  1. European Eagle Owls (EEO's) have been breeding in the wild in the UK for quite a number of years now. The program described is certainly a few years old. In the wild EEO's, main quarry as the film suggests is Rabbit, but they will take other prey items and this includes raptors which is why the RSPB have concerns. They have already been filmed taking and killing Hen Harriers, I believe in the Trough of Bowland in Lancashire? That said the European Eagle Owl now has protected status thanks to the RSPB so they only have theirselves to blame, and it is therefore NOT legal to take EEO's from the w
  2. it wont happen Probably not. the rspb wont allow it derk The RSPB is not a government body! It is a charity. Same as the RSPCA! And therefore it can not pass law, But you are probably right, It won't happen.

What I mean by " Following-on is , Was he following you as you walk, out in an open field, free from obstacles and snags, on a 30yrd-40yrd creance sim

  6. No one can stop you watching the nest as long as you don't interfere with it. I used to watch the local peregrines near my old house. Once in four years did I actually see the adults bring in live prey for the youngsters to chase. The famale came in with a pigeon, called the youngsters up to her then released for the young birds. recaught and repeated the act. Fantastic to watch and a privilage.
  7. It will be interesting to see how this bird matures and performs in the field. Will be watching with interest.
  8. Its a laugh a minute this game pal the way some go on! its a shame as it used to be a good respectible sport but its now getting dragged down hill fast.... there's alot of "Big Willy" stakes to be played by Falconers and breeders these days, why I don't know but from a personal point of view I keep myself to myself and now stay under the Raydar while the Dummy spitting and Handbags are being thrown! the good thing is when I moved house I also had a number change so I don't even have to listen to alot of the bollox on the phone now ........ Jasper Hi! All, I have Not been on here fo
  9. If you don't want help! Don't ask? I gave you the name of someone in your area. Ungreatful ....!
  10. Try Lurchers of this site?
  11. Merlins have to be one of the most agile little Falcons I have ever had the pleasure to whatch! Chasing larks over moorland! Makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck! Wonderful!
  12. These are Choc Lab x Italian Spinone And not as hot as other pointer crosses and easier to handle. They are no bigger than Labs but end up slightly thicker set than pointers. Both dogs pictured are brothers from two seperate matings. Both pictured on point at a cock pheasant.
  13. The mating I did was a Lab dog to a Spin bitch. Pups all resembled Spins!
  14. And just for the record. The missunderstanding between Jan and myself was sorted out via pm weeks ago!!!!!!
  15. Pick your rattle up and put your dummy back in! I don't mind people taking falconry up as long it is done in a responsable manner. Your the one who needs to keep your silly little comments to yourself. If you want advice then take the advice given. If you don't then keep your trap shut!
  16. SAM! I only 'offer' advice to those who ask. Any advice I give is for your benefit but more importantly it is for the welfare of your bird! If you don't want advice then don't ask! You can only expect to get a " load of s**t ", if you come across as a complete W**ker!!!
  17. Yes! I have been very fortunate to have learned my Falconry from a very well known old school master Falconer. I am not P****D off at the fact that you have entered falconry, rather the way in which you appear to have done it. I am not against young people entering falconry if it is done in a responsable manner. I am not up my arse as you say! It does not give me a buzz that I can afford a falcon, the flying is what gives me the buzz, trained bird or wild it doesn't matter. I also breed, train and fly Harris' Hawks, AND You have still not answered my last question! Which was:- What experience
  18. Hi! Can't comment on the course but I do know one of the Falconers there! As for choice of bird? Steer clear of a female and go for a male. This is because they tend to be easier to handle and less tempremental than the females. males can and will take anything a female can, upto BUT excluding a hare! Hope this helps. PLEASE make sure that you have done a course OR gained sufficient experience with a good falconry mentor and have ALL your equipment in place BEFORE you get a bird!! Hope this helps? good luck!
  19. Thanks! Barry, Can you please PM me. Have tried to PM you but can't seem to get it to work? Thanks! Rod. ask Jon Snowdon he will know. Thanks! Barry! If A Red was shot over bowes then it would be more than likley a transiant animal from the lowther herds?
