision as you will have the rifle for years if you get a good one at the start. Happy hunting. Cheers ps. Let us know what you buy.

Hi George I've owned and shot a stainless synthetic 75 in 243 for 3 years now and cannot fault it. And it was bought from a grouse keeper, so was second hand when i bought it, but it still shoots like new. Hope this helps! Happy decision making!!! Cheers sako243

why can,t I hit a barn door with a frying pan?
sako243 replied to nimrod49's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
All of the above advice is good. And remember to open your left eye(assuming you're right handed). A lot of rifle shooters have made this mistake at first use of the shotgun. Simples!!!! Enjoy yourself. -
Sorry to preach, but your post implied that HMR is a perfectly adequate fox calibre, and it's not - I don't want someone inexperienced repeating my mistake. There was no implication intended. Sorry if it was mis-leading. As i said-(if you get the chance). If i.m lamping or lying out for fox, it's the good old 243. Absolutely every time.!! But if i'm bunny bopping with the 17hmr and get a decent chance at charlie, i take it. My reply was meant to concentrate more on the safety aspect of 22lr at flat trajectory. Can't have all those walking brigade out there on public paths etc wit
-
Hi Depends on how much you are going to use it and how many rounds you are going to fire on any one night. If you can afford the .17hmr and ammo, go for it. I personally found the 22lr a bit dangerous if firing on a flat trajectory as the bullets would bounce of the ground and go stotting off in all directions, hitting the sides of farm buildings etc. AND you can still do a charlie out to 150yrds no problem if you get the chance! Just my opinion though. Cheers Happy hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got loads of 17hmr 22.250 243 both silver and brass and a couple 25-06. Need a postal address though. .
